Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

Pip fuelled by Lambrini...please save us.

Gruach · 22/06/2016 19:39

Usha - high flying lawyer
Ifty - Maths teacher, cricketer
Ashok - Engineer, maths genius

Amy's deceased mother - sent to prison long ago?
Pip's best friend at school - definitively of a different class, pregnancy scare.

Don't mind me. Just chuntering to myself ...

Fink · 22/06/2016 20:33

It's also quite unclear how Rex knew he was a Maths genius without actually talking to him. Was he wearing a geeky Maths t-shirt? Probably not since he was so amazingly attractive. Did he assume it based on the fact that he works with Alice? Did he overhear him mentioning a really complicated sum as he secretly listened in to his conversation with Pip? Or was he just racially stereotyping?

selsigfach · 22/06/2016 21:19

Ugh, cringe. I can't near drunk Pip (or sober Pip either). She knows Rex likes her, invites him out, gives him a big kiss then drops him for the new token brown person.

LillianGish · 22/06/2016 21:40

Wasn't this evening dire? The indistinguishable Fairbrethren (do I even care?), Kate/Edwina, Chris Carter's failure to appear at his own party (is he the new silent spouse to replace Frieda?) I feel as though all the plot lines are travelling along parallel tracks at the moment. Nothing links together anymore it's just lots of random incidents - the pilfered chickens, the sub-AbFab shenanigans at Home Farm, the mysterious crack at the Dower House, endless stretches of Pip wittering on - sub-plots which do nothing to contribute the main plot and which are not particularly gripping in themselves.

LyndaNotLinda · 22/06/2016 22:08

I've realised that I'm listening so inattentively at 7 that I'm quite surprised by a lot of what's on at 2 the next day. Normally the repeat is an opportunity to examine nuance. Now it's merely an opportunity to try to figure out which fairbro is which :(

DadDadDad · 22/06/2016 22:35

No self-respecting maths geek would wear that t-shirt surely as it doesn't make sense (mathematically speaking).

Source: I am a self-respecting maths geek.

SaraTheFairy · 22/06/2016 23:09

I bow to your superior knowledge D3.

GypsyFl0ss · 23/06/2016 06:22

Fink I thought Pip went and asked Alice about him and I'm assuming she came back and told Rex who then spread then word about the woefully stereotyped Bollywood handsome , extremely clever, Asian man.

ppeatfruit · 23/06/2016 07:47

Pip does seem to be quite promiscuous, Agree about the drunken scene , awful, the way she threw herself at Ashok, after Mathew, she has the Fairbrethren desperate to get into her knickers, she'll have to be careful.

Gruach · 23/06/2016 08:37

8.34 Today prog. Coercive control. Serious discussion on "the choice to leave" and the need for all concerned bodies to be ready to recognize it.

StarfishandToffee · 23/06/2016 08:38

Has anyone read the latest Lowfield synopsis......
Toby has better things to do than look after hens and goslings, namely work on his promotion film. The usual wooden exchange, akin to the first rehearsal of a school play ensues

TheAntiBoop · 23/06/2016 08:56

I heard that gruach. I think it's unfortunate they used that case though.

Yes lowfield has some good lines!

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/06/2016 09:01

Lowfield often asks for volunteers to write the synopses.

I think there are several posters here who should offer their services.

allegretto · 23/06/2016 09:07

What's the Lowfield synopsis?

StarfishandToffee · 23/06/2016 09:09

Lowfield summary

Gumpendorf · 23/06/2016 10:20

Thanks starfish. I haven't listened to last night and I might give it a miss now. It sounds dreadful.

Grauch, was the CC discussion related to the Ellie Butler murder? I did think of Rob when I read some of the evidence yesterday. SadAngry

Gruach · 23/06/2016 10:23

Yes. There was a why? about the child's mother. And how hard it might be to leave.

R4 · 23/06/2016 10:41

I thought Pip went and asked Alice about him and I'm assuming she came back and told Rex who then spread then word about the woefully stereotyped Bollywood handsome, extremely clever, Asian man.

Just the sort that farriers hang out with. So not only did Chris's party not have Chris in attendance, it didn't have his friends either - only Alice's.Confused

R4 · 23/06/2016 10:44

And remind me not to go to any parties organised by the SW. Do people really stand around discussing poultry and each other's Maths prowess? Don't people normally gossi... no, silly me - this is Ambridge where nobody gossips about anything ever.

ppeatfruit · 23/06/2016 11:27

Well you were the lucky one to be invited R4 Grin How do you know Chris and his mates weren't sitting in the garden or somewhere?

ArgyMargy · 23/06/2016 11:49

At least drunk Pip was consistent with sober Pip - and believably annoying. Perhaps she's a better actor than I previously thought. However I can't see why the Fairbrethren fancy her so I'm sticking to my original "enormous breasts" theory.

Can one of the wise ones tell me where Lowfield got its name?

Gumpendorf · 23/06/2016 14:00

Thanks, Grauch. Appalling case.

Gruach · 23/06/2016 14:15

Akash not Ashok - misremembered.

Still not pleased. Angry
