Going back to last Feb 14th, Rob was with neither Helen nor Jess.

I think if Rob were seeing Tina, he would make excuses to go to the shop and he would make sure that H had no reason to go there.
I think it is just that T was his choice. He wants H at home and he doesn't want to be shown up.

Although you would think he'd be much harder on Tina. She is interfering with his plans unless running the shop down is his plan.

He wants Helen at home, barefoot and pregnant. If there's no shop for her to run, that's one less reason for her to leave the house. Then he'll move on to the cheese - the few hours a month it takes her to make it and turn it over will all be too much and he'll tell her she's getting stressed over it and wouldn't it all be much easier if she just gave it up.

Wasn't he in Jess's bed on Valentines last year - as reported by herself?

The shop is a threat to his control, isn't it? Her having any independence.

I'd like to think there was some point in Knob being away i Essex 'on business' a year ago. That greeting of Tina DID sound suspect to me too. There has to be some point in Knob being away in Essex last year 'on business' and staying away unexpectedly, AND in Tina's arrival and making amess of it. Surely.

I thought he was with Jess on Valentine's Day. He wasn't with Hellin and then not long afterwards Jess turned up (when he was away again) and announced that that was where he had been - or am I remembering wrong (can come one with encyclopaedic knowledge and recall please clarify). Nope - Jess was with Helen on valentines day telling her all about terrible rob

He isn't having an affair with Tina. She isn't smart enough - in class or brains. I'm certain he persuaded Helen that she was the best candidate purely because she was in fact the worst. He knew she would drag the shop to its knees. And he's probably been feeding her duff advice the entire time.

So he turns up at the shop and there's Helen, all aglow with the zeal of a born shopkeeper. He can't lie and say Tina's doing well because Helen still has eyes. But he can't say Tina's hopeless and yet Helen should stay at home. He's in a bind. Was fabulous.

But how he loves her! Let me count the ways: her food is too good to share at dinner parties, she's too precious to go into the shop, she's too fragile for a dance lesson ... Would that we were all so - treasured.

Henry wants Rob to read him a story, but Rob is away for the night. With Henry asleep, Helen plans a quiet evening in. But a drunken Jess turns up to see Rob and soon realises that Helen has moved in.

Helen makes it clear that she and Rob are serious about each other. But Jess comes back with venom, saying Helen has no idea what she has taken on. Jess shocks Helen by saying that Rob was with her last Thursday. He wasn't in Essex, he was in her bed.
