That's what I thought, Zero.
Brian was Chair of BL until Justin bought up enough shares to out vote him but Brian is still a major shareholder. He would continue to have a large shareholding but could run Home Farm with Adam perfectly well.

DH pointed out last night that it was rather absurd Jennifer running out of cream when she has a mega-dairy so near!

PigletJohn · 05/11/2014 18:41

If, as I guess, margins on agricultural contracts are quite tight, it is possible that losing the contract and closing down that segment of the business would do no more that making the Aldridge empire slightly smaller, and perhaps reducing the number of full-time staff, or the amount of overtime that Adam works. As Brian approaches decrepitude someone else will have to take over.

Alternatively, Adam might throw in the Home Farm towel.

PetulaGordino · 05/11/2014 18:42

i expect it's a matter of pride though. and there's debbie too...

guineapiglet · 05/11/2014 18:46

.... And roary....ruairi... Correct spelling please??

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 18:50

Do we think Tamsin Greig will be back at Home Farm (demanding her own combine harvester) if the BL contract disintegrates?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 18:51

Your latter gp.

PetulaGordino · 05/11/2014 18:53

i don't know, it depends on the contractual terms i guess. is she part of the BL contract with home farm, or is she a direct employee? they can't just sack her because they've terminated the contract with her family's farm

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 19:02

Stupid me! I was being facetious but I didn't actually write what I meant. Of course the Hungary stuff is separate and shouldn't really depend on what happens with Home Farm. So she could stay on in Hungary regardless. What I was imagining was her being entirely dumped by BL. And I was thinking more of the actress than Debbie. Neither of them ever need to return to the UK. SadGrin

PetulaGordino · 05/11/2014 19:05

oh i see what you mean. they were unhappy with her work a few months ago weren't they? so if they do ditch her it wouldn't be that surprising

PetulaGordino · 05/11/2014 19:05

debbie, not tamsin greig!

Icimoi · 05/11/2014 19:20

Blithe Spirit? What happened to the one woman show? But they're obviously determined to keep the theme of communing with spirits going.

unitarian · 05/11/2014 19:38

Has Johnnie been drawn to one of the Button girls or is it Lily lurking under the tree?

Tony is doing a better job with his GS than he did with his sons.

unitarian · 05/11/2014 19:39

It is nice to know Lindy's got her tail up again though.

Icimoi · 05/11/2014 19:42

It can't be Lily that Johnnie was talking to, as we all know she doesn't talk, she only mimes.

unitarian · 05/11/2014 19:43

They can text each other a lot!

Abra1d · 05/11/2014 19:46

A lot of those shooters weren't really 'landed gentry'they were businessmen. Less commercially run shoots aren't like thatthey don't lay down all those birds and it's not so industrial. I know people who shoot and they don't really approve of that kind of things and prefer something a bit less 'managed' and somehow more sporting.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 19:48

I'm struggling to think of a (suitable) girl in Ambridge that Johnny isn't related to.

Lily
Phoebe
?

MollyBdenum · 05/11/2014 19:52

He is related to Lily.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 19:52
  • Sorry, obviously meant who could he be speaking to other than Ms Tucker or Ms Pargetter who are both too closely related to be interesting - storywise.
MollyBdenum · 05/11/2014 19:56

Doh, sorry, I was getting it muddled up. The vicar's daughter is too old. There are bound to be non speaking female staff at Grey Gables/keen riders at the stables/ a part time cheesemaker/ an intern or placement student or girl from college.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/11/2014 20:03

My first post was very unclear. Grin

But Tony exclaimed in a manner that suggested it would be someone "we" know... Who else is there? Rosa is probably a little older and probably wouldn't have gone all the way to Ambridge.

Icimoi · 05/11/2014 20:05

Maybe he's going for the older woman. Fallon?

cheminotte · 05/11/2014 20:07

Pip?

ppeatfruit · 05/11/2014 20:23

The problem is men and their penises jessie Do you reckon that Ed would've thought about his brother? The Lizroy affair said it all IMO and E most men don't think at all when it comes to their lusts.

cryhavoc · 05/11/2014 20:42

How old are the Button girls? Could RichJohn be under the tree with Tilly or Molly? Bringing a Button into the Archer clan would be as controversial as Alice marrying Christyfur.

I love the bits with Tony and Johnny. I've never really warmed to Tony, but the scenes with the two of them are so warm and happy. I want him to be good.

For the purposes of the spreadshit, I am 32, and have been listening on and off for about 7 years. I started listening to R4 when PFB was tiny, because I was worried about rotting her brain with daytime TV.
