Never mind the yoghurt - who is making the Sterling Gold?!

Oh, sorry, I didn't bother to officially de-lurk. I've been on MN for years but am recent to the Archers and to these threads. I defer to everyone's superior Archers knowledge! I grew up listening to it in the background (my Mum was and still is a fan) and listening to occasional episodes if I happened to turn the radio on at the right time, but it's only been the last year or so that I actively tune in. And now I'm slightly obsessed.

Gruach · 16/02/2016 18:36

Only "slightly" obsessed Margie?

Grin

In the olden days we used to throw a party for every de-lurker - but the world moves so fast now ...

Suffolksim I find worrying about whether the SWs have a plan almost more stressful than listening to Rob! But the individual Hel/Rob scenes are so beautifully scripted (even if no one knows where they're going) that it makes listening to Pip and Matthew painful. Not a scrap of chemistry or subtext or tension of any kind there.

Greengager · 16/02/2016 19:03

Ebearhug I LOVE the idea that rob is giving instructions to the SWs hope it gets more and more outlandish until it transpires that Rob is using the SW to bend the very space time continuum of Ambridge to his will and it all goes meta and bit avante guard and we are Kraft questioning the extent to which rob has be able to manipulate the emotions of the listening public....

It'd be a new direction for the Archers....

Greengager · 16/02/2016 19:04

Kraft? Left.

BYOSnowman · 16/02/2016 19:08

Oh god. It's going to be Roy and Kirsty as the new couple isn't it

JessTitchener · 16/02/2016 19:12

Yes Helen, all the problems stemmed from Jess....

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 19:12

Helen has forgotten what Rob told her HIMSELF about his mother????

Stickerrocks · 16/02/2016 19:13

I missed the first couple of minutes this evening with Tom talking to Pat. Pat is still wearing her rose coloured glasses this evening then, but I'm sure Pat & Helen would have analysed the change in Ursula's character a bit more.

BYOSnowman · 16/02/2016 19:13

This is all highly plausible now. Not.

Abraid2 · 16/02/2016 19:13

I hope Henry isn't a Victor with his drawings, for those who watched Les Revenants.

GypsyFl0ss · 16/02/2016 19:15

Ok. It's all going a bit bollocks now.

Stickerrocks · 16/02/2016 19:15

It's always slightly disappointing when the CA doesn't comment.

Gruach · 16/02/2016 19:17

Do I sense a certain amount of scriptorial backtracking?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 16/02/2016 19:18

So: will Ursula pass on the message? And why did she say h was having a nap when she wasn't?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 16/02/2016 19:19

Patbot in full flow tonight - Stepford seems to have come to Ambridge. Aaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!

Actual fist bump to Kirsty tonight though.

GypsyFl0ss · 16/02/2016 19:25

I thought Helen was going for a nap and then would read her book in peace whilst Ursula took Henwee out for a walk.

GypsyFl0ss · 16/02/2016 19:26

I really hope they don't put Kirsty and Roy in a relationship. It's beyond dull.

Toomuchtea · 16/02/2016 19:27

Seek - yes, I wondered why at first Ursula fobbed Kirsty off, then once she knew who it was, backtracked.

GruntledOne · 16/02/2016 19:28

BOOP for Tom deciding to contact the chicken suppliers direct - let's hope he ignores Pat saying he has to clear it with Knob first.

spiker · 16/02/2016 19:29

I missed it - working late.

Was there a chicken revelation?

Greengager you had me googling 'we are kraft' I thought it must be some cult film reference which I was too old to recognise...

GruntledOne · 16/02/2016 19:31

I wonder if Ursula's strange character change has something to do with instructions from Knob to try to get Helen's confidence and spy on her, especially when she's with Kirsty? Maybe so as to persuade her to sign over her share of any Bridge Farm property/inheritance that's going?

FinestGrundyTurkey · 16/02/2016 19:33

If Tom does speak to Rob first, Rob will come out with some spurious reason why it's not necessary which will make Tom even keener to speak to them, I hope.

I mean Tom obv has a historic working relationship with them - Rob neither knows them nor cares about their chickens. Tom's already fairly pissed off with Rob, I can't see him being fobbed off over this

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 16/02/2016 19:34

The ultimate plan was for her to have a read of her book, but at that point hadn't she just left the room to tell Henry to get his coat and boots on?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2016 19:34

I'm utterly confused now. I feel like a cork bobbing along in the sea. Confused

spiker · 16/02/2016 19:36

Nooooo to Roy&Kirsty. She deserves better.

Yesssss to Roy providing a handy bridge between Kirsty and Tom, thus leading to the nobbling of Knob.
