What would happen if Pat just breezily said - in response to Knob's ludicrous fending-off tactics, 'oh dear, poor Helen, but I'll just nip over there anyway to say hello, I'm sure she wouldn't mind'? And then go out to the car and drive over there.

He couldn't exactly chase after her and bar the way, or react explosively - that would show his true nature. But she doesn't do that - she just gives in, instantly. I simply don't buy the way everyone around H is submissively kowtowing to Knob....It's as if he hypnotises every single person he encounters (except Kirsty, who's not remotely susceptible, thank god).

ppeatfruit · 22/01/2016 14:19

Yes Psuedo Hell may well be avoiding Pat because if she looks as bad as Kirsty said (she pulled no punches at GG did she? I'd think it over before saying that to a friend if it were me).

Pat would go apeshit!

squeaver · 22/01/2016 15:45

Couldn't believe Fallon's "oh he's just tired" line. Come on Fallon! You KNOW he's a knob!!

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 16:04

But if she is avoiding pat - wouldn't pat notice?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/01/2016 16:42

There are some plausible reasons

  1. Helen went nc with P&T for a bit for interfering
  2. Tom does actually have form for introducing non organic things and not asking. So as much as Rob is a dick, Tom has form for high handedness (in his previous voice) and he nearly lost the farms organic status before.

That said Pat used to be really wise to Knobs snakelike charm. Most people would habe brustled a bit about him patronising their son in front of them.

Then again many parents mine turn a blind eye. Especially if previous rs has bn at all difficult.

spiker · 22/01/2016 16:50

oooh look here for a Friday wallow...

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/jan/22/the-10-best-archers-storylines-rob-helen

Grace Archer was sent to a firey death because the actor had asked for equal pay!!! Shock

GruntledOne · 22/01/2016 17:26

It would be quite difficult for Helen to avoid Pat, though, wouldn't it? It appears that she is doing at least a little work in the shop, and presumably surfaces for the school run. Plus she can't travel anywhere much without driving and Pat would only start raising the alarm if she was obviously at home but not answering the door.

Minimammoth · 22/01/2016 17:26

How much more tired are they going to be with a new baby? He will soon be doing Helens job full time and taking all the wage I bet.

enochroot · 22/01/2016 18:06

I suppose that salary day hasn't come round yet and she doesn't know her pay is hijacked.

WipsGlitter · 22/01/2016 18:39

How much is that wage likely to be though? Part owner of a newly opened farm shop. Just waiting for the books not to balance and Rob to blame Helen.

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 18:44

Not as much as rob thinks I would wager and he will be crawling up to pay for more and she will say yes because she's had a brain transplant

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/01/2016 19:08

Oooh Justin mentioned the sinkhole.
Miranda has a favourite designer
And Tex and Toby get regular money from daddy dearest.

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 19:08

So daddy is bailing them out

God they're boring

Struggling to picture Fred Elliott on a horse

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 19:10

Why do we have to be subjected to so much sliminess in a regular basis - and why do all the women fall for it

Gruach · 22/01/2016 19:11

Takeover?

Or merger?

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 19:13

I foresee a chainsaw accident in the future

Travelledtheworld · 22/01/2016 19:21

OK I am sick of this farming "advice" don't give a toss about how to fence free range chickens. And where is DFW to explain all this grass fed dairying to us ?

And is Justin Elliott hitting on Fag Ash. Isn't she a smoke wrinkled, gin sodden old bag by now? Barff.

Gruach · 22/01/2016 19:21

Interesting email pinged onto my phone while that was on.

Waiting list place. Just become available.

At a certain conference. In February.

Am now slightly double-booked.

Grin

Missed all of the brethren's second chat though.

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 19:27

You missed nothing of interest

enochroot · 22/01/2016 19:32

I don't see the point of Fairbrethren, don't care what went on in Brighton and would like to see the back of them now.

BYOSnowman · 22/01/2016 19:33

I think Matthew will start shagging the farmers daughter in Penrith, breaking pips heart in the process - she will turn to Toby and then eventually Rex and it will all be oh so dull

Gruach · 22/01/2016 19:40

Travelled ...?

Botox notwithstanding, I'm confident a few wrinkles would not detract from Lillian's zest for life. And given that she's spent her entire life in the fresh air (except when lying in a salon in Borchester or Knightsbridge) she probably looks rather nice.

Even if she didn't it's good to hear her clambering free of the detritus of a broken heart.

Justin's going to give her that horse ...

EBearhug · 22/01/2016 19:43

I also got a waitlist ticket - I am not double booked. :-)

R4 · 22/01/2016 19:48

Is it fully booked?

Gruach · 22/01/2016 19:51

It was.

You may still be able to join the waiting list.

Or perhaps everyone has thought better of it and there are loads of tickets suddenly looking for good homes.
