And on the Rob motivation topic. This is assuming that abusive men are logical. In my experience (both personal and anecdotal based on the EA thread) it is about winning each individual battle not a well thought out strategy for war. Half of them don't even know they are abusive. The main mistake I made was thinking my ex was in anyway consistent or logical. So if Rob is totally spontaneous and reactive that would be IME very realistic but for a sl pov unlikely. So no doubt there will be some overarching plot. But he just wants to make Helen feel inferior and rubbish regardless of the consequences is to me totally believable.

Mmm ... I see what you mean about the difference between a SL and RL. To me there is for Rob one overarching motivation - which is not necessarily conscious but drives everything he does. He wants to look in the mirror and see a King.

I don't think he specifically wants to make Helen miserable. That would need him to recognise her as a thinking, feeling human being. And he doesn't. To him she's just a supremely important part of the picture he's painting of himself. He's pleased when she complies with what he's imagining in his head. He's furious when the little chess piece is inexplicably to be found on the wrong part of the board.

redshoe i agree. In my head one of the v few actirs who looks like he sounds. Unlike e.g. Helen.

Justin sounds slim, rugged, corduroy jacket, greying, still v handsome, steely covering up.the fact that underneath it all he isn't all that.

And Lillian is cross between Audrey Roberts and Joanna Lumley.

I keep seeing the archers thread and wondering about tuning in again. I used to listen avidly but haven't for about 10 years. Would I find it too hard to pick up the pieces and get back into it? Would I know anyone?!

I see Justin as upright, kept himself in shape, silver hair. Not jowelly or portly. I think Lillian will definitely flutter eyelids.

You'd have no trouble, Diamondsmiles. Most of the Archer clan are still there and still talking about the same stuff, viz, cows, pigs and sheep. The Grundys are all still around too and nothing much has changed there either - they are still comedy yokels with the occasional tragic storyline thrown in. Give it a go!

Justin has a wife who may or may not be a trophy wife - can't remember what, if anything, we know about her. Is she called Mandy?

Oddly, Justin to me sounds like young Captain Bellamy from Upstairs Downstairs.

All we know about his wife is she is not to be let down by the choice of sccomodation.

Why the shite would Lillian need to sell properties? I'm not a financial advisor, nor the CEO of an odd agri business, but, yo, Lillian, you're an old bird, you need an income that will last throughout your old age. Not big lump sums which you would spend on what exactly? Rental income is just the thing.

What was Matt's wife called? Her name escapes me and I can't find it on the website.

Lil was a good deal younger when she saw off Matt's wife (there was something about stuff being dumped in a garden if I recall correctly? However I think possibly Matt had already driven his Missus to the brink of divorce before Lil got involved).
My sense is that Mrs Justin is not young and beautiful and has probably supported Justin through his rise to the top. Much as I love Lil and want her to be happy with a nice chap I think they'd do the character no favours by having her steal someone else's husband for the third time.
