Tbh I imagine both Ian and Adam as looking like the actors. A a bit matinee idol and I bald and a bit chubby, though amiable.

I wondered if this scriptwriters were having a joke when Ruth and David were saying it was good to hear Josh talk like that - surely it was just good to hear him talk full stop. Are they going to ensure Pip and Josh favour entirely different styles of farming to set up plenty of conflict for the future?

Well pip is clearly a genius for noticing that straightening the path would make the fields better or whatever it was - I can't be the only one who wondered why no one else had noticed in the last 65 years

A more realistic storyline for Lils would be a lung cancer diagnosis. We might even get Tiger back from exile to marry her and care for her in her dying days.

We're thinking along the same lines Gypsy. Lillian appeared to have shaken off the unshakeable lurgy she had at the beginning of the year (my immediate thought then was lung cancer and Matt-to-the-rescue after a terse phone call from Brian) - but she gave Lynda a reason for wanting to stay at Home Farm that we didn't hear. Wonder if that might be illness or waiting for test results ...

Matthew's photo and etceteras are featured in the BBC Archers blog. (Just below an item on his new girlfriend.) Though they don't seem to have invented any interesting background for him yet. He looks like Pip!

Pip has a really annoying face in that blog photo. And Matthews pose is very 'boy model'

I think he's a 'girl in every port' type and will turn out to be (another) wrong'un and we are doomed to a pip/Rex marriage

Pip seems to make all her decisions based on whether or not she finds someone attractive (fairbro land/Matthew job etc)

I'd quite like to see how she would interact working with a similarly aged woman

I absolutely loved Ian telling Adam he could watch Game of Thrones but to save The Affair to watch together. Sounds like there will be some comeback for Adam over his philandering. (I love the word philandering.)

Interestingly they always call him Matthew (probably because they know calling him Matt would be too much of a painful reminder for listeners)

Funny how a would be unfaithful, dishonest, jailbird is so popular with the listeners of TA.

It's a bit like Brian though - and most of them - you like them because you get to know the character and they are well rounded

That's true, but at least Brian's not been to prison. There have been other cardboard characters before SOC too, what about Matt's (the old Matt ) brother? It takes time to build a rounded character I suppose.

I've been pumping an obstetrician for info.
What nourishment Helen is getting is going to the baby. "Babies are parasites." The baby is a normal size because of this and will continue to thrive physically. However, it is probably very deficient in minerals and vitamins so its actual condition is likely to be pretty poor but this is undetectable before birth.
Helen OTOH is likely to be deteriorating fast but this will probably not be showing up in her blood and urine tests. Her previous history should be causing red lights to flash though and she would be checked more often than she is by people more senior than the local MW.

enoch there's an episode of House where he diagnoses a pregnant woman (who doesn't know she's pregnant) as having a parasite.
