I read a book once (can't remember title or author, sorry) where the character's husband had been killed in an accident and everyone was really sorry for her but in reality she was really relieved but couldn't tell anyone. She was doubting herself as everyone said what a great guy he was, until her grandmother who had dementia said - what a nasty piece of work he was. It would be like that for H if Rob died.

I want him to suffer and THEN die. I just don't want him hanging around like a bad smell for years on end. Like HWMNBN

I made Yorkshire puddings today, which are basically toad-in-the-hole sans sausages. I used vegetable oil. They were excellent. Admittedly they would probably have been excellent-er with lard, but I don't have any in the house and couldn't be bothered to go to the supermarket because I hadn't even bothered to get dressed yet.

One thing that has bothered me over the last week is that we had Pat going on about how she can cook a good joint of pork after all these years. She can do proper home cooking. Helen will have grown up with this. It seems unlikely Helen hasn't got the first idea at all of how to cook things like toad-in-the-hole, even if it's not something she tends to do herself, on account of her eating disorder which Rob has been busy reminding her about. They will surely have had to consume many (experimental) sausage-based meals over the years at Bridge Farm. Followed up by yoghurt or icecream or a cheese board.

I would hate it if those women too scared to called the help line listen to the sl and figure that the only way out is the death of one of the people or a highly dramatic denouement. It really needs to end in a way that shows women they can escape

I agree, BOYOS. In amongst all the things he's done the abuse has to be the one he's 'caught' for. I would like to see the law and the health service play their part to the hilt along with Helen's own recognition of what has happened to her.
I also want his comeuppance for all the other things but primarily he should be branded as an abuser. Literal branding is too much to hope for!

Thanks BYOS, I think that's what I felt too but couldn't articulate.

Educationally it would be best if it showed Helen confiding in a professional and that setting the ball in motion. It's tough trying to balance drama with education

That's why I'm still rooting for Harrison to the rescue.

Yes. Ursilla would be the one Hellin blames because to blame rob would mean looking at her own blinkered headlong run into marriage with an already married man, and accepting her own part of the responsibility for the mess she is in. She needs to admit to herself she made a mistake but being Hellin that's not in her character.

Not accepting she is to blame for being a victim but for making a dreadful choice and defending that to everyone around her to the point where she doesn't dare backtrack and point the finger at rob. Yet again buggered by her own stubbornness.

I'm rooting for women to come to the rescue. I don't mind if men come too, but I feel at least one woman should play a pivotal role in getting Helen to see what is happening to her and to seek redress.

I've said it before but controversially I love Carole and if she helps Hellin I will be so pleased
