I can't resist alliteration Wink

Probably makes me a saddo but I'm loving all the talk of the WI centenary [brushes imaginary dust from imaginary President's badge].

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/08/2015 16:19

Anyone else betting that Kenton's returning good spirits are going to be dashed by the realities of the insurance payout, which won't fund his improvements. This will probably happen just before his birthday party.

YY Errol , that's my thinking too.

CorporationPop · 05/08/2015 17:49

Where do you all stand on the David Vs Kenton saga?

I'm Team Kenton Grin

TeenAndTween · 05/08/2015 17:55

How can you be Team Kenton???

Yes, David should have told Kenton while he was away, but Kenton shouldn't have spent money he didn't yet have. And since he came home Kenton has be rebutting any offers of help, cutting off his nose to spite his face.

WipsGlitter · 05/08/2015 18:01

I'm on the fence. It would be gutting to think you were about to get a windfall and then have it snatched away. OTH he shouldn't have spent the money before he actually had it.

WipsGlitter · 05/08/2015 18:02

I take it he does have insurance and there's not some predictable no insurance storyline.

BertrandRussell · 05/08/2015 18:03

Gosh- it really didn't cross my mind that anyone would be Team Kenton!

BYOSnowman · 05/08/2015 18:13

The whole David Kenton thing is just stupid and a hangover from the stupid relocation sl

Now they've reconciled ed and will I guess they felt they neede to fill it with another sibling fall out. As you do

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/08/2015 18:57

Team Kenton? Eh? Hmm

Kenton is amusing, but he's a fool.

selsigfach · 05/08/2015 19:07

Emma sounds like a right fruitcake. Bridesmaidzilla!

Gruach · 05/08/2015 19:16

Bye bye Village Shoppe ...

BYOSnowman · 05/08/2015 19:16

Pat was badly written tonight

And do we really need another celeb appearance

R4 · 05/08/2015 19:39

Emma's allowed to feel disgruntled. Wouldn't you be miffed if someone asked you to be matron of honour then got married without you - and didn't even have the grace to tell you, you only found out by gossip.
All because Rob couldn't face the village realising that there would be no-one on the groom's side of the church.

BYOSnowman · 05/08/2015 19:47

and more guff from jim and lynda about how romantic a spur of the moment wedding would be. they are both intelligent enough to know marriage law doesn't work that way!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/08/2015 21:27

I got a right pasting on AIBU last night or else I'd get in there and write one from Emma's p
oint of view... Grin

TopazRocks · 05/08/2015 21:27

I am fully expecting a post on AIBU from Emmur. I can imagine MN being split right down the middle on whether she is right to be peeved. Grin

TopazRocks · 05/08/2015 21:29

Oh, great minds, GaspOde!

choccyp1g · 05/08/2015 22:15

I was beginning to think that maybe they weren't really married and somehow Rob had persuaded Helen that it would be fine (and chaeper) to just SAY they were. But Pat has seen photos.

selsigfach · 05/08/2015 22:16

It's just that Emma was making it all about her, and that Helen and Knob should have had a big meringuey wedding because they could afford it. Confused
If I were Emma, I'd have thought "Oh that's a shame I missed out on being a bridesmaid, but how romantic* just eloping in secret! Half wish I'd done that so I could have gotten out of having Great Auntie Ethel at our wedding."

*I do know it wasn't romantic, just Rob being a Knob, btw!

BYOSnowman · 05/08/2015 22:26

i don't really think eloping is romantic tbh!

selsigfach · 05/08/2015 23:00

It's not for me either, but if that's what two people genuinely want, then they should be free to do so without friends grumbling that they missed out on canapés at Lower Loxley! All a moot point really, as Helen actually wanted the dress, flowers, champagne and speeches until Rob told her she didn't!

BYOSnowman · 05/08/2015 23:09

i'm sure some archer will suggest throwing a 'just married' party for helen to go bridezilla about

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/08/2015 07:50

Surely in the spirit of Archer family celebrations it should be a special family tea party? Grin

ElementaryMyDearWatson · 06/08/2015 08:52

My first reaction to Susan's dark hints about the quick marriage being suspicious was to think what a small-minded cow she is: it's hardly likely to be a shotgun wedding given that Helen already has a child outside wedlock. But then I thought that actually, she's right: because Helen would never have thought of that off her own bat, neither would Rob unless he saw an advantage in it for himself.

Emmur's entitled to be miffed about not being maid of honour, and Helen not telling her herself. But all that whinging about being done out of a party is over the top. When a friend of mine did what Helen and Rob did, I think all her friends just felt pleased for her that she had got married in a way that suited her. I didn't hear anyone moaning that they'd been done out of a booze-up.

enochroot · 06/08/2015 09:04

I'm just relieved that Helen and Knob are at last the subject of village gossip. The lack of gossip about them has always seemed peculiar to me.
