Rob - dead? No, no, he's, er, resting. He's just pining for the Canadian plains. As Helen is taken into custardy, discuss the Archers here.

I'm place marking. I knew this would happen when I finally gave in and posted my first contribution to an Archers thread! I'm going to wean myself off for a while. Good luck to all for tonight.

Marchate · 05/04/2016 15:05

The SWs will be on the lookout for cases brought against perpetrators of Coersive Control. There aren't enough (any?) real life prosecutions (yet) to know how trials will proceed

Minimammoth · 05/04/2016 15:08

I thought the aftermath episode sounded ok, Peggy etc behaving normally, imo.
The woman police officer not so good.
I am relieved not to be hearing Rob. I hope Helen is going to get some good support now, counselling and advice.
Perhaps Rob raised his hands to protect himself. ( too much silent witness)
We need Dr Locke, he has forensic experience. Oh no not in this manifestation!

GypsyFl0ss · 05/04/2016 15:23

I would imagine that Henry will ok to stay with PatnTone. Children and families services / social care will be called by police and they will assess the suitability of the placement. I can't imagine how Ursula would have any claim nor indeed want any claim over poor Henry and hopefully Knob won't be in a position to argue. If he does then we can only hope that Kirsty has spilled the beans on Knob and the Bridge farm Achers spring in to action.

GypsyFl0ss · 05/04/2016 15:25

Vango I'm with you on the secretly hoping for a girl but I have to warn you my predictions on these threads are generally shite so don't be putting any money on our hunch Grin

SausagesAndLaughter · 05/04/2016 15:37

Yes I hope Helen has a girl and she names her Kirsty, just to really twist the knife in Rob, if you'll pardon the distateful pun there!

JasperDamerel · 05/04/2016 15:48

A girl would be nice, but Helen's had lots of scans and boy predictions are generally accurate, so it seems unlikely. Although possibly more likely than the stabbing, so who knows?

Gruach · 05/04/2016 16:07

Someone on this thread, about a million threads ago, theorised that Rob might well have met his match in Helen ...

Time to step forward for your medal.Star

If Sunday night was Sunday night and Monday night was also Sunday night, do we think tonight will jump to tonight (ie Tuesday) and if so will we find out what happened last night (ie Monday)?

I know what I mean...

SausagesAndLaughter · 05/04/2016 16:34

KingscoteStaff The way things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Helen woke up and the last two years had been a dream. We learn that Henry is actually a teenager and Rob never existed...in fact all this time she's been in a relationship with Jazzer Grin

Toooldtobearsed · 05/04/2016 16:37

Now then. Supposing Helen is deemed unfit for interview at moment. Rob wakes up and insists that Helen did nothing, it was him being clumsy (I know, I know). The police then would have no case against her, but Rob would have her under his thumb forever.

Possible?

SausagesAndLaughter · 05/04/2016 16:38

Very possible, TooOld

EnglishFern · 05/04/2016 16:43

Oooooooooh tooold SO possible!

EnglishFern · 05/04/2016 16:44

I have never written a post with such a high ratio of o's

Just sayin.

DadDadDad · 05/04/2016 16:44

That's a good question, Kingscote. I suppose we need to think about what scenes need to come next. Police interviewing Helen - presumably that mainly happened on Monday? Medical progress of Rob? Presumably that could be covered indirectly, eg Pat telling someone they don't know very much, but hospital is doing what it can? Pat and Tony quizzing Kirsty about what is actually going on? That opportunity might not come until Monday evening?

EasyToEatTiger · 05/04/2016 16:44

Rob was in a great hurry to have PR over Henry rather than formally adopt. I reckon he's got previous. I expect I got that idea from here. I am beginning to dread listening. I used to enjoy listening in and picking up another time. Now, it is, oh god, what now? I have never watched EE for any great length of time. As a student I watched Neighbours. I really hope this doesn't happen to TA. Perhaps it's an attempt to draw in a younger audience. After all, all the oldies won't be around for so long.....

DadDadDad · 05/04/2016 16:46

I think it's already been established that Rob saying "Helen never touched me, it was all an accident" is not going to be enough to deter the police - the wounds are serious enough that a crime needs to be prosecuted whatever Rob says (and the wounds are evidence enough given what the doctor said to CID).

YesterdayOnceMore · 05/04/2016 16:52

I'm sad for the PP who found out what had happened in The Archers by seeing this thread title. It's not a Spoiler as episode already broadcast and it has been everywhere, but still sad for that listener! If you were an Omnibus listener, you would t know you had to listen live this week as Sunday's episode came on so suddenly.

And I also agree with Wannabe's post pages back about Helen actually being guilty. The stabbing wasn't proportionate or justified, unless we hear more details of what actually happened as the grunting wasn't clear.

Also- do we know Henry actually witnessed the stabbing? When Rob shouted at him ("come here you little...") before he was stabbed, did Henry turn and run off not seeing what happened next? It would go a little way towards explaining why he wasn't upset and bought the line about Daddy having a rest on the floor.

DadDadDad · 05/04/2016 16:52

I expect I got that idea from here - probably Easy. Although there might be some unknowns about Rob's past, I think at the time the PR v adoption twist was more about Rob wrong-footing Helen. She seemed to be (literally) throwing up at the idea of Rob adopting Henry, but at least thought that would take months to happen. Then, Rob sprang PR and had it done and dusted in days (?) - how could Helen object - more evidence of his control over her and Henry.

BYOSnowman · 05/04/2016 17:02

The worst outcome for me will be if they follow the worst case scenario for Helen. Eg everyone believing she is the abuser

I would hate for anyone listening to think this single it would play out for them if they left

I still think if rob had previous it would have been mentioned in his police interview at the time of sab attack

AugustaFinkNottle · 05/04/2016 17:03

Now then. Supposing Helen is deemed unfit for interview at moment. Rob wakes up and insists that Helen did nothing, it was him being clumsy (I know, I know).

That reminds me of that line in Chicago - "Then he ran into my knife. He ran into my knife ten times" Wink

AugustaFinkNottle · 05/04/2016 17:07

I've been trying to remember how they dealt with the week-long night of the flood and how they caught up with real time. I've got a feeling that it all got a bit vague and they slid over it, but that was probably easier to do with a story like that. Maybe we'll just have a catch-up with the police where they summarise in a couple of minutes what Helen's told them and, with any luck, decide to do some more digging into Rob's background.

Toooldtobearsed · 05/04/2016 17:08

And the problem with that is, Augusta? [Grin]

YesterdayOnceMore · 05/04/2016 17:11

Augusta

He had it coming
He only had himself to blame
If you'd have been there
If you'd have seen it
I betcha you would have done the same"
