Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

OP posts:

When Jill first moved in it was because she was scared by a burglary. Was supposed to be temporary, but she was so useful around the kitchen so much liked feeling needed, that they made it permanent.

Gruach · 14/09/2015 12:24

At the time wasn't Pip either in Yorkshire or just back and moving into a flat share with university friends in Borchester /Felpersham? So they thought her room had been pretty much permanently vacated?

Then the SWs changed their minds decided the flatshare had fallen through and brought her home.

It does all seem ridiculously complicated. Hmm

And yes, with first Jill then Bert and Heather being squeezed into the shoe it would surely have been sensible for D&R to remember the virtual townfull of empty properties they have lying around before now.

R4 · 14/09/2015 12:44

Just listened to Archermind. I could answer most of those questions. Jo Toye ducked the one about two bands which had some plot significance but didn't have a cast member as a band member. Pet Shop Boys would qualify - can anyone think of another one?

Fairly tenuous, but considering Dylan's review of the audience last week, I offer The Wurzels.Grin

R4 · 14/09/2015 12:49

What about Kate at Glasto, was there something there?

dairyfarmerswife · 14/09/2015 14:54

no serious disruption to sleeping arrangements mentioned such as Pip moving into the dining room

Pip is in the dining room though, isn't she? Didn't Ruth say that the other night during their girl's night in? And when Pip mentioned the ridiculous idea of Bert decorating, she said there hadn't been time when Jill moved in, which did all happen suddenly after the scary burglary.

I didn't miss the hacking, was lurking and busy.

InimitableJeeves · 14/09/2015 15:00

When Pip said that Ruth didn't want Jill to move out, the only reason given was that she was worried she might have to go back to cooking and housekeeping. So no concern that she was sending an 85 year old away from the home where Ruth knew she wanted to see out the rest of her life.

And hadn't she realised that Jill might keel over anyway leaving a bit of a vacancy on the cooking and housekeeping front?

R4 · 14/09/2015 15:45

Well, tbf, she doesn't seem to have realised either that her own mum might keel over - why would you relocate the whole family hundreds of miles away for someone who might SOTMC at any minute?

dairyfarmerswife · 14/09/2015 16:05

Yes Jeeves they all seemed selfish reasons that Ruth didn't want Jill to move out, nothing about how Jill was feeling

Toomuchtea · 14/09/2015 17:21

I find the whole thing absolutely baffling. The only reason I can think of for Jill to move to LL is so that Lizzie has a storyline now that the SW are (I live in hope) moving away from Kenton being so utterly bloody annoying.

LillianGish · 14/09/2015 17:58

With Roy and Hayley gone from LL and Frilly having become silent characters, moving Jill there would seem to be a way of bringing Lizzie into the storyline without her having to have endless events. As soon as I start to think of plot devices in this way I immediately lose interest in them.

Gruach · 14/09/2015 19:11

Topical insert!

Perhaps Kenton will give all David's money to charity?

Northernlurker · 14/09/2015 19:13

Loved that topical insert. Really nice showing how much the recent news has affected people of all backgrounds.

maras2 · 14/09/2015 19:19

Edward and Philippa sitting in a tree xxxxxxxx Their eyes locked over a heaving uterus.Watch this space!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 14/09/2015 21:46

I didn't listen tonight but Edward??? Shock

R4 · 14/09/2015 22:10

Pip was home alone. There was a difficult calving so she asked Ed to help. They were both a bit over-effusive in their praise for each other afterwards. I must admit my first thought was the same as maras2's but, nah: Ed'n'Em are rock solid.

Northernlurker · 14/09/2015 22:26

Ed's never looked at any other woman. I doubt Pip's going to cause a problem in that direction. More likely tonight was to remind us what a star she is Hmm

RockingStones · 14/09/2015 22:44

Or what a star Ed is. About time he got a break, no?

DozeyTwonk · 14/09/2015 22:45

So Henry is wetting the bed and not sleeping. Is Rob doing something to upset him?

RockingStones · 14/09/2015 22:52

Nobody knows yet. Could be something or nothing IMO. But this is soap land.

InimitableJeeves · 14/09/2015 23:32

Interesting that they chose Kenton for that insert. Let's hope he's finally realised that there are many worse things in life than not being handed several thousand quid for nothing.

BertrandRussell · 15/09/2015 07:34

"Or what a star Ed is. About time he got a break, no?"

Yep. Brilliant that he recovered so completely from the ketamine induced brain damage he suffered when he was in his 20s..................

BYOSnowman · 15/09/2015 08:59

I always wondered how ed managed to kick his drug addiction overnight and was never tempted to go back to drugs when in one of his really low points.

There have been a lot of dropped storyline

  1. the blocked culvert - will Jenny or David remember when they hear knob isn't working at the dairy anymore?
  2. carol killing her ex - cant see how this sl could be resurrected
  3. Martyn Gibson and the golf club - dropped like a hot potato
  4. Lillian being left penniless by Matt - she doesn't seem very penniless

There are loads more - along with the unbelievable sl that then don't happen (moving/pips job etc)

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/09/2015 09:15

Yes, Ed got over his addiction problems v quickly, but it was Jazzer who had the ketamine-induced brain damage, from which he has miraculously recovered.

Scarydinosaurs · 15/09/2015 09:16

I thought that ed and pip but was a precursor to 'pip should get the Berrow Farm job'.

Scarydinosaurs · 15/09/2015 09:16

Also, isKenton considering going to JE for the money?? Or was it simply for comparison?
