Avoided a non-sweary title.

You'd have thought Brine would have let the BF folk know asap.

Rob won't have gone further than Hampshire. If Helen takes the ridiculous job in America story at face value and doesn't turn up with Jack at the contact centre next month, that will presumably give Rob an axe to grind. I just can't see him really vanishing quietly.

Funny name for a horse
I'm hoping it won't lead to some massive drama along the lines of the recovery from the procedure goes horribly wrong, horse nearly dies, much to the distress of Anisha and her newly established professional reputation, and Alistair, then one of them manages to pull horse back from the brink of death. I hope not.

Fink · 23/01/2017 21:31

Francis yes. I'm not sure of other occasions but at the trial I think Jess mentioned not having had a stable home as Rob had wandered around various jobs in both Minnesota and Canada, and she had gone by his side, isolated from her friends and unable to build a new life because they never stopped moving.

LowDudgeon · 23/01/2017 22:16

Minnesota is right next to Canada after all so that would have been a quick & logical move (esp if evading trouble in the other country...)

I was wondering if Lazarus's owner is a Bowie fan?

JessieMcJessie · 23/01/2017 22:35

Iamnotausernumber I do recall that conversation too but in my head it was Edinburgh! Accept I must have misremembered though. I'd have thought they'd avoid Glasgow as Jazzer's family are from there, but if the actress is from Glasgow perhaps they thought better just to stick to her own accent. Having looked her up I can't find any details of where in Scotland she is from, but it is interesting that she is ethnically South Asian, since that shouldn't be necessary for radio!

Megatherium · 23/01/2017 23:13

I suppose Rob may well go after Jess. He's not going to be able to handle the fact that there is nothing and no-one he seems able to control in Ambridge, or the fact that, in his mind, his downfall has been caused by various women. One of his main mistakes was to target a woman with a large support network, so he might reason that Jess is on her own and vulnerable and presents an opportunity to regain some control.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2017 23:22

It seems like a possibility - maybe if he did that Jess would want to get the rape and CC to court and enlist Helen?

TheSilveryPussycat · 24/01/2017 00:39

I have always thought that the business of running a stable has been sadly overlooked in The Archers. It always seemed to be at the periphery even when Christine had it, I suppose because back then there was supposed to be a farming education aspect to it. I do hope this is about to change.

Gherkinsmummy · 24/01/2017 08:28

I thought it was a strange name for a horse, and seemed like very blatant foreshadowing.

ppeatfruit · 24/01/2017 09:31

Ref. stable business, yes it's good to hear more about it . Ansiha sounds very capable to me, why should there be more drama?

SingingAvocado · 24/01/2017 09:44

On Spotlight Anneika Rose (Anisha) is listed as:

Accents & Dialects:
( = native) American-Standard, Central Scottish, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Indian, RP, Scottish-Standard, Scottish-West Coast

Languages:
( = Native/Fluent) English

Fink · 24/01/2017 09:59

Isn't Scottish West Coast more Gaelic speaking anyway? I wonder if she can do Gaelic, it's quite popular amongst trendy young people. It would be amazing if Jazzer tried on some Scots and she came back with Gaelic. I wonder if her asking (and not getting) Jazzer's age was a hint that one of them will try it on with the other.

ppeatfruit · 24/01/2017 10:02

Fink It wouldn't difficult to guess which one it might be; the down to earth ,randy lover of lonely housewives or the young highly qualified attractive vet????

Fink · 24/01/2017 10:18

Well we know Jazzer's form for chasing women, but we know next to nothing about Anisha. She might be every bit as single-minded in her pursuit of the next hot ONS. I get the impression Jazzer is supposed to be relatively attractive and he's definitely charismatic, she might go for him. Grin

Though Gaelic was spoken in Argyll, and that's 'west coast'. As is Ayrshire of course - nearer to NI in some parts than to Gaelic-speaking Scotland. On listening last night I did think Anisha is definitely not Edinburgh. At home today so planning to LA at 2pm.

It's quite funny us all poring over Anisha's accent as for most listeners it hardly matters where in Scotland a particular Scottish accent comes from. Even my husband who has now lived in Scotland for more decades than his childhood and early adulthood in norf London is fairly unable to hear any difference in Scottish accents - despite being very pedantic in most other matters. I'd be saying something like 'that person has a Lewis accent' or 'that's a Lewis accent not a Barra one' and he is totally bemused by the difference.

I also think often people from ethnic minorities speak differently from indigenous Scots, even where they've grown up speaking English. But it's all variable and of course Anisha sounds nothing like Sangeev Kohli!! I know - overinfested. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2017 13:37

Re hearing more about the stables, shouldn't Shula be worrying about the upcoming rate rises which I gather from recent newspaper headlines are set to ruin many small rural businesses?

PuppetInParadize · 24/01/2017 13:40

But won't the ambridge stable fairy be on hand to help out?

Fink · 24/01/2017 13:49

Haven't Shula and Alistair just had a cash injection (via Anisha) to enable her to splash the cash as huntmaster? So she should be able to weather the rate rises.

prettywhiteguitar · 24/01/2017 14:12

Shula's voice is so sensible and annoying.

I think Rob will disappear, mainly because surely there would be a chance of getting charged with manslaugter if it ever got out about blocking the culvert?? Frida died because of it ?

mummytime · 24/01/2017 14:19

Very English here and I can tell the difference between Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Central belt, and Lewis. The difference between Lewis and Barra would be beyond me, but I could tell Morningside from a "normal"Edinburgh, or Aberdeen from Peterhead.
Anisha's is hard because it is "highly educated" therefore close to RP, with a confusing hint of something vaguely Scottish and something vaguely "Indian subcontinental" - I assume its the actresses most natural accent - which it needs to be if she is going to keep it up for years.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2017 14:43

I can't believe Rob will vanish without some interaction with Helen and Jack.
If word did get out, maybe Bert would acquire a dented spade and a new raised bed in the garden (ok, maybe not, now SOC has gone back to soapland, but I can wish)
