A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

oh come on Jess

Gruach · 05/08/2016 19:14

Is Joe actually ill?

BlossomHillOne · 05/08/2016 19:17

So why isn't she having an assessment then - Anna really is bloody hopeless.

I think Joe will die very soon.

ColdTeaAgain · 05/08/2016 19:24

Oh ffs what a shite episode. So Jess might talk to Anna obviously she will wow, whoop de doo! Thanks SW's for yet more time wasting which you no doubt think is excellent tension building. Well it's not, it's just tedious. We could of been having weeks of all the things about Rob gradually surfacing. But no, just weeks of fuck all happening. bad day at work, am grumpy

TopazRocks · 05/08/2016 19:25

At this rate Joe will get his desire - to die at GF.

I think Tenby trip won't happen because Rob will 'forget the dates' and take Henry off on his own trip, perhaps to visit his parents. Though that might not go down well next time the care of Henry is reviewed in court - when would that be? presumably after/if Helen is sent down???

Someone would need to remind Pip that she failed her A levels first time around too, didn't she? (after she spent her year in the bed of that cad Jude, i think)

TopazRocks · 05/08/2016 19:29

At least Anna persuaded a reluctant Jess to talk to her. She/Anna sounded more forceful and less of a wet blanket than usual. I hadn't considered that jess's silence might be due to her not wanting to be dragged into helping Helen, not wanting to get into having to think about life with Knob. In the circs, quite understandable.

For. The. Love. Of. All. Things. Holy. Helen. Angry

elephantoverthehill · 05/08/2016 20:16

I think Joe may depart and so leave the Grundy's housing situation easier. Maybe he will be taken gravely ill so Caroline and Oliver will let him stay to the demise.

CeciledeVolanges · 05/08/2016 20:21

I've just caught up - does anyone else think it was extremely odd and SOC-ish that Joe said to Eddie "I'll remember you in my will" just before an enormous, theatrical clap of thunder? How many inheritance disputes does that make on the horizon? I have to say I am not looking forward to the one the Aldridges might have over Ruairi (sp?) I really like Brian and Jennifer as a couple.

TheAntiBoop · 05/08/2016 20:23

What can joe be leaving to leave a dispute? Bartleby?

PseudoBadger · 05/08/2016 20:56

Evening all! Titles please Wink

When will it all end

JudyCoolibar · 05/08/2016 21:02

I finished listening to today's episode totally confused. I don't understand why Joe has suddenly gone all doom laden, I don't understand why Pip has anything whatsoever to do with Toby, and I don't understand why Jess would be so aggressive with Helen's lawyer when she was very sympathetic to her last time they spoke.

CeciledeVolanges · 05/08/2016 21:18

Jess is probably scared of Rob :(

impostersyndrome · 05/08/2016 21:32

psuedo could we have something about wanting the ghastly pip and her ghastly not-boyfriend going up Lakey Hill and not coming down again? Or an in memorium to the much loved scruff who we would like to come down again?

Ps do you think their dirty weekend will be to the mysterious Brighton?

selsigfach · 05/08/2016 21:33

Jess assumes that Helen has told Anna about being raped.
Even if she does get off, Helen shouldn't get Jack and Henry. She isn't fit to look after them.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/08/2016 21:38

What a godawful episode.

GrumpyOldBag · 05/08/2016 21:42

I can't remember, did Helen tell Jess about the rape?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/08/2016 21:43

I don't think so. I think it was only the helpline.

TheAntiBoop · 05/08/2016 21:44

I think Jess knows about the rape in so far as the same thing happened to her and I'm sure Helen implied the conception was not a happy one

enochroot · 05/08/2016 22:06

Can we get "the four 'orsemen" into the thread title?

elephantoverthehill · 05/08/2016 22:21

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/food_and_recipes/2701852-OMG-Ive-created-a-custard-monster
At least Helen didn't commit this crime.

R4 · 05/08/2016 22:40

I'd love to know what is going through the minds of SOC and/or the SW. Do they think that we are gripped by the tension? Do they think that we gives a rat's ar*e about Helen? Are we suffering anguish, in sympathy with Pat? Will Anna win through?

In case the focus group researchers are about: I don't care. It's tedious, please hurry up and finish it off. If I never hear from/of Helen again it will be too soon.

Please note that one of the things that I have always loved about TA is the way they (unlike other soaps) can stretch a story out for weeks/months/years. But that is only if it is done according to a natural unfolding of the story. Months of "I can't/won't talk about it" does not make interesting listening.

NelsonsWineBar · 05/08/2016 22:52

I do wonder if the writers know how many of us listeners (decades long) have stopped listening and only keep up via threads like these, hoping the Rob/Helen grim badly written shite will end.

Gherkinsmummy · 06/08/2016 06:57

What on earth are the sw playing at? Seriously if Helen won't stand up for herself and her children then she can rot in prison.
