It's all getting rather delicious. I feel sorry for Kenton the fool

OP posts:
squeaver · 27/02/2015 11:37

When she didn't run off with Sam, I mean of course!! That would have been a whole other storyline!!!

LillianGish · 27/02/2015 11:52

I just find the Daveed/Rooth rift too artificial. She is not BU to object to his swift about turn with no consultation but it was entirely U (not to mention entirely unbelievable) that he would have agreed to the move in the first place and certainly not without a lot more Are you sure about this Daveed from her and picking up on his sniffing the lilacs and generally getting cold feet. Everything he said last night about them being a team and her being as much a part of Brookfield as him, Phil and Dan was absolutely spot on which is why the whole moving plot was so preposterous in the first place. I just think I'm going to be irritated by everything connected to this plot forever. Knob and Hellin is another matter - I love the way that is developing. I loved Hellin standing up for herself yesterday when Knob started suggesting he knew Peggy better than she did. I loved Tom's put down the re the shop - I'd forgotten Knob's involvement in Tom's move to Canada. I loved Peggy mentioning Knob marrying Hellin. I'm still wondering why there has been no further mention of Hazel Wooley's and Jick's will.
Finally a massive BOOP for Ruth remembering the existence of Usha!

trevortrevorslattery · 27/02/2015 12:03

I remember Giles but just as books of cartoons at my GPs' house.

enochroot · 27/02/2015 12:12

I remember Ruth trying to get him to consider the compensation/bridge option. He wouldn't even think about it.

squeaver · 27/02/2015 12:20

Yes, enoch! Because then it wouldn't be "the Brookfield we love..." So infuriating.

WipsGlitter · 27/02/2015 12:24

Rob's "I'm surprised you don't think the same as me" - chilling! Plus as Helen said it was all pennies from heaven anyway. How big is the lodge supposed to be?

And why is Rob so keen to get his hands on her money??

LillianGish · 27/02/2015 12:39

Knob obviously doesn't have any money of his own. He doesn't own his own home, he's obviously estranged from his parents for what ever reason - they'll probably leave all their cash to Knob junior now. He's going to have to fork out for Knob junior - I think it is not too far fetched to believe he's a bit of a gold digger where Hellin is concerned (though not sure if that ties in with him wanting to close the shop and stopping her from working).

LillianGish · 27/02/2015 12:51

Sorry I meant doesn't obviously have any money of his own.

choccyp1g · 27/02/2015 13:35

Maybe Rob's family don't even own a farm.

CuttedUpPear · 27/02/2015 13:47

When Rob said "I can't believe you don't think the way I do darling", I think what he meant to say was "I can't believe you don't think the way *I programmed you to darling".
I bet his face was like a beetroot. > Angry

Please in the title of the next thread, can we have a mention of Oedipal Flapjacks ?

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 13:52

Alsoflam IMO and E a lot of people get blinded by enthusiasm, optimism and the excitement of moving itself, It's not unusual, often they wake up too late (after the move). Luckily Dave woke up before leaving his birthright.

Enoch I think more of Peggy as an elderly Thatcher character Grin with her matching hat and handbag;or a minor royal!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 27/02/2015 13:58

IMO not everything an a marriage can be done by consensus. So while David could have phrased it better (we need to talk about the farm, done a lot of soul searching, I can't do it, what do you think we can do? - rather than - we can't sell the farm as that's how I feel and ill call it all off tomorrow)

Eg I have strong views on countries whose economies I am happy to support through my tourism dollar and those I am not - dh would quite like to go to some of those countries but I won't. So there's no real discussion to be had. Obv he can go on his own but a bit like the farm move its not always possible or the same thing!

Hakluyt · 27/02/2015 14:06

Interesting (and very mumsnetty) thwt there's all this Oedipal flapjack stuff because David has a good and ongoing relationship with his mother, but not a whimper about Ruth uprooting them lock stock and barrel because her mother is refusing to move to be with them...........

ZeroFunDame · 27/02/2015 14:10

Grin Hak Have you missed the last 3/4/5 threads?

ZeroFunDame · 27/02/2015 14:12

I am listening again. They are both flirting.Angry

nauticant · 27/02/2015 14:51

If the SWs really are reading this thread then I would suggest that the Cheese Strings post by squeaver is the one to consider most carefully.

IrianofWay · 27/02/2015 14:57

Good point hakluyt. Not to mention that Heatherpet didn't want them to move in the first place

PigletJohn · 27/02/2015 15:21

I don't believe Ed is flirting. He is being submissive because he thinks Charlie will do him some good in a business sense (he is wrong, Charlie is rapacious and vindictive).

Ed will react badly if Charlie makes a romantic approach. I forecast a bloody nose and some missing teeth.

Minimammoth · 27/02/2015 15:52

Charlie gives Knob the push, put Ed in place at a fraction of the cost, saves loads a dosh, dos that's all he thinks about anyway.
enochroot I also think of the Giles grannie, for quite a few people. I had considered ' Little White Bull' for Fallons tea room, until I remembered no one would remember it.

enochroot · 27/02/2015 15:57

What if Rob decides to pop over to Peggy's to keep her company while the shop meeting is on? Will she survive long?

enochroot · 27/02/2015 16:02

DH & I were singing LWB in the car last weekend. DD just rolled eyes.

R4 · 27/02/2015 16:11

mini do you mean 'Li'ul Whoite Bull'?Grin
I don't see Piggoi as Giles's louche grandma. Piggoi has a helmet of blue-rinse curls. She is small, bird-like and fastidiously dressed (to a fault). Nothing - not in her house nor on her person - is ever out of place.

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 16:31

Snap BYOS A marriage is about (or should be about) compromise IMO. Certainly not expecting your partner to think as you do re. Knob! Though that's nice sometimes of course Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 16:32

My Dad used to run the bookstall at the church fete, and one year came home with a stack of Giles annuals dating back to about 1950 - so I got a bit of post WWII history whenever I went to the loo (because obviously that's where you keep that sort of thing).

But no, Peggy doesn't remind me of that fearsome granny!

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 16:33

BYOS - the D&R thing is like you saying, oh ok then, letting your DH book the holiday, and then while driving to the airport just turn the car round, isn't it?
