OK, this was posted on another site on January 1st 2014

'Based upon a letter in the DM from a reader who alleged they had overheard "an obnoxiously loud member of TA production team" in a Birmingham restaurant. Believe it at your peril.

Rob is revealed to be homophobic.
Jill will move into Brookfield.
The Grundy's to move back to Grange Farm.
Tom will take over the running of Bridge Farm after Tony has an accident.
Lower Loxley may burn down, but that has yet to be decided upon.
Lynda is to stage Blithe Spirit next Christmas.

Or not, as the case may be...'

How much more will come to pass, I wonder?

Helen gets a special visit? Jess? The in-laws?

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/11/2015 17:47

Jess, Knobparents or Kirsty, I reckon

And too much information for Helen? I do hope someone will be dishing the dirt on Knob!

OP posts:
mummytime · 21/11/2015 08:27

Oh it does sound hopeful that the dirties going to finally come out about Rob.

GruntledOne · 24/11/2015 11:24

These are getting positively misleading. I take it the "lovely surprise" for Rob yesterday was the scan appointment. But since he arranged it it can't exactly have been a surprise.

Gruach · 24/11/2015 13:10

True. I thought it would be a surprise for Rob.

That toast to Helen this Thursday - she's not going to be allowed to attend the shop opening is she? It will be a toast in her absence.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 24/11/2015 13:18

What date is Helen's scan going to be?

Gruach · 25/11/2015 22:14

Great detective work Gasp0!

Calendar Girls star confirmed.

(I have shouted this all over the other thread because it's just arrived on the BBC site and I was excited. Now I'm afraid I've done just what I hate other people doing on non-spoiler threads.)

GruntledOne · 25/11/2015 22:19

It's not exactly a spoiler, though, is it, apart mainly from the involvement of Sian Phillips?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/11/2015 22:37

It's not a spoiler. I am mightily miffed that she isn't going to play Ursula, though - well, at least I assume she isn't. Could she be the fabled Hilary Noakes? Can't see who else they can suddenly shoehorn in.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 12:01

Some interesting stuff

OP posts:
FinestGrundyTurkey · 28/11/2015 14:37

Thanks for that, Bore - very interesting (if a bit frustrating re Rob & his future Hmm)

Tempted to post this on the other thread:

because they write so far in advance they take absolutely no notice (in the nicest way)of what’s said on Twitter, Facebook etc as there’s little point

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 15:12

Yes - also I always understood it was about six weeks in advance but is apparently much longer

OP posts:
FinestGrundyTurkey · 28/11/2015 15:16

I think the recordings are 6 weeks in advance? But writing clearly ahead of that (which makes sense! 6 weeks from now would mean they're currently recording for mid-Jan, so they're writing a month ahead of that which gives them time to tweak)

FinestGrundyTurkey · 28/11/2015 15:24

& the other most interesting bit is the loss of the dedicated continuity person. That explains a lot...

They should rope in a panel of volunteers from the long-term listeners Grin (They'd have to throw in a few red herrings in case of loose lips though)

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 15:29

Ah yes - it says scripts are written 11 weeks in advance, not recorded.

We are indeed seeing the lack of continuity person though - volunteer rota would be brilliant!

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/11/2015 15:31

Ooooooooh! Re that spoiler - is it too much to hope it might be a phone call that was meant, rather than a face to face scene?

Is anyone at all surprised that there is now no archivist? Mind you, they're missing a trick. I'd do that job for nothing (in fact, I'd pay to do it) and my TA knowledge is outclassed by some of the other people who used to post on the BBC Archers messageboard.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 15:33

An international phone call, Gasp0de ?

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/11/2015 16:01

Yes, that would do nicely. An international phone call to announce she's going into a Trappist convent. Grin

Gruach · 28/11/2015 18:08

Thanks Bore, the info in the link corresponds with what I've understood about how things are run. Confirmation of the non existence of a working archivist is alarming, though not really surprising. They simply don't know what they're doing nowadays.

I also assumed Valentine's Day might be a sorrowful international phone all.

GypsyFl0ss · 28/11/2015 18:14

Yes! That would work for me.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 22:31

They have earthquakes in New Zealand...

OP posts:
GruntledOne · 28/11/2015 22:47

How on earth could Keri describe Knob as not a monster but just someone who considers Helen as weak? Surely that's totally inconsistent with the rape?

LillianGish · 28/11/2015 22:48

I've been thinking earthquakes for a while - dodge the sinkhole, but get swallowed up by an earthquake.

LillianGish · 28/11/2015 22:51

Excellent point Gruntled - and the lack of an archivist can hardly be blamed for that oversight.

Gruach · 29/11/2015 07:02

It is seriously worrying if the person writing the character doesn't understand what they've created. No wonder everything on TA seems so inconsistent, illogical and oddly timed nowadays.
