I feel sorry for anyone who's just decided that Gideon is a good name for their new baby son.

IggyPopsicle · 22/05/2016 20:19

There's no way he'll be registered as Gideon. Helen will surely see sense and name him Balonz Tyson Archer, obviously.

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:19

I quite like GideonBlush.

R4 · 22/05/2016 20:20

Do you think that the SW and Pat Gallimore are in cahoots and taking the piss out of SOC and his silly SL. When we had Pat wailing "I should be there." and "Do you think they will look after her." I was thinking "are you on glue! Who should be looking after her if not the maternity unit of a hospital?" And then Peggy voiced my exact thoughts.
It's got to be a wind-up, non?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/05/2016 20:21

I'd forgotten BalonzGrin

I hope sge calls him Ian Charlie John Miles Archer

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:24

I've just read Judges 6. There's a resonance with Helen's desperate situation. Is there more to SOC or Helen than we think?

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 20:24

I had a quick read of the gov site and it really doesn't seem like you need anything other than proof of ID for a married person to register a birth. It does seem ridiculously open to abuse tbh. It does say that some registrars ask to see the babies red medical book, which could potentially cause Knob trouble as he wouldn't have that if Helen won't let have access.
But DDD is right, what ever the finer details of it are we can rest assured SOC will make a total balls up of it.

I was so hoping baby would of been a surprise girl and that would then lead to Knob and Arse losing all interest and quietly fucking off into the distance

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:28

I'm sure there was a piece of paper with the babies date of birth and place that dh had t take with him. Same in two different hospitals. I'll ask him later.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 20:29

Oh BeauSadFlowers

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:34

It's fine. My apologies. Was a very long time ago.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 20:38

No need to apologise, am just sorry it brings up painful memories x

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/05/2016 20:42

He also won't know the exact time of birth.

It varies from country to country bute.g. in US it looks like they are often registered in hospital by the mother.

In Scotland it can be changed from.I think one month after the deadline which is shorter north of the border.

So pitentially he could get round not having the correct info by changing it after H has suppliex the correct info.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 20:43

Knob was being pretty nasty to his Mum tonight...it did sound like she was finding him pretty unpleasant but wouldn't dare call him out on it. Years of the same treatment from Bruce.

I wish they would just leave the whole storyline alone for a couple of weeks, we all need a break from it!

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:46

No, honestly, I'd never questioned or thought about DH doing the registering but I do remember him taking the envelope with the paperwork/certificate from the hospital with him for ds1 and dd (born in different hospitals). He'll come down at 10 for a whiskey and I'll ask.

Have often wondered why there have been occasional threads on here about registering the birth being a family/joint event but that of course is because I trust dh implicitly. Take it for granted really. Bloody awful if women can't. Has made me think.

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 21:11

For couples that are not married it has to be a joint event if the father's name is to be on the birth cert.

I can't remember what we took when we registered the births...other than the baby itself Smile

AugustaFinkNottle · 22/05/2016 21:19

I couldn't understand Pat wailing about how dreadful it was that Helen had been in labour all night. A 12-18 hour (or thereabouts) labour is hardly unknown, is it?

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 21:20

Yes when DD was born we weren't married so both had to go to register. We're now married and so if we have another baby I would be happy for DH to go on his own if it was easier that way. Although probably like last time we'll combine it with going out somewhere but if I'm feeling too knackered it is nice to think we have the option of not all having to make the trip. All the same I'd rather the rules were change to protect parents (and their children) who aren't in a happy, trusting marriage.

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 21:23

In our area Child Health are notified of births by the hospital / midwives for home births and then disseminate that info to GP/ HV etc online.A quick google albeit from an archived article says that they used to send that info weekly to their local registrar of births and deaths office. I'm assuming that is done daily online now. In order to do it Knob will have to travel to register Gideon ( bwahahahaha) where he was born.

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 21:25

Us too ColdTea . In fact the second time round we booked our marriage ceremony at the same time.

Minimammoth · 22/05/2016 21:27

Direct swap then, Gideon for Henry.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/05/2016 21:29

Someone on twitter says registrars go to MBUs.

I just rememberex twunt tried to make me walk to the register office. Not the nearest one either the one where he was regiatered, 6 miles away because he said it would be good for a post partum bfing mother of twins with really bad anaemia me.Confused

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 21:38

Mini that's exactly what my mum suggested.

Small that make sense as the residents won't be going anywhere.
What a dick!

NotdeadyetBOING · 22/05/2016 22:01

Total non sequitur, but wonder if anyone else LA'd to the repeat of Thursday evening's episode on Friday lunchtime? Noticed they left out the bit where Tony charmingly asked his ma what he was going to do when she DIED. Was replaced by 'when you aren't here'.

Now come ON Helen. Talk to Peggy who is now my new hero as the only one talking some sense. Actually v. refreshing to have an elderly woman portrayed as being so rational and competent. Makes a change from the usual patronising 'silly old woman' characterisation. They need to not have her SOHMC just when she is getting into her stride so brilliantly.

TopazRocks · 22/05/2016 22:06

Well, it's obvious we'll now have Arsula bullied into taking Knob to see the Knoblet while they are still in hospital. Nobody can stop him seeing his spawn, even Peggoi will express that view. They'll have a bit of script where U and Rob are chuntering on in the car about EVIL it is of Hellin to get put in a prison so far from Ambridge. Poor dear Rob with his wounds AND don't forget his stoma! Then U will happen on Peggy in the hospital cafe, have a vaguely friendly cuppa and nick the red book that was helpfully sticking out of P's bag. Then Gideon will be named.

Fast forward a decade or so, and Gideon will change his name to George - and leave Hogwarts and become an MP. Every so often we'll be able to hear about his VERY EXPENSIVE therapy sessions, blamed on his EVIL mother of course. But we'll all know - if we've stuck it out with the avid listening - that it's the Titchener family that have caused the damage.

Every so ofthen pat will wail about 'losing' another grandson, even though she had no idea about Johnny for all those years. I too like the idea that Gallimore is taking the piss. She used to eb not a bad actress.

Minimammoth · 22/05/2016 22:18

Gideon will be gay.
