Is this possible?

We know parents would never believe their son was abusing his wife. So it's ludicrous to think she would join in. (Maybe a family would collude to embezzle, but that's the only scenario I can think of)

So, he's a manipulative creep but mother believes everything he tells her. He emails her, says he's so busy covering Helen's work, she is so unwell, so thin, going mad (his gaslighting)... He doesn't want to bother her family as they are so worried. Would mother please come and keep an eye on her? Oh, and this friend of hers, Kirsty, who was so nasty to Helen after not marrying Tom, won't leave Helen alone. Can you see what you can do about that, mother?

Am I being too imaginative?

Running smock should be in the pantheon along with damp squid.

GruntledOne · 22/02/2016 17:59

Nah, bearing in mind BOOP's sensibilities, we can't have negative stuff about TA being shit in the thread title. Not least because it does rather open the door to questions about why we're devoting so much time to it.

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 18:02

I'm devoting time in the vain hope it will improve. I was very excited about soc leaving!!

Eastpoint · 22/02/2016 18:05

I heard a bit of yesterday's episode & I'm now thinking about giving up the threads as well as the programmes, it all seems like nonsense.

recyclingbag · 22/02/2016 18:15

I agree it's all a bit hammy but I do know someone a bit like Rob and his mother is very similar. She was convinced his wife was 'difficult' and 'melodramatic' and that her friends were forever causing problems.

TeenyfTroon · 22/02/2016 18:22

Love it, DDD, Jessie.

Was chuckling happily, then was hit with Toomuchtea and

I feel like Mr Bennett: "Ursula, you have delighted us long enough. Now shut the piano and feck off."

I love these threads. More than I love TA.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 22/02/2016 18:22

It's not that the character is unrealistic per se, it's that this relationship between son & mother wasn't at all what was signposted at the beginning (or even quite recently)

That's why the current SL is totally shit Grin

recyclingbag · 22/02/2016 18:23

But he used to tell his wife awful things about his mother.

I'm not saying it's BAFTA winning or anything but isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 18:36

I just feel they are letting down the subject now. A realistic and not too over dramatic ea sl would have been great. But now we have over the top evil rob and his evil mother and the likelihood this will end in a massive dramatic episode (one night spread over week no doubt) as soc 's last hurrah

DadDadDad · 22/02/2016 18:41

Ooh, this is like the Oscars now: "the award for best next thread title goes to..."

redshoeblueshoe · 22/02/2016 18:46

maybe to DadDadDad

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 19:04

Gruach · 22/02/2016 19:06

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 22/02/2016 19:07

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 19:08

Shallishanti · 22/02/2016 19:09

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 19:09

They really are taking the educational mandate a little tooooo seriously

At least they have remembered Josh's exams

Shallishanti · 22/02/2016 19:10

the breed! I want to know the breed!

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 19:12

I can tell josh from the other too but Toby and Rex could be played by the same actor for all I can tell

How old is Bert?

And why would anyone sponsor the fairbrothers - except their dad? Is this the 'in' for his appearance

BertrandRussell · 22/02/2016 19:12

Is someone going to get trampled by a cow?

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 19:13

Someone is going to get trampled by Bert.....

Shallishanti · 22/02/2016 19:14

Stickerrocks · 22/02/2016 19:14

Go Bert! Can we put Toby & Rob in a room together and see if they can patronise each other to death?
