OK, this was posted on another site on January 1st 2014

'Based upon a letter in the DM from a reader who alleged they had overheard "an obnoxiously loud member of TA production team" in a Birmingham restaurant. Believe it at your peril.

Rob is revealed to be homophobic.
Jill will move into Brookfield.
The Grundy's to move back to Grange Farm.
Tom will take over the running of Bridge Farm after Tony has an accident.
Lower Loxley may burn down, but that has yet to be decided upon.
Lynda is to stage Blithe Spirit next Christmas.

Or not, as the case may be...'

How much more will come to pass, I wonder?

What exactly does the expression 'the chips are down' mean? I've never known.
And now it seems imperative!
Hoping it means the Brookfield sale falls through.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 21:34

The archers of Brookfield will be thoroughly despised once its found out Justin is buying the land

Then it will fall through (because of sinkhole etc) and they will find they've burnt their bridges in ambridge

LillianGish · 26/11/2014 06:37

The chips are down means things aren't going well.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 09:08

Is it a gambling expression- as in you don't have many chips left?

Doesn't it mean things aren't going well but you can still keep goibg

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/11/2014 18:51

There's to be an 'unexpected arrival' tonight.

Gosh. Who could it possibly be?

I'm thinking chipolatas and lumberjacks...

So Roy gets a mention(Xmas eve suicide anyone?)

What is Alice's radical decision? That she's going to start working full time?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 27/11/2014 22:45

Chris needs a makeover and elocution lessons. Suddenly he sounds just like Dudley Dursley! [If you don't follow this look at DDD's post on the other thread...]

BringYourOwnSnowman · 27/11/2014 22:46

Ha! Yes - it is also imperative that we are no longer able to recognise the characters by voice alone....

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2014 08:47

Oooh! Ooooh! Oooooh!!!

Lynda's production of Blithe Spirit to be broadcast in its entirety on Boxing Day, according to DM

BringYourOwnSnowman · 28/11/2014 09:52

Oh yawn- another celeb cameo too

So that explains it - the 90 min show will be a program in its own right so you can enjoy it without knowing anything about it. Well good way to et existing actors to do another production to show their range. I'm sure the new ambitious actors will love the opportunity to show their range

Despite their dad being at deaths door I'm sure Tom and Helen will enjoy their roles

I like the archers but I get the feeling they keep trying to make it into more of a franchise now. Amex didn't work so will see if any of this will

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/11/2014 09:56

Julian Rhind-Tutt? Goodness me.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 29/11/2014 10:10

Aka Julian Ryan Tutt (at the bottom of that DM piece Grin. God they are inept!

Icimoi · 30/11/2014 10:22

I bet Alice is going to give up her job and do something stupid like joining Fallon's upcycling empire - as you do when you have sweated blood to get a difficult qualification and a good job within the relevant industry. I suspect even the SWs have realised the amount of time she can take off at the drop of a hat is a tad improbable, and have decided that if they're not getting rid of the character then the only way to include her in the story lines is to have her change jobs.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/11/2014 10:33

It wouldn't surprise me ici - she will probably be in charge if fallons website.

Would be seriously disappointing though.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 30/11/2014 12:00

I would self-combust if that happened. I've always thought TA is out of step by having so few younger people going to university and moving away to get a decent job. Alice's career path was a welcome change, even if she did implausibly go to Felpersham for her MSc and then even more implausibly find a good job within commuting distance of Ambridge. Angry

Selks · 30/11/2014 12:17

Ooh what's coming up for Ed and Emma, do we think? Something good I hope.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/11/2014 12:56

Yes, I've been worrying about the drive to downgrade Alice's professional status. I don't understand why they have so much difficulty with this. It would have been fascinating to hear something of her working life - it is after all "The Archers" not "Little Ambridge".

But tired of defending all the changes now. (The Troughton thing has unsettled me.)

Even though people do give up hard won professional careers in RL it would be indefensible in this context.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/11/2014 12:57

Hmm Bit tired...

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/11/2014 13:08

If they can't cope with a professional that works outside ambridge why don't they find one that can work within (or at least felpersham) like a vet, doctor, accountant etc

They really short change te women of ambridge

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 30/11/2014 19:21

I've now come across at least two comments from people who heard Feedback a couple of weeks ago when a woman spokesperson apparently said that Brookfield wouldn't be sold. Is this right? It does rather take the tension out of the story if true!

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/11/2014 20:22

Interesting mimsy. Would be good to know one way or the other

The thing that annoys me about the story is that it seems so obvious that they won't be selling so there isn't any dramatic tension! I will be astounded if they move so that would be a more shocking turn of events

LillianGish · 30/11/2014 20:39

I have never for a moment believed it would be sold. I too would be far more astonished if the sale actually went ahead and Dvid and Ruth left Ambridge.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2014 21:29

I agree Lilian

I'll be interested to see how the SWs get the Dopeys out of it in the end.
