friend's baby was the double of granny Giles. It's a measure of our friendship that I could tell him so too.

Ah madsman did you miss that thread about it in AIBU?

I've often wondered how Organics keeps going but put it down to the unfathomable Bridge Farm finances.
So we have decided that Ed is not viable, Organics is not viable, the milk round is unsellable. The only future for Ambridge is to be a motorway service station?Sad

timeandtune I thought about Nancy Reagan too but recent pictures that I googled made her look too approachable to be Peggy's doppleganger.

I don't think Tom was in Canada after all.
I strongly suspect he spent 6 weeks at the knees of Kofi Annan and the Dalai Lama, learning the tools of the trade.

Thread title contenders please?

I agree CUP he's not only had a voice transplant he's had a complete personality overhaul. In that vein I wonder whether Rob was actually a mild mannered and amenable man before he headed there? And could we send Charlie and Kate as an experiment?

minkGrundy · 27/02/2015 20:12

Oedipal flapjacks! It's the Archer's thread

Short enough? Wink
Sp? Though.

Archers: 2015-02-26 Thursday
Can someone explain this to me?... This was the BBC podcast synopsis for yesterday's (Thurs) episode... The one where Peggy told Helen about the will...
"Things are still tricky at Brookfield, and Rob can't believe his eyes."
What did Rob see?? I'm confused?? Hmm

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 27/02/2015 20:17

so why does tom want the shop to close?

enochroot · 27/02/2015 20:19

Oedipal flapjacks and a well lagged water tank deserve to make it into the next thread title.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 27/02/2015 20:23

i think rob couldn't believe his ears

Bea · 27/02/2015 20:25

Buildyourownsnowman -!! That's what I thought must be a typo!
Glad I didn't miss anything then!!

HumphreyCobbler · 27/02/2015 20:55

At least Pat did start to point out that other people manage to look after one child and work too. That was my favourite bit.

The Archers: A thread about a family who live at Brookfield Farm and other nearby places but mainly AT BROOKFIELD FARM

R4 · 27/02/2015 21:27

The Archers: The Pet Shop Boys are so last year. Now it's Wet Wet Wet.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 23:33

BOOP for Usha and also Pat.

The one good thing about Tom wanting to sell AO is that it undermines Rob's 'plotting Tom' fiction - I bet he didn't anticipate that. Probably he thought that the rest of the family would all want to keep it and it would be another wedge between them and Helen. Instead, he seems to be aligning Helen and Tom closer - she thinks Rob will come round to their way of thinking re the will.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 23:37

Didn't Heatherpet tell Ruth that they shouldn't all uproot themselves on her behalf? So hopefully when R 'breaks the news' the response will be a lot more cheerful than she's expecting.

CuttedUpPear · 27/02/2015 23:47

MyPeggy looks like an Ambridge version of Nancy Reagan. Always underweight with steely determination to diet and look groomed. In an English country Viyella type way.

This ^^ exactly. Weighs the same as a partridge. With similar gimlet eyes.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/02/2015 00:15

If I were Ruth, and I went to my best mate to discuss this kind of problem, and they brought up a completely unrelated indiscretion of mine from 10 (?) years ago, I would be very very pusses off. It was also like usher was saying that Ruth had to swallow this because of an affair 10 years ago. Odd

BitOutOfPractice · 28/02/2015 07:00

Pusses = pissed Confused

Icimoi · 28/02/2015 08:43

Just been catching up on last night and getting increasingly impatient with Ruth. When she said something to the effect that there had been a few bumpy patches but nothing to compare to this, I wanted to shake her and pointing out that wanting to shag the cowman is actually quite a lot worse. And as for all that nonsense about "How can I choose between me mum and me family", ffs! She had no difficulty about choosing to put her mum first before. There hasn't been the slightest suggestion that Heatherpet is in any way struggling over recent months despite not having Ruth on her doorstep, and she's clearly not lonely otherwise she'd have been happy to move to Brookfield.

However, the thing I find most irritating about all of this is the reported reaction of the children. I simply do not believe for one moment that two teenage boys are disappointed that they don't have to leave all their friends and make their way in a new school/college and, in Josh's case, that he doesn't have to have his A Levels totally messed up. And I can't honestly see what Pip has to get angry about. So she doesn't get to spend stupid amounts of money buying farming toys. Get over it.

OddFodd · 28/02/2015 08:44

That is exactly what Peggy looks like in my head too. Immobile hair and always clutching a handbag which doesn't contain much.

I thought the Usha/Ruth convo was good except for the bit where Ruth was banging on about the boys being a bit quiet and Ben being worried about Granny Heather being all alone. I just don't buy either of them being keen on moving and they've not given a stuff about Granny Heather's emotional wellbeing for years so it seems a bit unlikely they'd start hand-wringing now.

OddFodd · 28/02/2015 08:45

Oh. Basically what ici said Grin

ppeatfruit · 28/02/2015 08:46

Come on Usha knock Ruth and Dave's heads together. Erm Ruth I remember it being said that there is a very good care package in place for Heatherpet, she has friends and neighbours too. Oh and has lived that far away happily for ever ! Ruth is deluded.

Bluestocking · 28/02/2015 08:46

I thought the "Granny Heather is all alone" bit was weird. It doesn't sound like the sort of thing a mid-teenage boy would say, however much he loved his granny. And realistically, how close would the Dopeys' children be to Heatherpet? They've spent very little time with her.
