Ewww horrible

It's a race now to see if Rob can be disposed of before he disposes of Helen!
I think he's mad. He's so intent on his own machinations and so confident of his own superiority that he imagines his baby will win through no matter what. Helen is just a means to an end.

I felt that Ian refused to go to the party hoping that Adam would stay away too. It was a test of loyalty and Adam failed it.

BYOSnowman · 16/01/2016 09:35

But Ian's excuse was that he was at work so it would be odd for Adam to say 'OK, I will sit at home on my own' and possibly make Adam look more suspicious and as Adam doesn't know that Ian knows, then he wouldn't want to make himself look suspicious!

Do you think Kate will burst in and then tell them off!!

BYOSnowman · 16/01/2016 09:36

One reason I've stopped listening to the archers 'live' is the bad language used that I don't want the kids exposed to. Especially when said in the way rob says it!!

enochroot · 16/01/2016 09:40

Ian doesn't know that Adam doesn't know that he knows.
Ian thinks it's all over the village that Adam's been unfaithful for the past year.

Yes, it's a bit unreasonable for him to expect Adam to sit it out at home but reasonable if he believes Adam's affair is common knowledge.

ApplesinmyPocket · 16/01/2016 09:43

The acting was very good in last night's. Rob (especially) and Helen very convincing, also Charlie and Adam. I thought the emotion in Charlie's voice quite moving, 'How can you bear to let me go!' - not arrogant at all, something else.

I have such a soft spot for Charlie, who is both brave and vulnerable.

HumphreyCobblers · 16/01/2016 09:48

I have just listened, I am glad I had some warning of Adam's actions from this thread. I agree Apples, the acting is brilliant.

BertrandRussell · 16/01/2016 09:54

"
"I have such a soft spot for Charlie, who is both brave and vulnerable."

Hmm And making a play for a man in a committed relationship.

Scarydinosaurs · 16/01/2016 10:10

Helen would be much more closely monitored given her MH history. I had to have the GTT as my history of ED meant that I was at higher risk of having it. Something to do with sustained restricting periods impacting upon the way the body produces insulin?

She will also be showing ketones in her urine. Have they even mentioned midwife appointments?

With a history of ED you are categorised as high risk. She has been open about her history. They need to actually research these sorts of storylines before they begin writing them.

BYOSnowman · 16/01/2016 10:22

The last people to hear village gossip are the people having the Affair and the cheated on spouses. So would be unreasonable to think Adam knew there was gossip without I'm shitting himself that Ian knows

Imbroglio · 16/01/2016 10:24

Charlie has never had a real relationship with a man and is unable to be open about his sexuality (who in Ambridge knows he's gay except Adam, Helen, Rob and Ian?).

Adam is everything he craves - someone who is comfortable with his sexuality, older, wise (in farming matters), shared interests. Charlie can't imagine he'll ever meet another Adam.

AdventuresOfADentist · 16/01/2016 10:24

It would also be painful for Ian to see Adam and Charlie together. Although until yesterday they'd only had one kiss, there's a fair amount of chemistry between them, which to Ian would probably confirm what Rob said about an affair.

Dumdedumdedum · 16/01/2016 10:34

Am I the only one who thinks Charlie's character has softened since he arrived in Ambridge? I remember really disliking his high-handed attitude at first. It is only through his feelings for Adam that I have started to perhaps like him better than Rob.

3littlefrogs · 16/01/2016 10:39

There hasn't been even a mention of a midwife appointment.
I agree - Helen would be closely monitored because of her history.

The SW clearly haven't done their research.

ppeatfruit · 16/01/2016 10:41

OMG I just listened to last nights' and choked on my glass of water when The CA said "that was better than Jennifers' crostinis" Grin Grin She's brilliant. I'm not sure slurping gay love is any better than slurping straight love though Shock Adam should cool it he wasn't as drunk as Charlie.

ppeatfruit · 16/01/2016 10:42

I meant love on the radio of course Grin

enochroot · 16/01/2016 11:02

Rob has put an idea into Ian's head and so he's convinced there's been an affair going on all along and that everyone else knows. I don't think he's talked to Adam about it and hasn't received any reassurance so it's eating away at him.

"I've just found out my long term partner has been having an affair for a year. Everyone knew about this but I only learned of it the day before our wedding three weeks ago.
The OM is leaving the village. AIBU to expect my DH to spare my feelings and not go to the farewell party? I've made the excuse that I'm working that evening."

Stickerrocks · 16/01/2016 11:23

Back to Knob again. I'm sure this storyline won't end as quickly as we all hope. Helen is going to challenge him on something at some point. giving him the opportunity to come out with the classic line about how he's been a little bit controlling, but he's willing to change for the sake of Helen and the Knoblet. Things will loosen up for a little while, then he'll go back to his old ways, especially when the Knoblet arrives. There's scope for this to carry on for a good while yet. Maybe it will come to a climax in the 70th anniversary programme - that would seem a more realistic timescale unfortunately.

Gruach · 16/01/2016 11:31

I wouldn't mind, much, if the Rob/Hel story carried on without any big melodramatic climax within weeks - but only if they moved it into the background a little and allowed other characters to regain their real selves. But these things seem mutually exclusive - at least to the SWs.

TA would become unlistenable to, even for me, if things continued at this pitch and level of intensity - with half the women in the village operating via a little key in their backs and a series of computer codes.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 16/01/2016 11:43

I hope hellon doesn't now avoid Kirsty - but I bet she does.

There were several strands of rob-scepticism last night though weren't there? I wonder whether this marks some progression in the story.

Gruach · 16/01/2016 11:51

Helen is good at ducking and diving - and lying. I'm sure the same skills she employed to see Rob secretly (and to take Henry for his first day at school by herself) will now be used to show her pale, drawn face to Kirsty again. Because she isn't sure and she'll want to see which of them is most convincing.

BYOSnowman · 16/01/2016 11:57

If they keep on like this they will have to rename it 'the titcheners'

BitOutOfPractice · 16/01/2016 12:23

I think Kirsty will try to intervene and Helen will beg her to butt out because it's making it worse for her at home

SmallGreenBouncyBall · 16/01/2016 12:29

I think the pitchforks are out regarding knob, with his interview and everything.
adam/ian/charlie so sad and unresolvable all around.

Stickerrocks · 16/01/2016 12:39

Only she can't actually say it will make things worse for her at home, because that would be admitting that there's an issue.

BYO once an Archer, always an Archer.
