I think the cop caught onto the fact that he was trying to spin a story about his wife, that it was important to Rob that he knew he had the cop's sympathy... but why wouldn't you be sympathetic to a man who nearly lost his life by violence? What is Rob scared of? Would it niggle at the cop that he was obsessed with explaining his wife's character. Is that a common way for an innocent victim to react? He actually said how much he wanted to control her. He said that Helen was spying on him, but the only evidence the cops have is that he was tracking her.

Sadly, the only bit that may be tested in court is his statement about the exact events after he got home that evening. I wonder up to what point he can "remember" what happened....

Yes, Pat is Welsh. This goes back to before my time, but she came to the village first to stay with her uncle, Hayde Evans, who I believe was very Welsh indeed. Once established in Ambridge, Pat appears to have cut off her Welsh family entirely, as not a single member of her own family has ever been mentioned on air in the 35 years I've been listening to TA. The only Welsh connection she's ever had was that when she was depressed after John died she went to stay in a convent in Wales for a time - apocryphally, according to the old BBC Archers messageboard, she stayed with the nuns in Prestatyn, but I don't know if that was literally what was written at the time.

I am just catching up on the podcasts and didn't see the point in place marking because I thought this thread would be full before I was caught up but it seems to have slowed to a crawl.
