A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

OP posts:
NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 09:32

I assumed I'd nodded off when listening again as didn't hear any comments about Rob from Carol. Annoying as was longing for a bit of bad-mouthing. Glad to have it cleared up.

Shallishanti · 15/07/2016 19:06

'he needs a firm hand '
this is how it will unravel.... he will lose his rag with Henry...

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/07/2016 19:17

Thunderclap was a portent, wasn't it?

SOC signposting, as per usual.

Stickerrocks · 15/07/2016 19:18

Do you think Rob will start dressing Henry like Prince George over the next few weeks, now that he can't pick Helen's clothes anymore?

Shallishanti · 15/07/2016 19:24

not sure how Prince George dresses?
I imagine Rob's favoured clothes for Henry would be in 'masculine' colours- maybe even camouflage?
proper lace ups, no velcro
jumpers by Ursula (scratchy)

BertrandRussell · 15/07/2016 19:44

Prince George is dressed like a ghost child from the Blitz.

Minimammoth · 15/07/2016 20:24

Perhaps Henry will decide he wants to be a girl.

Trojanhorsebox · 15/07/2016 20:26

I was listening to the podcast at lunch time ( different time zone) All the Pip & Toby squelching & slurping put me right off my food.

I agree it sounds like Rob's going to get strict.

Stickerrocks · 15/07/2016 21:44

He's a 1950's throw back to times when wimmin knew their place.

ColdTeaAgain · 15/07/2016 21:47

Rob tactics for coping with Henry alone will be the children should be seen and not heard approach. Henry is in for a miserable summer Sad

Wish they would spare us the Pip/Toby scenes, yep they're shagging now, we know!

polyhymnia · 15/07/2016 22:21

Don't think I want to hear any more Pip/ Rex action - the kissing the other day was quite bad enough. The opposite of erotic.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/07/2016 07:28

Did anyone hear Rob in the adaptation of Return of the Native on radio 4Extra this week. He played Damon Wildeve. Stopped me in my tracks when I heard his voice

BertrandRussell · 16/07/2016 07:47

It almost feels as if they have run out of plot and are marking time until they think of what to do next.

polyhymnia · 16/07/2016 08:26

Sorry , Pip/ Toby, not Rex!

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2016 09:42

Yes Bore I too noticed the not very subtle use of thunder as Rob forced Henry to stay at the gate in the storm waving goodbye to his gran Arse.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/07/2016 09:59

(Phil Mitchell would use "my brief" to mean the person appearing for him in court. So anyone with rights of audience?)

Yes , just a generic term for any lawyer who turns up in court (which in Scotland means in most courts any solicitor has a practising certificate or an advocate , Scottish barrister)

I'venever , ever heard it used.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/07/2016 10:04

as Rob forced Henry to stay at the gate in the storm waving goodbye to his gran Arse.

Oh I missed the storm and thunder, I just thought Henwee really is quite a whiny child. Sort of agreed with Rob here , it's not a big deal to wait until taxi is out of sight.

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2016 10:21

It's quite possible to stand just inside the doorway fgs. Lass Great if he'd been struck by lightning!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/07/2016 10:26

No, sorry still think it wasn't a big deal.

BertrandRussell · 16/07/2016 10:28

We always wave guests out of sight. But standing inside the door if it's pouring with rain.

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2016 10:33

Exactly Bert Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/07/2016 15:52

I've got no problem with the idea that Henry had to wave goodbye to the taxi till it was out of sight. What bothered me was the vehemence of Rob's tone when he said that it would be rude and disrespectful of Henry not to wait and wave after all Granny Ursula had done for him. Hinting at the Murdstones and David Copperfield, I feel.

JudyCoolibar · 16/07/2016 17:21

The way Rob spoke was also very similar to the way he spoke to Helen when she wanted Ursula to go home - particularly the emphasis on how ungrateful it would be etc.

Gruach · 16/07/2016 20:01

Keri Davies tweets:

Needed to check something for my #TheArchers week. Googled, to find a five year old article on the subject written by, er, Keri Davies.

Googled?

Seriously now ...

TheAntiBoop · 16/07/2016 20:09

Explains a lot
