Roll up roll up! It's nearly Apple Day in Ambridge. Grab a slice of Borset apple cake and see who's got the longest peel in The Archers.

I'm so happy with the return to the little things. Enjoy the new thread!

So basically, Rob is getting away with it. I am so angry. What the fuck sort of message is that sending to women in abusive relationships?

Vango · 21/10/2016 19:25

I hope Jill decides to go to Lower Loxley for a break. Freddie seemed to be happy to open up to her. I really liked that little scene.

It's time the Brookfield Archers were left to fend for themselves again to remind them how much they should be thanking Jill! They were on the brink of starvation and tripping over dirty clothes last time.

kesstrel · 21/10/2016 19:31

I loved the description of Elizabeth's Brexit conference: "The person who organised it resigned just before it started, they keep changing their mind about what they want, and no one seems to know what they're doing...." Grin

Cromwell1536 · 21/10/2016 19:48

"And a flapjack! Keep your strength up!" Oh god, Jill's endless stream of baked goods...just kill me now.

On the other hand, Susan's exchange with Lynda was priceless.

Am picturing Helen as a Vermeer blonde, all radiant with domestic bliss. Won't last though, will it? Guess we have to rely on Justin (fuelled by Lillian?) to boot Rob out and sever any professional connection with the village.

ColdTeaAgain · 21/10/2016 19:48

Didn't really hear any of tonight's episode except the very end and I'm having a big sulk about it.

Now just have this sinking feeling that he's always going to be around Sad

TheAntiBoop · 21/10/2016 19:53

When Helen finds out he's trying to change jacks name I think she will decide to prosecute because she will realise he will continue to try and control her life otherwise

PuppetinSpace · 21/10/2016 19:58

Lovely new thread. Thanks, Pseudo.

At the end of tonight's episode, teenage ds said after the CA's spiel about helpline 'Well, I'm having trouble with my algebra. Can I phone the BBC?Grin It made me laugh.

I really hope we don't go down an Ed/Alice philandering theme. Some things can be left intact IMO.

WipsGlitter · 21/10/2016 20:14

Just marking.

Shallishanti · 21/10/2016 20:48

can't the police prosecute without Helen ?

ColdTeaAgain · 21/10/2016 21:10

They could in theory yes, but without Helen giving evidence I don't think they would have a lot to go on. No timeline of 999 calls, hospital admissions etc like there might be in domestic violence cases.

Really hope something changes her mind.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2016 21:44

Well they could remember Pat's erstewhile best friend Kathy and bring her back to persuade Helen. I mean, they've dug Ifty back out of the recesses of their memory. And the Titcombes.

So Lily is into performing arts is she? I'm not sure I believe this 'flash mob' singing and dancing can suit her, surely her speciality is mime?

Puppet Grin** at your mathematically challenged teen... I wonder whether the helpline ever does get anything like that...redirect to bbc bitesize maybe?

What did freddy say

Eastpoint · 21/10/2016 21:53

Could Lily being part of a flash mob be a wink to those listeners who think she's turned into a silent character?

I loved the 'yachts at sunset' conversation between Neil and Susan.

De-lurking, and indeed derailing, to endorse all the fond memories of the 'Jill' books. My old copies are still somewhere in the family home and DM still regularly re-reads them, especially her favourite ('Jill and the Perfect Pony'), while guffawing with laughter. She was mightily disappointed by one of Ruby Ferguson's adult novels which I bought her when Persephone reprinted it a few years ago. Not in the Jill vein and not at all what she was hoping for.

Ahem. As you were. Just to add.....excellent change-counting from Lyndie tonight.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2016 23:36

And what was her geological metaphor? 'Pyroclastic flow'? I think there's going to be some major fault lines betwixt her and Kate before this production is done.

Tuktuktaker · 22/10/2016 05:55

Yes, yes, to BertrandRussell. I was fuming at the end of last night's episode. Whilst I am loving the reversion to "normal" TA, and the reintroduction of forgotten characters (so much want Tiger back!) I am really disappointed that we have lived through this whole however many years of coercive control without Rob being prosecuted for it - all very well reversing SO'C's decisions, but raising public awareness of the coercive control law was trumpeted as being the whole point of this story line and it is a real shame that nothing has come of it and the whole SO'C diversion has turned out to be more or less a shower scene (in Dallas, not Ambridge).
And breatheGrin

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 22/10/2016 06:19

Checking in.

Tuktuktaker · 22/10/2016 08:44

A propos of notalot, did I imagine one of the scriptwriters who tweets a lot, initials KD, expressing their relief at the reign of the Sock Puppet being over, or was it just a kind of wishful thinking on my part?

Has Rob gotten away with it? Legally, yes, but - and perhaps more importantly to a man like Rob - his reputation is in tatters. Will Helen be entitled to maintainance? He would have to give her money for the boys, with his well paid job. I think this could run and run. And what's happened to Jess?

ColdTeaAgain · 22/10/2016 09:31

If the SWs have decided to draw a line under the storyline then Rob needs to leave. No one is going to be happy with him swanning about the village playing the victim act.

Where is Rob going to live and how long does he have left in BHC?

Francis given that there have been all of six prosecutions and one unreported conviction for the CC offence so far, we will be waiting a long time...
