Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

I'm disappointed in you Henry. Nobody likes a talkative boy.

JudyCoolibar · 03/07/2016 20:57

So now we know that Ursula is probably a fairly well-built lady, given that her T shirt fitted Tony.

I do hope that Pat, Tony and Tom will now feel free to interact with Henry if they meet himround the village, given that Rob sees no problem in muscling in on their access day.

Fink · 03/07/2016 21:31

Yes, I was remembering with anger the exchange with Tom at the cricket about make sure you don't talk to Henry when it's not your day ... Rob behaving badly and being hyprocritical, who'd a thunk it?!

LyndaNotLinda · 03/07/2016 21:35

I listened to the film today (haven't heard it all week) and had to turn it off when Rob started 'breaking down' in court. Eugh.

I hate myself for that getting to me as I feel like I'm being shamefully manipulated when the SL is so crap. It's making me very angry

JudyCoolibar · 03/07/2016 21:39

When Helen starts going on about how it's all her fault, I really wish someone would move the conversation on by saying "OK, so what are you going to do to put it right?"

2rebecca · 03/07/2016 21:45

I'm not listening any more until SOC has gone. Can't they just sack him for totally screwing up personalities that have been developed over decades? It's better to have a different actor take over a character than to just have the actor disappear and actors seem to have no staying power these days.
The Helen thing is just silly. They had years of saying she was headstrong. She only really started being bonkers after her marriage and that wasn't that long ago. She should be feeling angry now and be over the grief and befuddlement stage. She should be fighting angrily for Henry. And where is Ian, and can't Adam dig out Charlie?

Gruach · 03/07/2016 21:51

Ignoring Rob and his ways - I have a Boop.

I guess someone will wander along with the disappointing information that these two actors are in fact related but - Carol and Anna really, really sound like mother and daughter. And so scratchy together they could be in the next room. (Though my own DM and I get on pretty well - we just sound like mortal enemies sometimes.) Just wish their familial relationship was not unnecessarily hitched to a certain stabbing story.

AnnieNoMouse · 03/07/2016 22:19

Judy - So now we know that Ursula is probably a fairly well-built lady, given that her T shirt fitted Tony.
I missed tonight's and was t going to listen. I thought it would be enough to come here to get the general gist, but this little nugget is intriguing. I'm going to have to listen aren't I? Grin

DadDadDad · 03/07/2016 22:28

Suffolk - if your name's a clue, then I'm in a different county to you - the one where if you removed the first letter you get a place that would suit the Archers.

Anyway, my DW hates TA, so I don't suppose I am your DH. (I mean hates in the sense of has never listened to it, rather than the "what have they done to TA, it's ruined" kind of hate on this thread Smile ).

JudyCoolibar · 03/07/2016 22:30

I'm amazed Anna has all this time to cook and mow the lawn or whatever it was she was doing for Carol. Most shit-hot criminal/family law QCs spend their weekends preparing for the following week's cases.

I fear that what we're getting now is SOC in demob-happy mode. As he's leaving he doesn't really care any more, hence all the tedious bollocks about elves and the rest of it.

SuffolkNWhat · 03/07/2016 22:48

I'm on the border D3, DH works in the next county from yours (up the A505)

LillianGish · 03/07/2016 23:01

DDD I've just worked out where you live Grin

redshoeblueshoe · 03/07/2016 23:13

Annie I haven't listened yet either but Ursula - no way would she even own a T-shirt

LyndaNotLinda · 03/07/2016 23:46

TBF, Ursula didn't own the t-shirt. Rob bought it for her but she refused to wear it.

Honestly, the SL is bilge but I won't tell you if you don't want to know

redshoeblueshoe · 03/07/2016 23:57

Lynda - I just haven't listened tonight, so I'm only going off what is on this thread. I will listen tomorrow morning - I am actually pleased she refused to wear it, as that fits in with my idea that she wouldn't even own one Grin or maybe I'm just writing rubbish as its past my bedtime

DadDadDad · 04/07/2016 07:51

I've just worked out where you live

Ok, Lillian, drop in next time you're passing, although probably best to phone ahead, to avoid that awkward "there's some strange woman at the door calling herself Lillian Gish and claiming she knows you." Confused

AnnieNoMouse · 04/07/2016 08:16

Still not listened, but if Rob bought the T-shirt then it was probably several sizes too big for Ursula. Given his skills at buying for Helen.

EBearhug · 04/07/2016 08:33

If I were buying event T-shirts for a group of people without knowing the exact sizes, I'd get more large than small - you can wear an oversized t-shirt, but you can't wear one that's too small.

GypsyFl0ss · 04/07/2016 08:46

DDD I've just spent the past five minutes thinking "ssex" , yeah that could work for TA. Then "edfordshire" , slightly obscure but that could work too. Finally decided to google the 505 and laughed when I realised it was just "amridge" . Duh!

GypsyFl0ss · 04/07/2016 08:48

I haven't really been listening much, decided to listen last night and caught 5 seconds of Pat whining and switched back to sky news.

redshoeblueshoe · 04/07/2016 09:40

Just caught up. BOOP for Caz

R4 · 04/07/2016 09:41

Good call Gypsy. Remember a few days back when Pat said "aha! We know your game now, Rob Titchener. All that time you were coercing Helen ... but you won't pull that stunt with us" Guess who rolled over without a whimper on their one-and-only access day.
Meanwhile Helen is sat in a cell going "me me me. My life is a mess. I know what will make it better - I'll cut off contact with all of the family."

Gruach · 04/07/2016 10:28

Meanwhile in other Referendum news:

Writing is rewriting. So I'm writing. By which I mean I'm rewriting. Because if writing is rewriting, then... oh, never mind. # The Archers

Listener power in action?

The new democracy?

Or is this the beginning of the end of the old regime?

Gumpendorf · 04/07/2016 12:43

Radio Times said scriptwriters visited a MBU so I'm guessing we are getting their learning (normal for mother to reject contact after adverse judgement). Similarly with no-one listening to DV victims. All regardless of whether it makes a good storyline. Or maybe not capable of turning them into a decent storyline.

And wouldn't Rob's barrister have a field day with Anna being in Ambridge?

Anna has shown more than once that she understands Rob's behaviour and Helen's reaction and yet she is still as useless as a chocolate teapot in the FDRA hearing. Confused

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 04/07/2016 12:54

I do feel sorry for Pat and Tony now - Rob is clearly going to do this every week, and now that Henry let slip that he doesn't use the stick any more, he's going to make extra sure that Pat and Tony don't ever get to speak to him without 'supervision'. And if P &T dig their heels in and say they want to take Henry off to do something else, Rob will go on all week to Henry about how much he wanted to be with him on Sunday but Granny and Grandad won't let him, just like Mummy refuses to come home or to let them see 'Gideon'.

As ever, as always, as each time this happens - they need to seek advice. But they won't.
