A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

It actually sounds as though Helen sees working on the vegetable garden as therapeutic. Jack has had his 6 week check and they are both fine. I don't have a problem with her doing a bit of work - at least Jack is on site.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/07/2016 14:19

My DD has just bloody well talked through the repeat as well. When I mentioned it she looked all crestfallen and I felt bad.

Not so bad that I haven't packed her bags and disinherited her though Wink

ppeatfruit · 14/07/2016 14:22

I like the idea of the Brazilian themed fete, despite Lynda's famous sniff coming over the airwaves clearly BOOP.

EBearhug · 14/07/2016 17:14

Quite right, too.

You could be magnanimous and allow her back if she passes the Archers Knowledge exam.

Gruach · 14/07/2016 19:07

Thank god there's another daughter as awful as me ...

Gruach · 14/07/2016 19:08

Oops! Not yours BOOP - Anna.

TheAntiBoop · 14/07/2016 19:11

Is a barrister a brief?

That was an unnatural conversation between Anna and ursula

I can't believe jolene and Wayne have pretended to go to a funeral. When Kenton finds out the obvious answer is that they were really off shagging. Stoopid sl

Anna and ursula - unnatural conversation

Is a barrister a brief?

When Kenton finds out the funeral is fake he's going to assume they are off shagging

TheAntiBoop · 14/07/2016 19:12

Oops - first one didn't look like it had posted!! Sorry

Gruach · 14/07/2016 19:13

HRH met Louiza Patikas whose role as Helen from @BBCTheArchers is shining a light on the issue of domestic abuse.

Anna was talking to her Ma ...

TheAntiBoop · 14/07/2016 19:17

Oops yes! Shows I still can't tell the difference - what's her name again?

I feel a bit sick about the archers taking all this credit for shining a light on dv when they ended it so badly

Gruach · 14/07/2016 19:19

Carol!

Yes a barrister is a brief. (If you live in Eastenders world.)

TheAntiBoop · 14/07/2016 19:24

I thought it was a solicitor. Not up on my legal slang mind you!

Gruach · 14/07/2016 19:31

Ah. Don't they just generalise these things in soaps - assuming the populace doesn't know the difference? (Phil Mitchell would use "my brief" to mean the person appearing for him in court. So anyone with rights of audience?)

JudyCoolibar · 14/07/2016 21:38

How odd. The blurb said that was going to include Carol sharing her views of Rob. I didn't hear her mention him once.

I think a brief is a generic term for any lawyer.

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2016 21:52

Yes- I was looking forward to that....

DadDadDad · 14/07/2016 23:08

I'm so glad for this thread to check that I'm not going mad! The CA definitely trailed the episode as Carol giving her views on Rob, then as it got to 7:15 and F & H were still blathering on about cricket teas, I thought "did I miss the Rob bit, because they've not left much time to cut back to Carol and Anna now to have that conversation?" Confused

And yes, I initially mistook Carol's voice for Ursula's.

EBearhug · 14/07/2016 23:36

If you read between the lines, Carol going on about, "You are going to get her off, aren't you, Anna? It's all so wrong!" was her way of saying, Rob's a controlling twatbag. But it wasn't quite as blatant as they implied in the trailer. In fact, it was very easy to miss it.

TopazRocks · 14/07/2016 23:41

And I imagine Shula is 'down in the mouth' because dr Locke is paying attention to the Widow Pargetter and not the Wife Hebden Lloyd. So that's two sibling rivalry situations at once in Ambridge. Is it that common in RL? I've never had any such interest in my brother's love interests!! And I don't fancy DH's brothers either.

BOOP, I also had a chatty child. He has heard DH and me moan about TA so often of late - and in his black and white aspie world, the hands go on the hips, in righteous indignation, and then he utters the words 'Why are you listening if it's such rubbish?'. Tonight I had to explain that although I'd be at home tomorrow at 2pm, i wanted to hear it tonight 'properly' so I'd have to listen only once. He seemed to accept this logic!Sometimes I've had to hiss, very quickly as the music ends, 'You either leave the room or you shut up'. Thankfully i gleaned enough that I don't need to listen again.

TopazRocks · 14/07/2016 23:43

I agree, EB. Hope Anna picked up on it!

Gumpendorf · 15/07/2016 03:40

According to The Archers Twitter account, Carol sharing her views about Rob was cut, probably because of time. Confused

JudyCoolibar · 15/07/2016 07:09

I'd have thought they could just as easily have lost the bit with Anna moaning about Carole not holding the banister, or Kenton and Alistair anxiously asking where Harrison was.

Gruach · 15/07/2016 07:17

No, no! I could happily listen to Anna and Carol sniping and scrapping all day.

And, although the cricket duscussion isn't always well scripted I am enjoying seeing Fallon move into a more mature position in the village. I spent years waiting for the SWs to find her an escape route into the world - but they've finally done the opposite and built her a secure and meaningful future in Ambridge.

R4 · 15/07/2016 09:01

Considering that we have spent months moaning about the lack of village gossip concerning HelRob, it seems a strange decision to go to the effort pf recording the Tregorrans gossiping and then discard it because they haven't got time to fit it in ... in the same programme that the pub gossips (again) about Beverley Drains!

DH has been coming home at about 7:10 these past few weeks. He is not greeted by a cheery "how was your day?". Instead I head him off at the pass and prevent any conversations by hissing "shhh!" at him.Grin
