Kathy was raped by the chef at lower loxley I thought

Kr1stina · 11/03/2016 16:25

Someone should start a thread as Helen. It would be good publicity for MN. As long as everyone was lovely of course

< ponders for 30 seconds >

Ok scrap that idea . It would be a bunfight. Lots of kind sensible posters would tell her to phone women's aid, do the freedom programme , read the Lundy Bancroft book, confide in her brother / friend .

Then nutters would come along and say

Typical Mumsnet, it's always LTB
You wouldnt say that if the OP was male
So you'll have two children with no father?
Why did you have a baby with him then ?
Is this your PFB < head tilt >
It's just your hormones
You are not starving and living in a cardboard box, how dare you complain
Tell him how you feel, he can't read your mind
He sounds great , I wish my DH was so attentive
Your MIL sounds lovely, shes obviously worried about you
I wish my ILs would pay my kids school fees
He allows you to be a SAMH and you don't do all the housework ?
First world problem

It would be a bunfight because a lot of posters absolutely hate fictional AIBUs. I did one once about the Bloomsbury set which I thought was blindingly obviously fictional and I was absolutely flamed. You'd have thought I'd wasted the time of an emergency team of medics on their way to an earthquake, not a few people killing time on the internet. Grin

You'll get a sense of how it would be received if you look at this old thread, which is what brought me here in the first place.

BYOSnowman · 11/03/2016 16:43

What if you put it in radio addicts?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/03/2016 16:48

AskingForAPal - yes, I did see it earlier this week! Absolutely loved it.

Domestic abuse in Ambridge:

Nora Salt was before my time.

Jack Archer was an alcoholic and no longer speaking by the time I became a listener. Don't know whether he was abusive, but life was not easy for Peggy and the the children, as they all occasionally mention.

Simon Pemberton hit Shula, his partner at the time, and she didn't go to the police. They split up and he got together with Debbie. Shula didn't warn her. He hit Debbie too, and she did go to the police. Shula came forward to give evidence. He was convicted but got off with a caution/fine/community service/suspended sentence - can't remember what it was, just that it wasn't a custodial sentence.

(Simon Gerrard was Debbie's Canadian academic husband. He was a serial adulterer, but not physically abusive.)

Owen was the chef at Lower Loxley who raped Kathy. He eventually went to prison after being arrested for another rape somewhere else. Kathy gave evidence.

There's been a lot of other lawlessness but I can't off the top of my head recall any other instances of violence/abuse against women.

I've done a Helen thread before. People hated it. Sad

gasp my favourite post on that thread you linked to is:

Oh pleeeease don't tell me that I have, for no good reason whatsoever, just read a thread about the bloody archers???

^^

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/03/2016 17:20

Grin Grin Grin

recyclingbag · 11/03/2016 17:26

Wasn't there a great AIBU thread as Ruth when David changed his kind about selling up?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/03/2016 17:33

Yes, but the OP has gone.

GruntledOne · 11/03/2016 17:35

Interesting that Shula has form for not telling the police things they need to know and her failure having significant repercussions for other people. Clearly she doesn't learn from her experiences.

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2016 17:46

I also did this which went down like a lead balloon www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2337833-AIBU-to-think-my-brother-owes-me-this-money?pg=1&order=

Well, I just had a massive catch up on this thread and suddenly realised I hadn't heard the kitchen timer go. Cue a slightly overdone pizza for DS's tea... Spooky! To double down on the irony DH is upstairs having a quick kip Grin!

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2016 17:48

My favourite comment on the above thread was "What an odd thing to do - repeat a plot line from a radio soap opera as an AIBU, especially when there is a long running thread to discuss the Archers which the OP could join."

Due to the irony Wink

I'm going to steel myself to listen with Wine

Am anticipating Knob blowback from yesterday, as foretold by many posters above.

enochroot · 11/03/2016 17:56

Rob seems to be skulking upstairs rather a lot these days. Is he avoiding Helen or Ursula or maybe Henwee?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/03/2016 17:57

Pseudo, I sympathise. I had exactly the same response to my Bloomsbury thread from many of the same humourless people.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/03/2016 17:58

Is he on the phone to his next victim, perhaps? Sad

enochroot · 11/03/2016 18:32

Maybe he's found a porn site where he can indulge a fetish for thin ankles.

Kr1stina · 11/03/2016 18:51

Thanks for the links to the other threads . Some people have no SOH. I agree with this poster

And for the record, I thought it was quite a funny thread smile. People worrying about wasting time - you're on Mumsnet - how productive are you really being?

There are dozens of threads about various slebs, whose lives are mostly as fictional as the archers .

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 11/03/2016 19:03

WTAF??

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 11/03/2016 19:06

Well done!

spiker · 11/03/2016 19:07

Blimey. Go Hellin!

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2016 19:07

Very brave!
