OK, this was posted on another site on January 1st 2014

'Based upon a letter in the DM from a reader who alleged they had overheard "an obnoxiously loud member of TA production team" in a Birmingham restaurant. Believe it at your peril.

Rob is revealed to be homophobic.
Jill will move into Brookfield.
The Grundy's to move back to Grange Farm.
Tom will take over the running of Bridge Farm after Tony has an accident.
Lower Loxley may burn down, but that has yet to be decided upon.
Lynda is to stage Blithe Spirit next Christmas.

Or not, as the case may be...'

How much more will come to pass, I wonder?

Now now BYOS Language Grin

I understand though SOC's a right arse.

Vango · 08/05/2016 16:19

I read the guardian article with my mouth hanging open! Who are these people who are bemoaning his departure? Seriously? As deluded as the lovely Rob!

Marchate · 08/05/2016 18:43

I am exactly Shula's age. I have never identified with her

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 12:51

"The Aldridges have one child together Kate, a sometime feckless hippy"

The writer isn't an Archers listener then.

BYOSnowman · 09/05/2016 14:53

Yeah - I mean who would think Kate was only sometimes feckless!!

I'm surprised they couldn't find one reporter who is an archers fan.

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 15:04

It's worse than that - "sometime" means "former"!

So Alice never existed, & Kate is now a reformed character, in his Archers Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/05/2016 15:15

To be fair (what am I saying?) I think we have to lay that at the door of the Grauniad, rather than SOC.

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 15:37

That was from the Telegraph! Robert somebody - senior something?

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 15:38

Robert Mendick, Chief Reporter

it's his text, not SOC's

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/07/outgoing-archers-editor-reveals-new-titanic-struggle-plot-line-f/

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/05/2016 15:48

Sorry - I thought it was the Guardian article we've been slating on the main thread! Must read this one now. Another big ego trip for SOC, I anticipate! I must say, I look forward to the EastEnders audience's reaction to his analogies with Hardy. Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/05/2016 15:50

Good grief. I've read it now. I know newspapers are struggling a bit but has it really come to the point where they just summarise each other's interviews? That's all that is - a blatant ripoff of the Guardian interview. Hmm

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 15:57

The Guardian one is awful, isn't it! Though I'm guessing that as a "40-year-listener" Decca wouldn't make such a rookie error.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/05/2016 16:00

I have to say that I'm treating that claim to be a 40-year TA listener with the same scepticism I apply to London media types who claim to be lifelong Man U fans. Grin

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 16:01

oops, didn't see your second one before I posted again. Yes it is, & it doesn't even have the grace to link or refer to it! Just to the DT's own piece when he announced he was going! Hmm

The DM is bad for nicking stuff too but it does usually acknowledge the source. Maybe reading reports in all the other papers is what a Chief Reporter.

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 16:02

oh dear, we're doing the 2 Ronnies mastermind sketch now Grin

BYOSnowman · 09/05/2016 16:45

Which came first - the guardian article or the telegraph article?

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 17:47

Telegraph definitely quoting the Guardian!

Decca piece logged 0800 on Saturday
Chief Reporter piece logged 1235 on Saturday

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 17:51

The red underlined words suggest a link to the "interview to mark the end of his tenure" but actually link to their own interview marking the announcement of his departure, 3 months ago.

Very shifty behaviour all round Angry

BYOSnowman · 09/05/2016 17:55

Given we never hear ruari is that just a random kid?

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 18:10

I think that's the Irish kid who played him initially (the one who had Mousie)

LowDudgeon · 09/05/2016 18:14

Although Google tells me Charles C never met the Ruari actor so you could be right Grin

Vango · 09/05/2016 19:16

Wait for it........ Grin

DadDadDad · 09/05/2016 22:49

Wow! This thread has finally filled after a year and a half. Are you going to start a follow-on, Bore.

If no-one else posts here, that leaves one post, for someone to put the link to new thread...
