I do hope Lynda has a carbon monoxide monitor in there...

HAYDN! Not Hayde. Blush

BeauGlacons · 22/04/2016 19:51

Her family are witnesses to the fact that they weren't together 24/7. Helen was at home, Rob was in the shop.

FOUND YOU! I can't keep up with these threads.

BoffinMum · 22/04/2016 20:07

Surely the police aren't so daft they would drink in all of that Knob statement stuff and not so much as question any of it??

I really thought the police were more intelligent than that it's a drama

EBearhug · 22/04/2016 20:10

It's like Midsommer (sp?)

Slightly higher chance of survival, mind you.

(I think it's Midsomer.)

lljkk · 22/04/2016 20:13

We don't know what was in the statement. The rest of his spin was to try to get the cop to reveal something. The cop may be on to that... why did he need the cop to reveal what cops thought? He was fishing for info about Hell now and what had she told him. What was he hiding?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 22/04/2016 20:33

At the risk of coming full circle on custardgate I think he rather over egged it.

I thought it sounded plausibly Rob.

Confused

400 posts in four days is slow by recent standards but there was a time round these parts when that would have been considered brisk! [wistful]

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/04/2016 21:07

I used to work with a woman who may have been a narcissist. Certainly everything was all about her. It was very noticeable that her memories of things were quite different from mine - she remembered a version of events that would accord with her world view. Mine tended to be more objective (well, I thought they were Grin). It wouldn't surprise me if Rob has just told us how he really does see the world, or at any rate how he's rewritten events in his own mind, anyway.

Wolpertinger · 22/04/2016 21:10

I thought Rob sounded absolutely like Rob. I hadn't really thought about it but clearly he would realise your wife doesn't suddenly stab you for no reason so he would have to work on a story.

His story however sounded like the greatest gift the defence has had so far. He's going to struggle not to sound like a misogynistic, homophobic knob in court. Even the policewoman didn't sound convinced by it.

glowfrog · 22/04/2016 21:12

Haven't listened for a few days but listened tonight. Just when you thought Rob couldn't be any more of a dick, his dickdom reaches new heights.

I agree with MovingOn - I think he over-egged it massively. Why on earth imply/claim Helen was having some kind of lesbian affair?!

Two things off top of my head have given me hope:

  1. he's claimed Helen was trying to control him - must mean he doesn't know the cops know HE was tracking HER phone? Hoping that will trip him up

  2. maybe it was just poor acting but I thought the policewoman sounded almost unsympathetic. She could have been a bit warmer. Maybe she's gay and didn't appreciate Rob's snide remarks about possible affair between H and K

I think Rob made a big mistake with all his embellishments. If you're going to lie, it's best to stick to the truth as much as possible. I wonder when/how we will find out how he described the events of that night.

"First she made a tuna bake and she knows I hate tuna. Then she insisted I made homemade custard and when it curdled, that's when she stabbed me."

If only Helen had visited her local children's centre, she might have seen this sign...

I think policewoman was fairly sympathetic considering she just wanted him to tell her about that day and he was wanting to go round the houses. She seemed alone though which was very unusual for such an important statement

Shallishanti · 22/04/2016 22:09

If Borsetshire is anywhere like the rest of the UK, Helen's chances of finding a children's centre are rapidly declining Sad

Putthetulipsthere · 22/04/2016 22:44

MrsKwazi, 😁😁 Love the idea of a multiple job share.

I can't believe they haven't recruited someone yet. They announced SOC was going two months ago ( I remember as it coincided with my birthday - a perfect present from the BBC). They said he'd leave in two months and yet he shows no sign of going.

Maybe he's convinced himself TA can't cope without him, that he never resigned ( or pushed) and no one want's to say anything?

Putthetulipsthere · 22/04/2016 22:45

Or was pushed

lottiegarbanzo · 22/04/2016 22:52

I don't believe a genuine victim would present a narrative like that. There'd be much more 'I don't know', disjointedness, shock and shakiness. Far less 'this is the story, got it?'.

I agree. Lots more of, "oh yeah, I forgot to mention, no that's not right, because it was before that incident, and I can't quite remember." He did have a couple of bits of can't quite remember, but it did feel rehearsed rather than genuine.

selsigfach · 22/04/2016 23:46

Can't wait for him to get his come uppance.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 23/04/2016 00:06

It didn't go unnoticed that Rob was trying to control the situation.

Whenever I've been interviewed by the police only twice and for nothing very exciting you do as you're told and answer the questions asked. You don't push it or try to control the interview.

Limelight · 23/04/2016 00:40

Just listened. Oh! He's such a bastard!!

EBearhug · 23/04/2016 00:46

Yeah, but you don't have SOC in the background.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 23/04/2016 01:28

That's true EBearhug Grin

glowfrog · 23/04/2016 05:54

am assuming he said she told him she was leaving - after he made dinner and everything - he was pleading with her to stay and that's when she stabbed him.

But maybe at the very least it might help her claim diminished responsibility?

Minimammoth · 23/04/2016 06:52

I am beginning to think I don't have time for this in my life, as an entertainment. The Archers used to be relaxing and amusing.
