Ursula just won't pass the message on to Helen, perhaps?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 16/02/2016 19:58

Nobbling of knob Grin

I wonder if Rob has been gaslighting KD about the number of rooms in the cottage. "Look, don't you remember you silly billy you must have made a mistake with the script. There are 2 rooms at BHC"
" but Rob I'm sure you said you there was a spare room"
"no Keri, you imagined it. You know how tired you get writing a whole weeks script. Maybe you need to take it easy. Retire. Let me write the scripts. You are getting on a bit. "
"So sorry Rob. I ....I just don't understand where that other room came from"

Toomuchtea · 16/02/2016 20:00

Grin and there you have it, SmallLegs.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 20:01

was Pat surprised that Ursula knows about Henry's origins? There seemed to be a bit of a pause after she mentioned it? Helen won't have told her so Rob must have filled her in.

R4 · 16/02/2016 20:12

I have to agree with the bollocks / backtracking / bobbing cork comments.

spiker · 16/02/2016 20:19

have listened now - I think Ursula is a stirry stirry stirrer. she is going to get kirsty in, then sit back and watch the fireworks.

Gruach · 16/02/2016 20:20

Gasp0 - "Lost" and "seasick" were the words that came to my mind. Totally confused.

It did actually seem as if the SW was lurching about just filling minutes with the available cast at Blossom Hill.

And where's Elizabeth? And Nic? And Alan? And Chris and Alice? And I'm not sure I've heard Neil since Christmas ...

spiker · 16/02/2016 20:23

Have chris and alice gone silent? do they actually still live in Ambridge or are they elsewhere?

Gruach · 16/02/2016 20:24

And we never got to hear Will's face when the rest of his family moved to Grange Farm ...

Dis-BOOP.

spiker · 16/02/2016 20:26

maybe they are all in panto somewhere. although it is the middle of Febuary.

enochroot · 16/02/2016 20:32

Who is the actress playing Ursula? Her voice sounds familiar but I'm sure it's not the same one who played Ursula before on the short visit.

A change of actress for a change of tack? Or is moving the ornament to where she wanted it an indication of something more sinister?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2016 20:36

Characters we haven't heard speaking in an age:
Alan
Amy
Usha for more than one scene in six months
Bert ditto
Josh ditto (but this I can live with)
Johnnie ditto (this I mind)
Tony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get him back from his panto pronto!
Jazzer (OK, he's a minor character but he's good value)
Maurice (ditto - they have squandered Maurice - he should have become a regular)
Anthea (she should never have been got rid of, see comments on Maurice above)
Alice and Chris - I'd rather hear them any time than Pip and Matthew
Carol - but given that in her Eleanor Bron incarnation she only arrived back in Ambridge a year or so ago, I'm not bothered about this
Jamie
Kathy
Will
Nic
Elizabeth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frilly*
Lewis (gone, sadly, I fear, but they've not officially killed him off, have they?)
Mike, Vicky, Hayley - OK, they've moved to Brum but they were all good value
Brenda - ditto, substituting London for Brum
Fallon more than once in a couple of months
Harrison - I'm a bit meh about Harrison but at least I know who he is
Alistair - where is he? When did we last hear him speak?

*Freddie and Lily

mummytime · 16/02/2016 20:37

We heard Josh only about a week ago.

Hi to anyone going tomorrow.

BYOSnowman · 16/02/2016 20:38

If Helen hadn't met her before I would have thought Rob had hired someone

Now why has Ursula heard of Kirsty?

Yes I think the rearranging to her taste is an indication of her controlling behaviour

The sl is taking over and I'm not sure the sw know what to do with it. it feels like a boat that's lost it's mooring and occasionally bashes into a big rock

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2016 20:40

Yes, we heard him for the first time in an age. Now all will go quiet again for so long that nobody will recognise him again when he next appears. Now, by contrast, I heard his mother on Ed Reardon before TA and she was unmistakeable, but that is because she is so successful that her voice has achieved instant recognition. This is rare in the acting profession.

Lancelottie · 16/02/2016 20:41

Was that Helen or Pat who said Ursula 'seemed a different person' from last night? Tee hee.

spiker · 16/02/2016 20:42

Was Lewis a relative of Nigel's? If he's who I think he is then YY to GaspOde - he was v good value.

Actually I think I entirely agree with your list GaspOde.

Smugula is pretty quiet these days.

Lancelottie · 16/02/2016 20:47
  • last time, not last night. Sigh.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2016 20:49

Lewis married Julia, Nigel's mother. She was a fantastic character. Tragically, Mary Wimbush, the actress who played her, died during rehearsals, with Alison Dowling, the actress who plays Elizabeth, at her side, 11 years ago now. Sad

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 20:55

Rob must have told Ursula about Kirsty (like Henry's conception)

Doesn't mean Ursula will keep her at arms length just because Rob wants to though...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2016 21:20

Nancy Banks-Smith this month

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 21:35

oh good - thanks, Gasp0de Smile

I was looking for her this morning (she's late!) & only found her tribute to el Tel

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 21:38

It was due on 3rd Feb but the Wogan thing appeared on 1st Feb - can she only manage 1 a fortnight now? I do worry about her. She'll be 87 this year...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Banks-Smith

sunnydayinmay · 16/02/2016 21:39

Just caught up with today. Totally confused now. What are the SWs up to?

Wordsaremything · 16/02/2016 21:47

De lurking and Swimming against tide here, but having been involved, millennia ago, with a rob looky likely, his mother is scarily familiar. That rasping, yet fluent voice. So competent and kind, you so very much want to like her- but, wait....

I do think it's very well done and superbly acted- tho I know it isn't what the archers is all about.
