Oi, Gruntled, do you think I don't know how to calculate an EDD from a LMP? At the time, we (I think NorthernLurker worked it out) assumed a 28 day cycle, with conception at 14 days assumed to be that moment of animal "passion".

And I am way too infested in the menstrual cycle of a fictional stranger... Blush

ColdTeaAgain · 16/02/2016 23:13

Aren't we all DDD Grin

DadDadDad · 16/02/2016 23:21

Yes - the other week when I was using an online pregnancy calculator (for this thread), I thought if my wife walks in now, how am I going to explain this one... Confused

ColdTeaAgain · 16/02/2016 23:21

Quite confused about tonights episode. Sitting on the fence about how Ursula's character pans out. I suppose it will be very telling if she withholds the message about Kirsty calling or not.
I'm worried she may mention the call to Knob just in passing before its passed on to Helen and then he will of course intervene to make sure Kirsty is fended off again, let's hope not!

recyclingbag · 16/02/2016 23:24

I thought It was good of her to give Helen and Pat time alone. That seemed genuinely empathetic rather than manipulative.

Unless of course Rob had told her to keep visitors away and she is deliberately going against him to wind him up.

enochroot · 16/02/2016 23:26

I'm very confused now and just want it all to be over.

DadDadDad · 16/02/2016 23:30

There seem to be a few de-lurkings today, so I think it's time to try coaxing the lurkers out - quite a few were encouraged to post last time I tried this.

So, please come and play if you are a long-time lurker or a passing newcomer. Yes, I'm looking at YOU. You don't need to be an Archers expert or even current listener. The more the merrier. Tell us what you think. Is Rob's fortress going to start crumbling?

ColdTeaAgain · 16/02/2016 23:43

The whole episode seemed to paint her as just a nice, normal person. Is it a decoy? Or was Knobs previous description of her the decoy? Hmmmm.....

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 17/02/2016 00:05

Going to LA shortly but re. List of characters.

Alice and Chris are not only silent but never mentioned - which is not like Susan. That said I am quite happy not to hear Alice's awful nasal tones.

There is also Tracy and Susan's dad who seem to have dropped of the radar.
And yyy I miss Anthea.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 17/02/2016 00:06

Oh and I don't think Tob is a remotely reliable narrator. Ursula is probably manipulative but that doesn't mean Rob didn't lie about her too.
I reckon his dad is the real influence.

GruntledOne · 17/02/2016 00:53

I felt that that episode moved things forward quite encouragingly, in that Kirsty was pushing Roy into opening his eyes a bit, plus was determined to get back in contact with Helen despite Knob's best efforts; and because Tom was sufficiently pissed off about Knob to check up on him rather than just accepting his lies. What regressed matters was Pat going firmly into Patbot/isn't Knob wonderful mode; plus the mystery of Ursula's character change. Could she be on medication or something?

PrincessFiorimonde · 17/02/2016 01:24

Trying to catch up with the thread, but just want to say, in case no one else has - haha to Abra1d1 and Henry/Victor's drawings!

spiker · 17/02/2016 01:26

I'm with JessieMcJessie about the Ursula ornament moving right at the end - that was a signalling of controllingness I thought. Although not necessarily on the Knob scale.

Although other than thought she seemed lovely am I complete dupe??

Kuriusoranj · 17/02/2016 01:27

I too am a bit confused about Ursula. I'm clinging to the hope that Rob has lied and exaggerated about her as he does about other things.

I've got a lousy memory for detail - why did we think she was likely to be tentacled, after her last impromptu appearance? Was it the overbearing babygro incident? Could that just have been yer average soon-to-be-first-time -granny blundering after all? What have I forgotten? Am I starting to sound like a bad intro to a bad documentary with all these questions?

spiker · 17/02/2016 01:28

that last sentance seemed to be missing some words. bed i think. I get so silly and muddled when I let myself get overtired.

susimoo · 17/02/2016 03:32

Lurker!!

Ursula said that Knob is acting exactly the same way as his father did when she was pregnant with Miles and Knob.

Sooooooo

Maybe Ursula knows what it's like to be Helen and is here to put Knob in his place and providing Helen with much needed support?
Hence the inviting Kirsty round. The first stages of an intervention perhaps?

I can but hope. Grin

Imbroglio · 17/02/2016 05:19

I'm wondering if Pat is just so relieved that Helen appears to be accepting help from someone, when she has previously been very hard to help in the past.

Imbroglio · 17/02/2016 05:25

I can't see two controlling people like ursula and rob lasting the whole week in one small cottage. I think they are both on 'best behaviour' which will last two days.

CuttedUpPear · 17/02/2016 06:47

I hope we've all clocked the vaguely alluded-to problems in Shula and Alasdair's marriage. So when it all goes tits up, whenever that can be shoe horned into the script, we are not surprised.

My reckoning is that the actor who plays Alasdair has already flounced (as did Tiger) and the SWs are writing him in out in stages.

LillianGish · 17/02/2016 06:47

ddd Grin you are impressively over-infested in Helen's menstrual cycle. Are you in fact Knob? Grin

DadDadDad · 17/02/2016 07:05

Am I Rob?! That's it, Lillian, I'm flouncing out of here! Angry

LillianGish · 17/02/2016 07:14

On second thoughts, with your excellent grasp of statistics, spread-shits etc you would not have made such a botch of the Berrow paperwork - you're off the hook Wink

DadDadDad · 17/02/2016 07:25

Grin you're too kind. Blush

By the way, cutted, I thought the accepted Archers phrase was "nipples aloft" instead of "tits up" (well, as used by a Fairbrother anyway)

Snarklepoo · 17/02/2016 07:37

Another delurking here.

I'm with Susimoo. Hoping Ursula will clock Knob and make the SL stop. Get the impression Helen knows fine well she is being abused. Be interesting to see if they are still together by time baby comes.

Also, pleeeease can Justin just drop the wife in London and sweep Lillian back to the Dower House so I can vicariously have a teenage fling for three months before settling into blissful comedy retirement and making me want to listen again?

Thought it might have been Adam and Charlie, but I'd rather have L and J over the Roy and Kirsty cringeworthiness that's coming.

ArgyMargy · 17/02/2016 08:10

If we're talking about lazy SW, is it lazy casting to have Ursula with a speech impediment/loose false teeth so that we can distinguish her from the other older women? I too think moving the ornament was highly significant (controlling behaviour).
