I thought he was behaving out of character last night

And shot girls? I thought it was a ball? Seems to have been an excuse for everyone to get wasted.

Alice was at the seance. She took a day off work dontcha know. And she wanted one of the wright brothers to come through on the seance cos she luffs planes dontcha know.

I thought tonight's episode was crap bit at least we got to hear ian

BasketzatDawn · 30/10/2014 21:02

Did she really mention the Wright brothers? I di hear her on her hawse earlier. ds1's first ever school project was on the Wright brothers. I think I know as much as I need to about them. Smile So Carol wasn't there?

I looked up shot girls. it seems Diageo can provide ones with 'wonderful personalities'.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/10/2014 21:14

Yep

And there was a very crude joke

I agree with pp about attracting listeners in the wrong way. Sean o'connor seems to have real disdain for older listeners which I find deeply unpleasant. The bbc shouldn't be restricted to just trying to attract yoof

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/10/2014 21:20

I must have missed the crude joke!

Icimoi · 30/10/2014 21:24

So why was Adam so wrecked after the HB? Having a busy time with Charlie?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/10/2014 21:32

Jennifer said something like 'spirits come between us' and lil and Alice fell about laughing with dirty laughs

Re Adam - I would take from his convo with Ian that Charlie is still playing hard to get

Icimoi · 30/10/2014 21:46

So do we take it that Carol cut the brake cables of husband no. 1's car?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 30/10/2014 23:28

What the actual FECK was that Seance?
And JD needed a special table from the barn?Couldn't she have done one on Kingsley's island?!?

ROb at the ball = the horror
And of course Rebecca was Charlie's sister.
Isn't Spearmint glue by now?!

And I didn't hear all the blurb about the halloween car crahs - someone fill me in please? Is this more tregorran nonsense?
Surely she is just like Leonie laughing at the yokels.mucking about with pore Joe Grundy in the Cyder Shedde.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 30/10/2014 23:36

The seance was written by a great wit who deserved his £929 for writing that humdinger of an episode, or not.

Johns first wife was killed in a car crash where carols first husband was badly injured and they divorced leaving her free to marry John.

Carol is a serial killer who will be used to get rid of characters Sean doesn't like. Watch your step Jenny

Hakluyt · 30/10/2014 23:47

Was this the first we had heard of the seance?

justiceofthePeas · 31/10/2014 00:54

Deevid and Roooth can go if they want but not JD!!!
Wouldn't mind if Carol offed Peggy though.

The seance was heavily trailed as having been something Tregorran was briefly interested in then moved on (Carol implied IMO in a similar way to that in which he had briefly been interested in JD).

unitarian · 31/10/2014 01:12

Not the first mention of the séance, Hakluyt, but you can be forgiven for glazing over.
Jenny's been leading up to it for a week or so because John's books turn out to be about spiritualism and she seems to think Carol did him in. I think she was hoping his spirit would appear and give her the low down on Carol.
The good thing about it was that it gave Lillian a chance to be mischievous and Brian showed how to deflate his DP's flights of fancy with humour and no cruelty.

Oh, the other good bit was that Carol wasn't in the episode. If Matt could now make an appearance my cup would run over.

PumpkinGordino · 31/10/2014 02:46

Alice sounded callous and shallow with her "OMG DRAMA!" reaction to what happened with Carol and John's spouses and the crash. Is that usual for her character?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 31/10/2014 08:11

I thought that was weird pumpkin

She's a nanny in real life!

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2014 08:20

Ref. HB and Hellrob. being 'told' not to drink was very controlling IMO she's not an alky is she? If he's so insecure at work he may as well leave.

northernlurker · 31/10/2014 11:38

Just listening to hunt ball epi - I felt quite sick listening to Rob's views on the dress. Poor Helen :(

Icimoi · 31/10/2014 13:30

Wondering whether the Hunt Ball will lead to any development in the Roy/Lizzie saga. He may be disappointed that the whole thing wasn't a total disaster due to lacking his supervision, or he may claim credit for rescuing it by dealing with Lizzie's last minute queries.

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2014 13:33

Well Pumpkin although obviously very 'scientific' Alice is not known for the depths of her compassion and intellect! Halloween Grin I like a bit daftness me, the seance was fun Halloween Grin.

Hell must LTB the screws are tightening but it's not going to be pretty is it?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 31/10/2014 13:33

Maybe it was his idea to get the shot girl and this stroke if genius will lead to him being much in demand

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2014 13:36

Oh blimey BYOS and the bucking bronco FGS all the hooray henrys having 'such fun' vom.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 31/10/2014 13:42

I thought the hunt ball was a cliche of what the sw think happens at these events. I think they probably read prince Harry's back log of party articles when writing it.

In reality I would imagine these kind of events are pretty stuffy!

Also thought it was a hugely mysogybistic portrayal but I don't know if that is representative of the hunting set or not. Given Caroline was hugely involved in organising it I was surprised at the entertainment

unitarian · 31/10/2014 14:34

We learned the next day that Lillian et al were there, albeit silently.
What a pity one of them didn't know that Helen had bought sexy new dress and would have noticed when she turned up in a sack.

BUT was Alistair there?

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2014 16:04

Yes because Shula is a hunt enthusiast. Odd we didn't hear from her . (I noticed she said to Lizzie (was it?) that Al is usually away at the weekends - I reckon trouble's brewing there.

Icimoi · 31/10/2014 17:18

Just thinking - if you were JD and seriously wanted to get through to the spirits, would you really ask Fagash to the séance? Surely it's pretty obvious that she would be totally sceptical and take the piss, which is hardly productive of the kind of atmosphere that the spirits would find encouraging.
