As I said on the last thread I do worry that they're going to do an all out Soapy cover up - feed him to Tom's pigs.

Shit. Was really cheering Hel re the Tuna bake and then. All this shit. He. Had. Better. Not. Be dead.

AnnieNoMouse · 03/04/2016 20:29

BYOS - I think the figure for women killed by partners or exes is one or two a week - no idea what that is as a percentage, but guess it's much higher than the number of females killing abusive males

PseudoBadger · 03/04/2016 20:30

Olivia!!!!! We really really need SOC for a web chat now.

Of all the endings to this SL, this has to be the worst option.

Irresponsible, unsatisfying to listeners and incredible and just shittily soapy. Is that bloody bullshit emoticon ready yet?

God, it's put me in such a bad mood now grrrrrh!

GigotdAgneau · 03/04/2016 20:30

That's what I think too, SmallLegs. It has been from reading these threads where women who are/have been in similar situations to Hellbent's that I have realised that SOC and Keri Davies are talking/writing bollocks. I feel so strongly that real life experiences should not be melodramatised (is that a word?) in order to bump up ratings (success?) with a stabbing in this situation. Bloody furious.

Gherkinsmummy · 03/04/2016 20:31

Whole! Bloody phone.

drspouse · 03/04/2016 20:31

I was under the impression she was expecting him much later - so maybe expecting to bundle Henry in the car and leave a note saying "hope you like the burnt tuna casserole".

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/04/2016 20:32

I think she though [telling him] was the decent thing to do. Or maybe even that he would do the decent thing and F off.

But I am just so annoyed.
Brookside- body under patio.
Eastenders- whacked with an iron.
Coronation street- battered to death with an ornament.

And at least in 2 of those cases they had left, repeatedly so it was a last resort and they had some defence.

The number of women who kill their abusive partners is vanishingly rare. Far more likely to be killed. And even that is more rare than just leaving.

So mow she will go to prison. What a brilliant outcome for Henry.

I am so, so, so very disappointed.

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 20:33

Annie - I meant the second statistic - I'm guessing it happens very rarely yet that is the outcome they thought would be best. Pile of crap

PseudoBadger · 03/04/2016 20:33

Oh oh oh! Scooby Do ending: Helen pulls off her face to reveal that in fact it was JESS, come back to finish what she should've done years ago. And she would've got away with it too...

Hellin's got a QC volunteering to defend her already Grin

And we get the delightful sl of a mother giving birth in custody

shinynewusername · 03/04/2016 20:34

And medically, as a former A&E doctor, I really struggle to think of a scenario where you are rapidly unconscious from being stabbed but not deaded, despite no first aid. If you lose conscious rapidly, you either have a massive haemorrhage or the knife wound is to the heart/great blood vessels. Either way, you not going to be revived after an hour or so lying on the floor while a pie gently burns in the Aga.

So either he is dead - which is crap from a narrative point of view - or he isn't - which is crap from a medical reality POV. Either way, poor show, SOC, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 20:34

What happened to the pie?

WipsGlitter · 03/04/2016 20:34

Marking. My bet is he's not dead just passed out.

AbelMancwitch · 03/04/2016 20:34

Good god. There are some unanswered questions there aren't there?! (Which poster on last thread asked why she put Henwee to bed and made a meal- wtf did Helen think Rob would do?!) Also, doesn't it feel a bit like after 2 years of a slow burn it's all just happened in a bit of a rush? Hmm

Abraid2 · 03/04/2016 20:35

His fingerprints will be on the knife. That will count in her favour.

Who are the neighbours? Would they have heard shouting? I suppose it's detached.

PseudoBadger · 03/04/2016 20:35

I'm going to listen again now whilst I walk the dogs

Almost like soc wanted a big send off??

Helenluvsrob · 03/04/2016 20:36

Minor lacerations and banged head on the way down? Just fainted?

lljkk · 03/04/2016 20:37

If it's shown that she stabbed him beyond the point of rendering him incapacitated, then it is more serious offence she'd be tried for. Goes beyond the force allowed for self-defence, iyswim. Knob couldn't stop her being tried... aggravated assault? I'm sure all the lawyer pundits will be on radio in coming weeks to explain.

Gruach · 03/04/2016 20:38

Answering my own question - tonight's was written by Tim Stimpson.

(Nothing to do with KD ...)

Vango · 03/04/2016 20:38

Whether Rob lives or dies I agree that it's a terrible shame that the SWs and SOC have wasted such an important opportunity to reflect a more realistic real-life ending. By that I don't mean that people aren't killed, just that there can be another way to end an abusive relationship. With an unprecedented amount of media coverage, two actors who take their roles and responsibilities so seriously, and a huge upsurge in listening figures they have wasted a valuable opportunity to show that there can be life after abuse. The story could have been a valuable tool in educating listeners about the help available, the hurdles they might face regarding custody, how to reverse PR and how to rebuild trust after such a violation.

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 20:38

The archers Twitter is exceedingly smug isn't it?
