What day is it again?

OP posts:
ibrowze · 08/09/2016 19:38

Yes Ian didn't know about Adams thing with fruit picker Pavel. That wld have come out of the blue.

Gherkinsmummy · 08/09/2016 19:39

Poor Ian. Bruce basically said there was nothing wrong with marital rape. What a delightful man.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 08/09/2016 19:39

Now Adam's secret is out, will Charlie come back with his Berrow Farm evidence (and resurrect Stefan)?

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2016 19:40

Yes, and Jennydarling was the one who told Knob about Pavel (as if!)

Shallishanti · 08/09/2016 19:42

Neil's evidence will be irrefutable though as he's such a fine upstanding chap

ColdTeaAgain · 08/09/2016 19:44

I can't decide if I'm liking this twist or not but to be fair to the SW's the suspense is killing us so they're doing something right! Grin

Yes I agree Rob's barrister is sounding like he's well and truly got the cut of Rob's jib now - having to defend a habitual rapist and abuser, got to be pretty depressing!

SealSong · 08/09/2016 19:45

When is the hour long special?

Ackeeandsaltfish · 08/09/2016 19:45

Didn't Rob tell Ian about Adam and Charlie, saying that Helen had told him, and that it was common knowledge about Adam and Pavel, just before Ian and Adam's wedding?

ibrowze · 08/09/2016 19:46

Shallishanti maybe but he is married to the Ambridge One and the Horribles. Discredited by association ?

ColdTeaAgain · 08/09/2016 19:46

On Sunday Seal

TopazRocks · 08/09/2016 19:47

I think Ian has suspected about Pawel. He did ask Adam about him a few weeks ago, when the new pickers arrived at HF. But a different matter to hear it spoken of in a public forum like that.

My dh mentioned, which I missed, that Rob was calling Mr Bywater by his first name, Julian. Is that v unusual? I'd have expected them to have spoken a few times but be formal about it all. Not on 1st name terms. Probably Knob being over-familiar which won't help him one bit.

ColdTeaAgain · 08/09/2016 19:47

Yep it was right before their wedding. He was trying to make out to Ian that he admired him for being so forgiving.

Ackeeandsaltfish · 08/09/2016 19:48

Rob's certainly taking as many people as he can down with him.

ibrowze · 08/09/2016 19:50

Ackee you could be right I don't remember. I know tipsy JD told Knob who filed it away.

TopazRocks · 08/09/2016 19:51

Is it possible, IRL, when a prosecuting counsel realises the victim is the true villain and the person on trial a victim of a very nasty person, that the prosecutor just stops trying very hard?

Vango · 08/09/2016 19:51

Come to think of it, why isn't Adam in court to support his husband and cousin? Surely Brian could have taken over for a few hours. This trial must be a MASSIVE deal in Ambridge.

JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 19:54

It's not Rob's barrister, ColdTea, he's the prosecution barrister. In fact I did wonder what the hell he was doing talking to a witness's relative.

I guess what happens next may depend on what the juror tweeted. If it was just about what was happening in court, on the face of it the trial can continue as he won't have said anything that the papers aren't reporting anyway. If it was something about what the jury thought, which is meant to be totally confidential, that would be more serious. My hope is the former, not least because SOC won't want to leave on the anticlimax of a retrial some time in the future.

It was interesting that, when Bruce sneered about Rob blubbing, Rob said something to the effect that it was a better way to get Helen convicted than shouting out in court. Which does rather confirm what we all know, namely that it's a carefully thought-through strategy.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 08/09/2016 19:54

Ian knew, but Adam didn't know that Ian knew. And Charlie, who has kept quiet to protect Adam, didn't know that Ian already knew.

But was only Parvel mention in court and not Charlie? I was confused!!

EBearhug · 08/09/2016 19:55

He went on about how wonderful it was that they had an open relationship, knowing full well it wasn't at all.

I like the idea of Rob getting arrested - just now, it's likely to be for patrician, I should think. I would very much like them to do Bruce for contempt of court.

Interestingly, having been one of the many who complained earlier in the week about people talking in the gallery - it didn't bother me that Bruce did it, because that seemed totally in character.

TopazRocks · 08/09/2016 19:55

Yes, Vango, so massive even the lying horsewoman turned up. I expect she had her knitting and was sitting in the front row. Smile

BurnTheBlackSuit · 08/09/2016 19:56

Whilst I want it to end, I also want all the ends tied up- so I was all the culvert blocking etc to come out and Rob to be completely found out, hated by all and sent to prison for a long long time.

TheAntiBoop · 08/09/2016 19:56

Rob told Ian about pavel and charlie

JudyCoolibar · 08/09/2016 19:56

Poor Ian, he really didn't deserve that. I hope it turns out to be a mis-step by the prosecution: I don't think I'd be too impressed by a bit of gratuitous mudslinging like that if I were a juror. After all, it can't be a big deal that Ian doesn't like Rob - he's entitled not to like the man who abused and repeatedly raped one of his best friends.

EmilyDickinson · 08/09/2016 19:56

I'm pretty sure that they'll just carry on with 11 jurors. I wasn't too annoyed about the tweeting juror as that is something that is reasonably likely to happen although I'm sure the judge warned the jurors right at the start that they couldn't discuss the trial outside the jury room.

Poor Ian.

Bruce did not do Rob any favours did he?

And yes, we need to know whether Anna asked about witness intimidation. I suspect that Ian and Jess haven't told her. Ian because he doesn't realise it's relevant and Jess because she's frightened of further antagonising Rob. if the intimidation came to light that would really scupper Rob because it would expose how ruthless he is. And the court would take an extremely dim view. In fact post trial Rob could probably occupy the court's attention for some time with the list of potential criminal charges against him.

TopazRocks · 08/09/2016 19:56

I was thinking this is all bigger than SATTC, with all the consequences for so many in the area. More than Nigel coming off that roof.
