It sounds like Arsula's teeth are about to come out at any minute.

R4 · 22/05/2016 19:18

Jeepers that was painful
Pat: wails
Helen: wails
Pat: wail some more
Peggy: I'm a strong woman
Helen: wails some more. probs with PND thrown in.

Don't listen unless you really have to. It's too painful.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 19:19

If the parents are married yes. Yet another stupid law in his country that favours men Angry

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 19:19

I think Hell will want Jonathan Anthony Thomas.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 19:19

*this

BYOSnowman · 22/05/2016 19:20

This is just turning into farce

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 22/05/2016 19:20

Pahahaha
Oh my giddy aunt.

DadDadDad · 22/05/2016 19:21

We discussed birth registration a few days ago on this thread (or was it one of the other TA threads, there are a few kicking around these days Smile). As Rob is married to the mother, I think he can go and register the birth without the mother or baby.

EBearhug · 22/05/2016 19:21

Gideon?
Just makes me think of George Osborne. (Once, I used to think of bibles and swine.)

Gruach · 22/05/2016 19:21

Farce I could stand. Farcical misery fest is a step too far.

Why am I listening when I'm truly not enjoying it any more?

Thymeout · 22/05/2016 19:23

Doesn't he have to have some sort of chit from the hospital to register the birth? He can't just rock up to the Register Office.

DadDadDad · 22/05/2016 19:23

ColdTea - that's a bit harsh. When my wife was stuck in hospital with a premature child, it was one less thing for her to worry about that I could go off and register the birth.

It does surprise me how you don't have to give any evidence of the birth or the relationship, but I assume it is reconciled to hospital records at some point.

GypsyFl0ss · 22/05/2016 19:25

It does Wips. Fair makes my stomach turn. Add in her sing song pantomime baddy delivery and I find myself cringing when she speaks.

No mean feat for Helen to establish breastfeeding her son conceived by rape.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 19:26

Technically the law is equal as it states for a married couple, either parent can register a birth on their own. But let's face it, when one of you has just given birth, chances are it's going to be the father who can get to the registry office quickest. This puts women like Helens at a huge disadvantage.

Thymeout · 22/05/2016 19:26

Sorry DDD - you know better. Agree it does seem odd.

DadDadDad · 22/05/2016 19:27

Here's the official website. www.gov.uk/register-birth/overview

One stumbling block for Rob is he needs to know the place of birth.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/05/2016 19:29

No I'm sorry DDD it's not harsh, the law gives men the advantage when women are at their most vulnerable. Yes in a happy relationship it's very convenient for all concerned but for the all the Helens out there it's yet another thing they have very little control over.

DadDadDad · 22/05/2016 19:30

I seem to recall that after registration, you can change the child's name any time before the first(?) birthday, but I can't see that on the government site.

lljkk · 22/05/2016 19:32

FB groups are saying Rob will struggle to register bubba without redbook. Peggoid will have that, methinks.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 22/05/2016 19:34

What is the matter with Arsula's delivery. It makes listening to her very hard on the ears

She's awful. Terrible panto villain. Tonight's was unlistenable all round.

DadDadDad · 22/05/2016 19:39

Actually, I was just going to get sucked in to searching the web for the legalities of a father registering a birth, but then I remembered that facts like that are not going to stop the SW doing whatever makes the most compelling storyline.... Confused

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2016 19:40

The only tolerable bit was Kirsty and Arse going at each other.

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 19:57

DH registered all three of ours. I think he needed to have a piece of paper from the hospital to do so. For DS2 he had to have the piece of paper for the birth and the death certificate. It didn't dawn on me that he'd had to do that on his own until years later. Sad Apologies - brought I back a bit. I really don't think the father can just turn up and register a birth without a document but I don't remember having to sign anything to say I was in agreement over names, etc. Thankfully he got them all right and mine. He put my date of birth incorrectly on countless documents until I picked it up. Yep, he thought his wife was born a day before she actually was Grin.

And I am so cross I missed it and will miss it tomorrow too. Grrrrr. What was I thinking. I was thinking that it wasn't on on Sundays.

LyndaNotLinda · 22/05/2016 20:09

Flowers Beau

Honestly you didn't miss much tonight. Just a lot wailing and Arsula treating Rob as though he has brain damage (who was it who said it sounds like she has ill-fitting dentures? Have finally clicked (hoho) what you mean!

Dullest birth ever

BeauGlacons · 22/05/2016 20:11

As his brain, such as it is, is mostly below his waist, Arse is probably treating him appropriately.
