Avoided a non-sweary title.

What Dadx3 said. I wonder if everything is being set up for a terrifying 'end' to happen, maybe including Ursula, Rob and the River Am or a busy road (please mrs SW NOT including the children )

Eatingcheeseontoast · 28/01/2017 09:48

Dadx3 that's a more subtle explanation. There must be a reason for it being mentioned and it was a good lead in for Lillian,.

TheAntiBoop · 28/01/2017 11:47

I would have thought buying and selling second hand farm equipment was niche enough that there are already a lot of brokers out there anyway. eBay worked because it was generally difficult to monetise your old random crap.

What is Josh's USP with his site? Is it just that he's managed to get his dad old kit on there?

I know enough 'internet entrepreneurs ' to know they all pretty much make losses and live off other peoples money until they have to liquidate the company. Those who do manage to sell their sites on to the big Players rarely make massive fortunes.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/01/2017 11:49

It's hardly suprising Henry is unsettled, after the year he's had. He witnessed his mummy stabbing 'daddy' - a man who although we can see was controlling of him too, apart from the boarding school thing Henry adored, and who then had months poisoning Henry against Helen - whereas she has refrained from doing so. There's been no mention of him having any sort of counselling has there?

BroomstickOfLove · 28/01/2017 13:25

I'm worried about a car accident.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/01/2017 13:36

I'm wondering if there will now be radio silence about Rob for a while to lull us into a false sense of security. Then at some point when the teaser for the night's episode is something non-committal (e.g. 'Susan is fretting over the volunteer rota' or 'Jill distributes her latest batch of marmalade') we have a peaceful scene at Bridge Farm and then Helen turns round to find Rob confronting her with a shotgun. Dum di dum di dum di dum, dum di dum di dum di.... He would definitely be the type to be a family annihilator, but surely to goodness Radio 4 wouldn't let him get away with it. Sad Shock

Megatherium · 28/01/2017 14:16

I'd like to think they'd use an opportunity to tie up the Miles loose end - surely they introduced him for some purpose? Maybe Rob is with him, and at some point he will turn up and explain it's not Rob's fault and describe just how foul their childhood was.

Eastpoint · 28/01/2017 14:47

I don't think you can blame everything on Rob having a bad childhood. He is an adult who has lived away from his parents for many years - boarding prep & then senior school so it isn't as if he was socially isolated. He is an unpleasant man by choice.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/01/2017 14:59

A toxic combination of nature and nurture, I think. I've had the impression that he was bullied at school as well as being a bully. But yes, adults are ultimately responsible for their own behaviour.

Megatherium · 28/01/2017 15:26

Oh, I agree that Rob has to take full responsibility for his behaviour, no matter how foul Bruce and Ursula almost certainly were as parents. It's just that Miles (or someone) may turn up to give that explanation.

JessieMcJessie · 28/01/2017 15:26

I was glad that Pat, having experienced the loss of her own son, did not take empathetic pity on Ursula. However I was also waiting for Ursula to say something like "you of all people must understand", which would have been a great trigger to make Pat even more angry. That said, the Titcheners are so self-centred that Ursula probably either did not know or had forgotten that Helen had a dead brother.

Rioka · 28/01/2017 15:44

Hello, a very long time lurker de-lurking to comment on the several references to The Rain last week. Will the sink hole SL also be tied up by the end of next week?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/01/2017 16:13

Oh... well spotted. Though, unlike the great but oddly localised rain which caused the flood, it has been quite wet in some areas recently.

JennyWoodentop · 28/01/2017 16:37

I suppose we'll find out if Rob has really gone when he's next due at the contact centre to see Jack. If he doesn't turn up then everyone will be relieved, then he may or may not turn up at some point in the future. I doubt there'll be a body or clear evidence of him leaving the country, they will want him in reserve for future story lines involving Jack.

Fink · 28/01/2017 19:39

I thought Miles and his wife lived either with or very near Ursula and Bruce? Hence the references to them being able to look after Bruce while Ursula was with Rob, which Bruce didn't buy because Miles was busy with the farm and his wife had her own job, and anyway it 'wasn't her job' to care for Bruce, it was Ursula's. So the impression I got was that Miles now runs (either jointly with Bruce or on his own) the family farm. I might have got the wrong end of the stick there, but I definitely think they live close by in Hampshire and therefore Rob couldn't hide there.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 28/01/2017 21:50

I think it was mentioned fairly early on Fink that Miles was running the family farm as presumed heir (thereby causing Rob to feel that life's not fair). I'm not convinced though that Miles is a loose end so much as just a part of Rob's back story.

Really pleased Lillian did right by Helen. And joining the hope that Henry is just upskittled by Helen being upset rather than by any specific Rob-doings.

Have we been told the specific arrangements for the contact centre? Would it be a set day in the month or every four weeks? Last contact was Sunday 8th Jan, so do we think we have two full weeks to wait until 2nd Sunday in February for the next one? Or might it be first weekend of the month (deferred in Jan because of NY) so it's actuallh next weekend? I don't know how these things work.

Vango · 29/01/2017 11:11

Listening more carefully today and you're right Rioka! Rain, rain and more rain sfx all week......heavy, heavy rain at that! 😁

They've almost all moaned about it. Peril for Brookfield with any luck.

And he agrees with us too Francis, clearly!

Gherkinsmummy · 29/01/2017 12:14

Ursula really is unbelievable - going to the mother of the woman her son raped and tormented for help and then insulting her and her daughter even she was less than sympathetic - I was amazed Pat was so polite!

BluePheasant · 29/01/2017 12:35

Sorry if already been discussed, am not keeping up v well lately, but my money's on a Rex and Anisha pairing. Rex is going to prove himself to David and become the golden boy. Cue village gossiping of "oh don't they make such a lovely couple". Pip green with envy being stuck with unreliable Toby.

Getting rather worried about Lily's driving. I hope a nasty accident isn't on the cards.

PuppetinParadize · 29/01/2017 13:52

I wonder what the chances of Arsula seeing the light about Rob and Bruce. Unlikely I imagine. And if they give her some self-awareness they'd have to issue new teeth too. Leave Brucey with the old set. I've no idea where this is going. But I am sure Knob won't harm himself - though he might do more harm to others. I suspect he's not far away. How much pay would he have got? only about a month's I suspect. I'm thinking how hard it would be for him to survive with no income. I think something will happen quite soon. Possibly just before the event in Lincoln. It would give us lots to discuss there. Not that there isn't lots already. Grin
