She's going to be a gibbering wreck if this keeps up for another 10 weeks - and so will we.

MrsArthurShappey · 10/03/2016 23:43

dsclarke or even "hello you two" Grin

DadDadDad · 10/03/2016 23:46

I wonder if there is a different conclusion to draw from tonight's episode. Helen has had enough and is finally at breaking point - she even says out loud that she feels suffocated.

But who can she express her frustration to? She nearly said something to Ursula over household chores, then pulled back. Even if she has a strained relationship with Pat, she is her mother and maybe it feels safe to visit her and safe to direct anger at her. (Directing anger at Rob or Ursula might feel like too much of a risk). So, in a way, it's a good thing that she did feel able to explode at Pat. She's showing herself that she can stand up for herself (and sending out some sort of distress signal to someone who she knows loves her).

Surely, even Helen will realise that the accusations she threw at Pat are not valid ("why do you keep telling me what to do with the baby?" - yes, why in all those long conversations we've had in the past few weeks? Hmm). Will the penny drop as to where she really needs to be directing such accusations?

recyclingbag · 11/03/2016 07:12

I hope you're right.

Imbroglio · 11/03/2016 07:31

Hopefully pat will notice that Helen isn't saying anything in favour of home birth, only what amounts to 'shuddupshuddupshuddup'.

GypsyFl0ss · 11/03/2016 07:32

We just need to Pat to recognise that outburst for what it was but given her sometimes strained relationship with Helen and her unshaking belief that Knob is good I'm not convinced that will happen any time soon. If that had been Tom she'd got angry with her he would have gently challenged her I think.

recyclingbag · 11/03/2016 07:38

All the more reason why I think Tom will be the catalyst.

He knows something is wrong and is constantly looking for proof.

Surely Pat will tell him.

LillianGish · 11/03/2016 08:22

I still hope Henry will let something slip - remember Knob has told him it's wrong to tell lies so hopefully that will backfire spectacularly.

bakeoffcake · 11/03/2016 08:24

DadDadDad, I agree with you. At the end of last nights episode I thought "Thank goodness! The worm is turning"
Yes, Helen's directing the outburst at the wrong person, but hopefully this is the start of her sticking up for herself.

It will be so frustrating if she goes and tells Knob that Pat has upset her!

recyclingbag · 11/03/2016 08:24

Yes 'Daddy says Mummy is mean and a liar and that she's very wrong'

LillianGish · 11/03/2016 08:32

Granny Ursula says I'm going to a lovely school where you can sleep.

Toomuchtea · 11/03/2016 08:43

I was willing Pat to just SHUT UP, but no, and Helen did what she always does when her parents challenge her. I hope that DDD's theory is right, but I think Pat will have Tony's conversation with her in mind, and will assume that, yet again, she's trodden where she shouldn't. I think there will be a conversation with Tony, who says What did I tell you? And another opportunity will wither.

My one hope is that instead of Helen going straight back to BHC that she meets Tom. Or someone. Anyone.

But sadly I think it will be right back to BHC and Oh Rob....

But apart from that, loved David and Ed etc in The Bull.

WipsGlitter · 11/03/2016 08:50

I agree with some people that if she goes back to the cottage all upset then Pat will be added to the list of verboten people.

Helen was totally directing her anger at the wrong person but i know i have done the same.

Love the "are you worried about your loan line" from Kenton!

WipsGlitter · 11/03/2016 08:57

Or she will fall over the pothole and Rob will go mad at Bridge Farm people and it will all kick off?

Wordsaremything · 11/03/2016 09:00

Helen runs away in distress, catches foot in pot hole...

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/03/2016 09:27

Helen will, eventually, call Kirsty (who's last words to her were that Helen could do so any tme)

Kirsty will speak to Tom.

Just not sure when...

DadDadDad · 11/03/2016 09:30

Yes, I actually agree that the problem with my theory is that Rob will glean that Pat has upset Helen, providing him with another brick in the wall he is building...

enochroot · 11/03/2016 10:08

She's aware now that she's not supposed to go out at all and that she's not allowed to do anything at home except lie down.
If she doesn't break out soon she's done for and she knows it.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/03/2016 10:13

So, will Helen tell Rob and he'll say her family are too upsetting for her - or will Pat tell Rob that Helen was being hysterical and he'll say he's worried about her, perhaps best not get in touch for a while, thanks for telling me Pat, oh Rob you are wonderful for looking after her etc etc?

It's going to be one or the other. betcha.

Marchate · 11/03/2016 10:14

Let's hope she composes herself, goes home, says she only wandered down to see her mum to help her 'fat' ankles

And let's hope Pat talks mentions it to Tony and/or Tom, who advise her NOT to tell Rob (or Urs)

BYOSnowman · 11/03/2016 10:18

The problem now is that Helen may think it is ursula who is the problem not rob

Kr1stina · 11/03/2016 10:30

Good point snowman . She may be more focussed on the minor issues ( MIL tells me how to fold shirts ) and less on the Rob agenda to control every aspect of her life and cut her off from her work, friends and family .

Boomingmarvellous · 11/03/2016 10:38

Oh definitely rob will learn that Hellin was very upset by Pat and tell Hellin she can't see them for her own good (in knobs inimical way). And he will tell pat Hellin doesn't want to see them any time soon 😞

Yet again left hand doesn't know what the right hand will be doing.

And Hellin just shrugged off the bath episode so I think it was a very minor incident which was blown out of all proportion by k and arse.

redshoeblueshoe · 11/03/2016 10:41

Pat will tell Rob Angry Angry Angry

Then I will smash my radio

THE END

Kr1stina · 11/03/2016 10:47

Why is Helen so sentitive to her mother telling her what to do when she seems oblivious to her H and MIL controlling every aspect of her life ? Even her own body !!!

Is this part of the family history that newbies like me don't understand ?
