Thanks to Lancelottie for the title Flowers

Seek Grin Helen would make a good Carol (we will ignore the poor woman who shacks up with the Governor and whose daughter gets nibbled).

Sorry for thread derail.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/03/2016 23:35

Oh no, Helen is not Carol. At all.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/03/2016 23:36

Finding it hard to articulate why. I'm a bit pissed tipsy for reasons that are not mine to tell but are totally bloody marvellous!

DadDadDad · 31/03/2016 23:37

Looks like we've had 268 posts in the past twenty four hours, which doesn't touch the Kirsty/Tom wedding which generated 329 in a day. And I don't think any other recent 24h has spiked that much. What has been remarkable recently is the persistently high rate of posting over many days.

glowfrog · 31/03/2016 23:50

Oh I don't know. I can see Helen as crazy-ruthless-kill-fluey-people-in-their-sleep type.

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/03/2016 23:51

And the delurkers! It's lovely to see them all

You all have to stay now. Tis the law.

glowfrog · 31/03/2016 23:51

But glad you've had some good news, BitOut.

Here ---> Wine

glowfrog · 31/03/2016 23:54

3D I know for a fact you're not him, but all your spreadsheets and data make me think of my DH.

Many moons ago, he kept a similar track of things on a thread we were both on in a different forum/website... And that's how we met, on that thread. :-)

DadDadDad · 01/04/2016 00:03

I feel old. I don't think websites really existed when I first met my wife (and spreadsheets were pretty rudimentary too).

magnificatAnimaMea · 01/04/2016 00:04

I suggested the phone from Kirsty on the Hut construction thread (Thu 17-Mar-16 21:52:41). I think I am totally overinfvested in this storyline... Blush

DadDadDad · 01/04/2016 00:05

But, sorry, that's a lovely story: it warms my heart to hear that a spreadsheet helped bring two people together. Flowers

SuffolkNWhat · 01/04/2016 00:05

Towel marking, not listened to today's yet and a bit worried to now, I think Wine will be needed for it!

DadDadDad · 01/04/2016 00:06

I think I am totally overinfvested in this storyline... - well, you're in good company here then! Grin

magnificatAnimaMea · 01/04/2016 00:06

glowfrog that sounds nicely geeky Grin

Am i weird that I actually know lots of couples that have been brought together by similar kinds of things?

DH and I got together by discussing Dasher at a party where we were the only non-lawyers in the room...

Greengager · 01/04/2016 00:11

Horrible listening today I really hope that this is getting towards a resolution soon.

Lancelottie · 01/04/2016 00:13

DadDadDad, if it makes you feel any better, we got together by fax.

Tried and failed to explain that one to the kids.

DadDadDad · 01/04/2016 00:18

We wrote letters to each other - yes, those paper things you put a stamp on and wait to pass through the postal system; no, we didn't write using a quill.

magnificatAnimaMea · 01/04/2016 00:26

Never used letters, but I do get the thrill of (not so) early romances every time I start up talk

AugustaFinkNottle · 01/04/2016 00:42

Does anyone else get the sense that, all over the country, people are bracing themselves and gritting their teeth at 7.02 pm in anticipation of whatever horrors are to come?

spiker · 01/04/2016 00:43

DH and I conducted our early courting during office hours (where the computers were) via the exciting new medium of email - I think he was the only other person I knew with an account. It was terribly exciting in 1997. I have them all saved on a floppy somewhere so effectively irretrievable

poppyknot · 01/04/2016 02:19

I am just thinking :-
What does Dr Lock know?
Why Rob not go for full adoption rather than lesser step parent?

EBearhug · 01/04/2016 03:07

Pine email client (which I still use on rare occasions from the data centre.) And IRC (which I still use daily at work.) Why are we talking about my daily work antiquated Unix programs anyway?

Anyway... we don't know why Rob didn't go for adoption, but we assume it is because it's a more involved process than getting parental responsibility, with more background checks, and there's something in Rob's past (like a conviction for assault or rape or something), which he'd rather not have to talk about. Because obviously it would all have been a big misunderstanding and he's not actually guilty and he was driven to it, because he's not a monster, darling.

JessTitchener · 01/04/2016 03:23

I'm awake with the lurgy and had a fever induced Archers dream earlier.

In my dream I was Jess Titchener and (in a plot nicked from a Nicci French novel) Helen and I faked my death and framed Knob for it.

We had help from Usha and it worked a treat.

I'll go back to bed now the Lemsip seems to be kicking in.

magnificatAnimaMea · 01/04/2016 05:23

EBearhug Grin I think it was attempts to out-geek glowfrog. I use Alpine all the time; unfortunately the only person I know/want to talk to who uses IRC is DH, and i use talk with him if not actually talking to him, so I kind of have no reason to use IRC!

Scarydinosaurs · 01/04/2016 05:43

Top marks for Easter egg prediction too!

I wonder if they will have Helen telephoning Jess tonight for their Friday cliffhanger?
