Xmas Shock

Morning. Spoilt.

EBearhug · 11/12/2015 08:40

in the case of Kate it is more of a surprise that she has not beenbacksince two of her children are there.

Yes - you'd think you'd occasionally have comments about having facetimed Nolly & Sipo, or about how Lukas's family are refusing to let her have any contact. But new listeners would be forgiven for not realising they even exist.

LillianGish · 11/12/2015 08:41

Sorry Gruach - was that aimed at me Blush I am happy to see the Grundies back at Grange Farm, but I just don't want their story to become as unlikely and unbelievable as what has happened at Brookfield (where SOC has quite literally lost the plot).

R4 · 11/12/2015 08:53

Funny how David was cross with Pip for not paying enough attention to the calves, because she spent a few hours Fairbrother-bothering. But he's not cross with Ruth for taking an no-notice jolly for a fortnight on the other side of the world.
Nothing makes any sense.

Gruach · 11/12/2015 08:55

Should have added a Xmas Grin or two!

Just the thought of Rob getting even more out of the village.

BYOSnowman · 11/12/2015 09:08

Why does Matthew not get any blame? He's paid to be there and look after the cows isn't he? Shouldn't he have noticed?

trevortrevorslatterfry · 11/12/2015 09:13

Wow you are all made of tougher stuff than me! Prickly eyes and lumps in throat - I was full-on blubbing in the car just now listening to the podcast. Even though we knew it was coming. I love Joe! BOOP BOOOOOOP! StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar

R4 · 11/12/2015 09:15

I would have thought that BYOS because just the other day Dave was asking the temp for consultancy advice. But Dave said something about calving being a different department to milking, so not Matthew's responsibility apparently.Hmm

enochroot · 11/12/2015 09:26

Matthew did spot it and alerted David even though it's not his brief to watch the calves. David should marry him.

R4 · 11/12/2015 09:35

In my fanfic I had already married Dave off to Charlie. A green-card marriage where Dave didn't mind if Charlie strayed a bit as long as the cows were happy and dinner was on the table.

BYOSnowman · 11/12/2015 09:36

Oh I see - I didn't realise they had such niche specialities

Did anything Come of Rex telling pip he liked her?

selsigfach · 11/12/2015 09:54

Not yet, BYOS. Neither have been on the air since that exchange.

BitOutOfPractice · 11/12/2015 09:56

Ah, a BOOP fest. It's been much more like old times this week I think

I'm worried joe is going to cark it at Christmas though Sad

BYOSnowman · 11/12/2015 10:04

Ok - I guess nothing an actually happen until it is mentioned on air - like Kirsty only finding out about Roy and Elizabeth 'on air'

LillianGish · 11/12/2015 10:12

Joe is not going to cark it at Chrtistmas (mysticBore please come on here and tell me I'm right.) Apart from anything else I can't think of anything to rhyme with Grange Farm which is a euphemism for dying Grin

BYOSnowman · 11/12/2015 10:18

Maybe he will die on the way to grange farm in the car, singing songs with Eddie

I hope they don't wait until the actor dies. I think it would be good to give joe a good sl and then an end

LillianGish · 11/12/2015 10:24

Is anyone else concerned that David has bought Ruth an anniversary present that will be almost impossible to post to New Zealand if she extends her stay Grin (speaking as someone who lives abroad and always has to consider whether something can be posted when choosing a gift - v much to the forefront of my mind at the moment).

enochroot · 11/12/2015 10:33

Was there mention of him buying her a sculpture?

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/12/2015 10:39

Lillian I have put on my headscarf and dangly earrings just for you and will now consult my crystal ball...

Mystic Bore predicts:

Joe WILL NOT die at Christmas Xmas Smile

but

Something momentous WILL happen on New Year's Eve Xmas Shock

And now the glass grows dark again...

I know, it's a gift

BYOSnowman · 11/12/2015 10:41

Lowfield says

David has bought Ruth a bronze ornament of a calf and its mother for Ruth's anniversary present

Is that an insensitive present for a woman who has just lost her mum?

R4 · 11/12/2015 10:43

Ed'n'Em will have a Grange Farm baby. Joe will die. One out, one in.
'Tis nature's way. Jill's bees told me.

but I still want Joe to get to a 100

trevortrevorslatterfry · 11/12/2015 11:12

R4 YY to Joe at 100! Imagine Joe and the other Grundies bursting with pride at the telegram from Her Maj. I would love to hear that Smile

80sWaistcoat · 11/12/2015 11:38

Just listened to it sneakily at work while tidying up desk. Having to mask a little tear. That was lovely.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 11/12/2015 11:55

My listening was up a stepladder painting a wall, 80swaistcoat - I had to stop for a few minutes, I couldn't see to cut in properly (lump in throat was a euphemism Grin)

Scarydinosaurs · 11/12/2015 12:02

R4 I think it does make sense, as David has never been keen on Toby Trouble or Reliable Rex taking up Pip's time, and sees them taking advantage of her.

David feels guilty about his change of heart about the move, and is letting Ruth do her own thing in the hope it will make things even.

What do we think of Matthew? He seems quite nice?

I don't want Charlie to go, but equally, I dont like this drawn out love triangle. I like Charlie as a character, and his departure signifies more than just the end of a storyline, but also the dominance of Rob convincing Justin that Charlie was at fault at Berrow Farm.
