Chocolate Chip cookie anyone?

OP posts:
enochroot · 28/08/2015 18:49

I caught the afternoon one and this time thought a door closed just before she said, 'Rob?' As though he'd actually gone out of the room.
Bizarre, I know.

And yes, the salmon was ironic Grin

hanahsaunt · 28/08/2015 19:06

Oh my. So hope that was a lightbulb dawning (slowly - it's an energy efficient one) in Helen's head at last ...

selsigfach · 28/08/2015 19:07

Oh god, for the first time ever I actually feel sorry for Helen.

Stickerrocks · 28/08/2015 19:07

Chilling telephone conversation - "did you got out...we both got carried away....don't let me down"

jellycake · 28/08/2015 19:08

WHAT did he do to her? Feel sick with my imaginings.

hanahsaunt · 28/08/2015 19:09

So the drinking was her fault ...! Argh!!!!!

Stickerrocks · 28/08/2015 19:11

Pip's going to change her mind.

I don't see how Helen can make it through the evening without breaking down. She's like an overstretched elastic band about to go ping.

MeolsCop · 28/08/2015 19:14

He raped her Sad

And Pip....well, we knew it, didn't we?

(Regular here btw, name-changing post-hack)

EBearhug · 28/08/2015 19:14

Probably going to get ejected from the thread because though he's clearly vile and manipulative, based on what we heard I think 'rape' is a bit strong. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out he forced himself on her, but again based on what we heard all that panting and giggling didn't sound like someone who didn't want a bit, frankly. She said no to him when she was trying to tidy up, and 'wait, stop' or something similar when she wanted to ask about Jess (fishing much?!) but I didn't hear anything to suggest he forced her. The 'Rob?' was stupidly ambiguous - if it had been more of an exclamation than a question I don't think I'd be saying that. And as the Helen actor is so good I think she was directed to say it like that. And I didn't hear a dress being ripped, either.

But Helen was entitled to say no at any point, and if he went ahead and raped her with no contraception when he knows she doesn't want to get pregnant at the moment, that's not actual consent as I know it, unless she turned round and said, "oh yes Rob, I don't mind us not using contraception, I know what the risks are, let's try for a baby." And I'm pretty sure that we'd have heard it if she had said that. Besides, tonight's start makes it pretty clear it wasn't all as she had dreamt of.

EBearhug · 28/08/2015 19:16

Oh, poor Helen - I bet she thought Pat was the one person she could turn to, and she's been brainwashed by Rob, too.

She's going to have to go and find Jess at some point.

Gruach · 28/08/2015 19:16

That was fun.

Overegging things a bit at the end there. Helen won't confide in Pat now. If she tells anybody what's happened I reckon it would be Adam or Ian. Sad

Well, what a surprise. Pip is going to stay in Ambridge. I don't know when I've ever been so wrongfooted by a longish-term storyline..... not. Hmm

Icimoi · 28/08/2015 19:19

Helen was ignoring the phone and then crying. When she picked up the phone it was Rob demanding to know why she hadn't answered and whether she'd been out. He was then gaslighting her about how pissed she'd been the previous night and how they'd both got carried away. Painful listening.

hanahsaunt · 28/08/2015 19:19

Consent having been drugged before hand is not consent but now he's laying the seeds of doubt by ticking her off for having drunk so much. Hopefully she has the confidence in her memory (can't believe I'm rooting for Helen!!).

Stickerrocks · 28/08/2015 19:19

Silence, then the phone rang & stopped. Helen called for Rob, sobbed, then the phone rang again. Helen wasn't herself when she answered & did n't gush when she found it was Rob. She was very controlled in her responses.

Icimoi · 28/08/2015 19:20

Yes, when Pip asked David whether she still had a job at Brookfield, I really wanted him to say no. Does the poor contract milker get the boot now? Maybe HP can move into whatever accommodation he was going to have.

hanahsaunt · 28/08/2015 19:21

I think that Tom will be the one to come to her rescue in the end.

I'm wondering if Ruth will still have a job.

David was very keen to promote Pip into her DM's role even before she'd graduated.

selsigfach · 28/08/2015 19:25

Brilliant, chilling episode. But bloody Pip could have at least given it a chance, the idiot.

Travelledtheworld · 28/08/2015 19:27

Yes, Helen is beginning to realise she is in a very difficult situation, isn't she? And no clear exit plan.

At least the astonishing rudeness to Jim was witnessed by Linda.
perhaps she, in future, may be a confidante for Helen?

campion · 28/08/2015 19:33

Ruth has a new job-looking after Heather. She did rather volunteer.

Did Tony's bull catch Pat a glancing blow on the head? She's much more shrewd than that (or used to be).

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/08/2015 19:34

I think Helen will convince herself rob couldn't help himself because he loves her so much.

He clearly sees her as property now after that yes it is different being married remark.

I think she might confide in Emmur although she is not in Emmurs good books after the wedding.
Or Lynda.
Or most likely Kirsty whenever she comes bavk. But she will have to fight Rob to be allowed to even speak to Kirsty.

But yes the tell me what is so unattractice about you nearly had me shouting "tell him nothing anything you say can and will be used against you" bitter experience

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2015 19:40

Good. Now Ruth can devote herself to her mother. Oh, and the housekeeping seeing as she's evicted Jill.

Serve her right.
