Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

Compared to the tedious Pip/Fairbrethren dialogue Kate and Roy were pretty damn good I thought. It sounded like a very natural conversation.

LillianGish · 02/07/2016 17:16

It may have sounded natural in acting terms, but it ignored everything we know about that situation - that Kate buggered of leaving Hayley to bring up Phoebe and has now done exactly the same to her other two children. I just don't believe for a moment that at some point in that conversation Roy wouldn't have said that Phoebe was by lucky to have had Hayley in her life and that Kate wouldn't have said she felt really bad about Noli and Sepo - or that Roy might have had some thought for Abi (who I'd nearly forgotten about myself so neatly has she been excised from the programme). In fact I'm beginning to understand why the SW like the Fairbrethren so much - they have no background so they can write whatever they like making it up as they go along.

Gruach · 02/07/2016 17:26

Oh - I was going to mention Abi this morning but was distracted away from thread. I hope that off air Phoebe is still spending some weekends with her sister. (And that we'll be assured of their continuing closeness in the fullness of time ...)

There's a really good conversation to be had about the support of grandparents around the Roy, Hayley, Kate scenario. Tuckers, Archers, Hayley's parents no doubt, Kate's SA in laws ...

Did they really talk without mentioning Hayley? (What kind of warped agenda is that?) I'm starting to dread tomorrow morning.

Balcanoona · 02/07/2016 17:40

why has no one contacted Rob's ex-wife Jess? She clearly saw his manipulative abuse and would support Helen

enochroot · 02/07/2016 18:44

Clearly they have all accepted his version (spread by Helen) that Jess was mad.
As he's now saying the same about Helen you'd think someone would question either his judgement or his veracity.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 02/07/2016 19:10

To marry one mad woman be regarded as a misfortune; to marry two ??

BitOutOfPractice · 02/07/2016 22:23

In fairness to Brine and JD they cannot be accused of not being supportive to their Dgd

BlossomHillOne · 03/07/2016 05:33

The conversation between Roy and Kate was cringeworthy - she she treated Feebs appallingly over the last few weeks, months, years -bollocks to the cosy chat with Roy about what fantastic parents they are.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/07/2016 09:32

KAte is an awful parent. that conversation left me shouting about hayley at the radio.

Gruach · 03/07/2016 10:44

Listening. (To the hearing.) I find it impossible to believe any of the writing team have ever spoken to any legal practioner! Wave upon wave of bloody clichés. Angry

Barmaid101 · 03/07/2016 11:26

Just place marking not listened for a few weeks so just been catching up

redshoeblueshoe · 03/07/2016 15:12

I don't know if this has been said before but I think the problem with Pip is that she's written as if she is 13.
Kate was as annoying as ever, and I don't understand why everyone does everything she asks. If I was related to her I'd avoid her at all costs.

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2016 15:17

I hope the 13 yr old hasn't got such an active sex life as Pip though redshoes Grin

Gruach · 03/07/2016 15:19

It was quite funny the way she sat around with a sour face while several generations of Archers, Carters and Tuckers wore themselves to a frazzle doing all the work and thinking for her.

Ruairi should be home around now ...

Gruach · 03/07/2016 15:19

(Meant Kate btw!)

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2016 15:21

I did like the names of the yurts though, hilarious, Persephone FGS!!

redshoeblueshoe · 03/07/2016 16:17

ppeat sorry I wasn't thinking of the sex, but the flirting - all the time. And everyone is always amaaaaaaaaazing ! Everyone ! And everyone thinks Pip is amaaaaaaaazing.
In the real world I know very few people who are actually amaaaaaaaaazing. It is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect my GD to say, but she is 7, so that's allowed Grin

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2016 17:23

She's just one of those happy go lucky types I suppose, better than being a boring misery or flaky.

Scarydinosaurs · 03/07/2016 17:28

Yes Jess is very much needed to support Helen's claim.

Kate was infuriating. I can't stand the way Roy was helping her!

redshoeblueshoe · 03/07/2016 18:58

Scary - exactly, he's put up with her being a shit mum for 18 years, picking up the pieces, each time she hurts Pheobe. Back in the real world he would tell her to FOTTFSOFF Grin

SuffolkNWhat · 03/07/2016 19:00

Just realised I must live near D3 as DH has to stay at home during Cereal Fest due to A505 nightmares. In fact.... DH is that you?!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/07/2016 19:14

Liked Tony's little dig there.

ColdTeaAgain · 03/07/2016 19:14

Penny dropped yet Tony?? fgs! Hmm

ColdTeaAgain · 03/07/2016 19:20

I hope that was meant to be a dig at Knob and not just an oblivious observation; I don't trust Tony's intellect anymore!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/07/2016 19:29

A definite dig. And Rob was aware he'd scored a hit.
