Yeah that bit was good, R4.

RocknRollNerd · 24/07/2015 14:53

Also, based on my experience of parents who were similar to Ruth (both only children who left the North to study, married and settled down sout and never went back) the practical side won out extremely quickly. This whole 'oooh nooo but it's me mam' didn't really get much of a look in, decisions were made and stuff sorted out very quickly.

What Ruth doesn't realise is she's bloody lucky to be self employed - most children in her situation have to do the long slog up the A1/M1 at weekends only and it's another reason why things get sorted fast, there isn't the luxury of hanging around at your childhood home for weeks on end trying to locate the washing machine.

I'd love it if there was a scene where Ruth did do the declutter of HeatherPet's cupboards and found 38 jars of Jill's Jam going back to the 1980s! Grin

No one else heard Brian on PM earlier?

I want him as my new best friend.

I did. I'm a touch worried about his liver now. Hmm

I'll miss Debbie. Sad

Gruach · 24/07/2015 19:40

Fairy Debmother?

I wish Adam had confessed ... something. But she knows anyway.

R4 · 24/07/2015 21:01

Oh. I'm so disappointed. I thought that Brine was calling the Debbie / Adam bluff and giving him the heave-ho. Brine shouldn't have tipped Debbie off, the fool.

He was good on PM, very amusing.Smile

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 24/07/2015 21:01

I heard Brian on PM

Impressed (but not convinced) about him & Shula sharing a bottle of white of an evening Grin

I have no idea what went wrong with my ability to spell suspicions before! Every time I look my own post it makes my eyes itch.

Yes, Kate's storyline does need to make sense, but I took it that she had no proof of an affair, just suspicions and then did the typical Kate thing of 'getting her own back' without actually addressing the problem in her marriage. Shallow, impulsive and childish: that's Kate all over.

I'll miss Debbie too. It's been a great week with her. Hopefully her chat with Adam about Charlie gets him to wake up to his emotional affair.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/07/2015 23:13

Gruarch, I was thinking Debbie was a bit of a fairy godmother too. Maybe setting Kate on track as well as Adam both professionally and personally. Wonder if, having hopefully turned Adam back to Ian, she'll lure Charlie away for herself?

Goshitshighuphere · 25/07/2015 08:56

Why do we think that Charlie is bisexual? I thought the women he was with were beards including his sister?

Gruach · 25/07/2015 09:39

Why?

Because he said so. To Adam during one of those interminable conversations where he expressed undying adoration.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/07/2015 11:18

Just listening to the film and Kenton appears to be plannng massive refurbishment of The Bull.

I've missed lots of episodes in the last couple of weeks (visitors), but he was on verge of bankruptcy, so where did he/is he planning to get the money?

minkGrundy · 26/07/2015 11:21

Insurance.

I don't think the plot was ever that they were uninsured, just that insurance was taking its time which is not uncommon i think when there has been widespread damage over an area.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/07/2015 11:25

Ah, thanks mink.

Has the insurance definitely come through or is K jumping the gun again?

minkGrundy · 26/07/2015 12:37

They have not been explicit I don't think?

Scarydinosaurs · 26/07/2015 13:55

Did I imagine there was talk that he hadn't got the proper insurance sorted for the Bull before he went to Oz?

choccyp1g · 26/07/2015 14:25

Think they had buildings insurance but not covered for loss of business. When they had the drain flood last year they lost all Jolene's cowboy outfits; I recall some insurance anguish at the time.

R4 · 26/07/2015 16:03

Were they teasing us or were there dark portents? - Kenton gave very breezy answers to Jim's comments about load-bearing walls and planning permissions. Also, he seems to have changed/enlarged the brief on the day of the site visit and then had plans back within a few days - sounds a bit amateur and slapdash. Who is Ash and what are his credentials?
I'm still not clear about where the cash (?if any?) is coming from. And has Jolene had any say in this?

I do like listening to the film so you can listen with the benefit of hindsight. On the way to take Debbie to the airport, Adam almost had an accident but it was only a near miss so no harm was done. A parallel with Ian / Charlie?

oddfodd · 26/07/2015 18:05

Isn't Fagash still a partner in the Bull? Where's she been through all this bankruptcy/refurb drama?

Minimammoth · 26/07/2015 18:12

Yes I was wondering about Lils, share of the Bull. Also usually insurance only cover for repairing back to what was lost, any major refurb moving walls and the like is an extra expense.
Ther do seem to be a lot of vacancies appearing in Ambridge, they need immigrants.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/07/2015 22:53

Adam didn't like the implication that Charlie and Debbie might have a spark, did he? Well, at least that might lead to more interesting sibling rivalry than (hopefully over and done with) will and ed or the wretched fairbrethren.

minkGrundy · 27/07/2015 00:45

I thought the accident was just to indicate Debbie had unsettled him

Scarydinosaurs · 27/07/2015 12:28

mini is right- it would never cover an update in accident insurance?

Pusscat was asked to help but couldn't afford it.

minkGrundy · 27/07/2015 19:16

Wha wha what? I missed something their. What is the discrepancy Charlie is investigating?

Rathalie · 27/07/2015 19:21

I don't think we know that yet, but Charlie has been aware that things are "not right" with Rob the Knob for a while now, so perhaps this is just another piece in that particular jigsaw.
