I think you're right, TheOne, but now that Ed has sold his cows does she still have a job?

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 07/07/2015 16:50

I couldn't even remember what her job was, Gasp0de Grin

probably not then. The entire family has been vaporised

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/07/2015 18:04

No tears shed over that here! Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/07/2015 19:10

Phoebe is lucky to have a sensitive and empathetic gran as her mum doesn't have those traits

Kenton and Kate - kindred spirits!!

Tough job Shula!! Kenton is such an idiot. Shula nearly lost her business due to the gambling didn't she? Its not like he's the only archer who had the bad luck

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/07/2015 19:12

Big mistake Kate!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/07/2015 19:16

Do you think Jenny will offer to how be that Alex is welcome to stay over?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/07/2015 19:25

How be should say phoebe!!

JasperDamerel · 07/07/2015 20:17

Adam and Kenton also returned to Ambridge after their relationships ended while working away from the village.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/07/2015 23:18

Someone up thread suggested phoebe should become a doctor but I doubt she's doing the right a levels - not sure which but think she mentioned French?

All Kate's supposed concern is still all about herself, going on about not getting any thanks for trying to be a good motherHmm.

R4 · 07/07/2015 23:40

Phoebe also hasn't been gathering the relevant work experience to be a medic, vet or dentist. Don't suppose such realities bother the SW.

JessieMcJessie · 08/07/2015 00:15

Rosa and Anna. Rosa worked in Mike's dairy doing bottling, indeed commuting by scooter but not I think after they left Ambridge. Anna was silent but I seem to recall talented at music and played an Albanian folk song at one of Lynda's village hall extravaganzas. Ilona often bemoaned the fact that "the girls" had to share a room and fought a lot; hence the move to the Amside property (Peggy got Lil to give a big discount and paid the balance herself).

EBearhug · 08/07/2015 00:25

I had lost this thread.
I was quite impressed that Jenny got through tonight's conversation with Kate about being a mother being a thankless job without spluttering.

stilllearnin · 08/07/2015 06:51

I can't believe Jenny didn't tell her, gently, that P is an adult and that she is too late in trying to make up for lost time.

lottiegarbanzo · 08/07/2015 07:46

But did Adam and Kenton suffer unrecoverable career setbacks as a direct result of broken relationships, Jasper? Or, like Tom, were they able to cope with relationship upsets while maintaining a career?

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 08/07/2015 08:00

Jenny was VERY restrained. Poor P. She would be better off with no mother than Kate the State.

Time for her dad to get more involved?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/07/2015 08:05

There are a few women in Ambridge who've managed to overcome relationship difficulties and climb the ladder at work.

Christine - first marriage a disaster, then her husband died, kept on working running the stables

Peggy - first marriage a disaster, then her husband died, kept on working at Grey Gables as Jack Woolley's right hand woman

Caroline - all sorts of setbacks including being widowed, kept on working at Grey Gables as Jack Woolley's next right hand woman

Shula - widowed, kept on working at Rodway's, then bought the stables.

Elizabeth - widowed (bit of a theme developing here), kept the business going, and not just ticking over either, she's expanded it.

Brenda - dreadfully disappointing career given her early promise, but she does seem finally to have managed to break away and get a reasonable job in London. Given the above, she should of course think herself lucky not to have been widowed along the way. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 08/07/2015 08:12

That's a bit of a worrying trend! The proportion of main ambridge women who've lost a partner prematurely is staggering

Gruach · 08/07/2015 08:19

Good grief ...

(See what I did?)

florentina1 · 08/07/2015 08:23

Great grumbling Gruach

oddfodd · 08/07/2015 08:32

Shula was a bit wet with Kenton I thought (side note - my phone knows the word Shula and yes I know wet is her middle name Grin )

I found his speech about david being manipulative and devious a bit unlikely. Like there's been simmering resentment for 50 years which is not something I've ever felt there has been.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/07/2015 08:36

Agree odd. Especially given Kentons history of bailouts

Re the widow thing - I guess killing them off is far neater than divorce. I'd watch out if I were Roy, Hayley or Alastair

mummytime · 08/07/2015 09:40

Maybe this is where it will all come out that all these supposed "unfortunate" deaths have really been Carol - in some kind of Scooby Doo finish. Even the Suicide - by either murder or black magic.

No wonder I shout "Don't eat the seed cake" at the Radio.

songbird · 08/07/2015 11:15

Kate: ‘For all those years I wasn’t able to be there for her’

She’s quite deluded isn’t she? ‘wasn’t able to’??? ‘couldn’t be arsed to’ more like!

She and Kenton do make quite a pair!

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 08/07/2015 11:17

KK (Kate and Kenton) have me shouting cross things at the radio. Shula wasn't at all firm enough with him. Why won't SOMEONE say, you shouldn't have spent the money before you had it!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/07/2015 11:55

And if tey had decent insurance would te pub be up and running by now?

Kunton and Kate together were a dream pairing but thankfully a short scene
