Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

Boring though it is I guess an undignified fight between Elizabeth and her God-sibling over the Doc seems the most likely possibility. It would put Jill in an uncomfortable position and probably almost lead to her falling out with Carol. Before they come to their senses and discover some clever way of resolving things.

TopOfTheCliff · 12/06/2016 20:37

I don't think Anna is coming to Ambridge in search of a man. She is a tough kick ass lawyer lady after all. But I don't like the way Carol is making her sound so needy and wet. She's all alone in her flat and not eating properly. It almost sounds like she needs Helen to be her friend not her client!

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2016 20:38

Mystic Bore predicts a side-story where Lynda is (or fears she will be) sued for allowing her resurgam thing to trip unsuspecting octogenarians - especially those whose daughters happen to be SHLs.

Anna and Rob Grin Grin

I bet Anna brings a few cats with her when she stays, to complete the sad lonely career woman stereotype. Or maybe some favourite house plants.

I don't think Anna is coming to Ambridge in search of a man.

Do the scriptwriters know that, though?

Minimammoth · 12/06/2016 20:57

Sorry Grauch, it had to be said or become the hippopotamus in the Am.

BYOSnowman · 12/06/2016 20:57

Anna is a woman. All women need a man. So whilst she isn't coming to ambridge to look for a man - as a woman she is spending her whole life looking for one anyway. At least, that's what the sw seem to think of women.

Eg Kirsty who will end up back with Tom despite having cheated on her and jilted her. But she's a woman and if he wants her back who is she to object.

Scarydinosaurs · 12/06/2016 21:03

Anna and Rob would certainly make it an Enders worthy end to SOC's reign.

Eastpoint · 12/06/2016 21:04

Thank you for the new thread Pseudo.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/06/2016 21:41

Thanks for the new fred, pseudo

Remember yonks ago when things were getting weird between Lizzie and Roy? There was some do on at Lower Loxley and Roy was helping out. An older woman made some Percy comment to Lizzie implying that Roy was drop dead gorge. That was Carol wasn't it? So she might try and match make Anna and Roy.

I'm still not listening, does Rob know the name of Helens barrister? I'd love him to drop himself in it in her earshot, somehow.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/06/2016 21:42

Pervy, not Percy Hmm

BYOSnowman · 12/06/2016 21:45

Oh Anna, I know just the man to take your mind off your recent break up. You see over there - the good looking one - no over there- there! The one in brown polyester

GypsyFl0ss · 12/06/2016 21:50

...with the clipboard.Rotaboy is his name.

AugustaFinkNottle · 12/06/2016 21:54

Roy does have history with the Older Woman (or middle aged tart as Phoebe memorably described her) so I reckon Anna is doomed.

Northernlurker · 12/06/2016 21:55

Yes! Brilliant! And then mid coitus they can talk about the case and Roy can fill Anna in on Kirsty and then she'll work the whole thing out and finally, finally ring Jess.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/06/2016 23:07

I was thinking Anna might be set up for Alistair if she can find him

TopazRocks · 13/06/2016 00:21

Alternative scenario: SHLL doesn't take 6 weeks off being SHLL so she can wash her mum's back. Cos after all she is SHLL and has clients .... Helen is screwed anyway - but much worse for her if she doesn't have Anna's visits/calls to look forward to. Jill moves into the cottage to care for Carol - and everyone at Brookfield starves to death. Sadly, they won't go quietly.

I think Dr Locke is too obvious for Anna's love interest - should she come to Ambridge. Though this being the Noo Archers, anything's possible. Alistair would be good - maybe they could go to a conference together. But lots of single men - Bert, Joe, Wayne, Roy , HHMNBN, I can't think of any others. Jim, Jazzer, Rob's dad .....

Lovely fred. Has there ever been a Fred on TA?

TopazRocks · 13/06/2016 00:22

Of course one half of Frilly.

choccyp1g · 13/06/2016 01:11

All the women have started sounding the same to me. In the picnic scene at the start of tonight's episode I thought: Christine and Jill , no Christine and Peggy, no Peggy and Jennifer, no Jill and Christine, finally decided Jill and Carole.

Or were they all there eating up the budget and the pies?

SybilEngineer · 13/06/2016 04:52

percy comment Grin

LillianGish · 13/06/2016 06:37

I loved last night's episode - I was busy picturing picnics and gardens and generally feeling as though I was in an English village at the height of summer. DS pulled me out of my reverie by asking "What's the point of this?" He's always had TA in the background, but has started listening more pointedly since the HellRob storyline - I had to explain that this was actually the point of TA (or at least it used to be Sad)

GypsyFl0ss · 13/06/2016 07:46

Yep choccy me too. I was convinced it was Jill and Christine.

ArgyMargy · 13/06/2016 08:15

Place marking - thanks Pseudo.

LillianGish · 13/06/2016 08:34

I have no problem distinguishing Carole - in fact I find her slightly irritating since she always imbues everything she is saying with such import, even if she's just commenting on the standard of the pork pies. Christine sounds more world-weary and apologetic. Peggy has a much bossier, know-all tone.

R4 · 13/06/2016 08:35

I laughed when Jill had finished her picnic and needed someone to carry her basket back home. She was frantically naming-from-afar lots of strong men who could do the job but who the budget wouldn't allow her to talk to.

Also the malarky about the shepherd's hut: Lynda went to Bert's garden, Bert inadvertently said something, Lynda clicked immediately that Something Was Not Right, raced home and called Joe & Eddie out on their subterfuge. Bingo. Sorted in 5 minutes.
Who needs SHLL? Just set Lynda to work, with her trusty sidekick PC Radio Carter, on some local gossip and Helen will be free in no time.
