As tribute to the best SL at the moment...

OP posts:

I must say when Neil started promising to be masterful I reckoned he was on a promise with Radio Susan. All the heavy breathing suggestiveness around chilli was hilarious.

ZeroFunDame · 09/02/2015 20:44

"For frantic boast and foolish word,
Thy Mercy on Thy People, Lord!
Amen."

Less mawkish...

Doesn't Lynda still have her llamas? Or at least one - I think one died, TB was suspected but it was something else.

Or Sweeney Plod - where a creative young woman produces remarkably lifelike full size statues for decorative purposes. They sell for a fortune and no one knows they are really the embalmed and up cycled corpses of random criminals brought into her DM's pub by her policeman boyfriend.

stilllearnin · 09/02/2015 21:01

I am making chilli right now (I really am!) but dp is supervising the watching of Waterloo road! So there goes that...

Yes defo The Long Goodbye enoch Grin

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 09/02/2015 21:02

Lynda had Wolfgang & Costanza, & then did they have a baby Salieri or did I dream that?

Then Wolfgang died & was suspected to have TB but didn't?

Minimammoth · 09/02/2015 21:16

zero I Love the 'Sweeney plod' plot.

Bluestocking · 09/02/2015 21:20

Zero, I can think of two films (A Bucket of Blood and The Rebel which have exactly that plot!

LillianGish · 09/02/2015 21:22

Grin Sweeney Plod.

nauticant · 09/02/2015 21:31

Oh, Sweeney Plod is very fine. More than a touch of Carry on Screaming about it too.

ZeroFunDame · 09/02/2015 21:35

Nooooo!

I knew I should have tried harder. In my defence I've never heard of either film. And I'm quite sure I wouldn't like them.

Hmmm. The only other showtune I like is "I've Never Been In Love Before" from Guys & Dolls." But I don't know the plot.

Oooh - "Marry Me A Little" from errr..? What could TA do with that?

Bluestocking · 09/02/2015 21:56

They're both pretty awful, Zero!
I've just LAd. Dopey Deevid and RoboPip were utterly vomtastic. And what was that completely unfunny punch line about new toys smelling of custard because they'd been dipped in trifle?
Neeyull and Soosan's Big Chilli Night is a bit of a worry too. "I've got all the ... ingredients."

florentina1 · 09/02/2015 21:57

We should start a whole new site Archersnet. We could all pretend to be characters and post AIBU

My wife is inviting all the harridans of the village to,live in my house

My daughter is greedy and is messing with my mind by changing her voice mid sentence

My son is planning a wedding but losing his business.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/02/2015 22:10

Loving The Grapes of Ruth and Sweeney Plod Grin

Does anyone else think NewTom sounds as if he is just reading his lines rather than acting them? And his voice is much too young for someone in his 30s

Peep, on the other hand, sounds as if she's about 45 (and male)

Bore of whabylon thanks. just shows there's nothing new under the sun.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/02/2015 22:15

Happy memories, Bore! I think that might have been the first MN thread I ever read, or at any rate posted on (not under this name, obv). Start of a slippery slope... Smile

Bluestocking · 09/02/2015 22:15

AIBU to enjoy two geriatric yokels fighting over me at a dance lesson in the local boozer?

Relationships. Not so DP has done a runner with all my money and everything in the house that wasn't nailed down. Would this be a deal breaker for you?

Higher education. I'm a mature student, but very youthful in outlook. I get on really well with the other students on my course - they often say they can't believe I've got three DCs! That aspect of my studies is going really well, but I'm beginning to think that my tutors aren't taking my previous experience seriously enough. I mean, I've spent five years volunteering at orphanages in S Africa. Admittedly, my family responsibilities meant I could only spend an hour a week at the orphanage, but the directors always said I was such a sensitive and empathic person that it always felt to them as though I was there for far longer than that. How can I get the course leader to give me more credit?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/02/2015 22:17

Come now, come now! William Troughton got the part after doing the best audition. It may have helped, of course, that none of the other actors auditioning could meet the essential requirement of having the surname Troughton.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/02/2015 22:18

Bluestocking, Grin! Especially the last one.

Bluestocking · 09/02/2015 22:20

Grin Mimsy! I'm disturbed by how easily I can channel Kate - my inner spoilt brat is strong!
