It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.

Nelson was way back but he was a male Lillian!

Jazzer has grown on me, especially when he said 'I will be working with vegetables now' and Lillian retorted that's no way to talk about pat and tony! Wmsl! Grin

Peggy has become loathesome I agree and yes, Usha! A really sensible female character. bit boring as no decent story lines once the 'marrying the vicar' Shock bit was done

Nigel was better when he was 'nice but dim tim Nigel. When he got all intelligent he lost a bit of his shine but I still liked him.

Allmimsy....I am very happy too to have found this stroll along the Am Grin

I don't like Usha. She seems to spend all her time Being Angry or nagging Alan. She's not involved with the village at all, is she?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 08/06/2014 20:27

Have to disagree R4! I'd say single-handedly saving Ruth and David's marriage makes her pretty invoved. I'm sure I remember her, over the years, having a shot at various gardening and baking competitions and being active in the bookclub - as well as being the go-to legal bod for every resident's problems. (Have I made any of this up?) But as a well educated incomer she does have a life outside the village, unlike most people there... I think her relativly rare appearances reflect that.

I'm also hoping that with new writers and a new editor they may find some un-cliched storylines for her in the future. (It would be very interesting, to me, to hear more about her working life - I'm sure some of her caseload must touch on village interests...)

I am completely Blush at how much time I have spent thinking about this.)

zero, yes you're right about usha, she's been quite involved in village events in the past.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/06/2014 23:35

Could one of you knowledgable types remind me who Hilary Noakes is? I know she gets mentioned occasionally but is there a back story with her and Lynda?

Kirk1 · 09/06/2014 07:32

I know this is a bit late, but what is this thing with Lillian and Paul people keep mentioning? He was Matt's half-brother, who turned up while Matt was in prison wasn't he? I thought he left after Matt got out. I stopped listening for a while after that, so what did I miss?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/06/2014 08:06

Torrid affair, Kirk1. I think it was last year. It went on and on and on and on and eventually stopped dead, literally, because Paul had a heart attack and dropped dead. There was a lot of unfinished business there because we knew that there was a lot about Paul that Lilian wasn't party to, mostly involving his ex-wife, and I think Matt knew a lot more than Lilian ever realised too, but as a good deal of this came out on Ambridge Extra rather than TA proper I'm not sure. It all got very tedious and I was glad when it was finally over.

Bit - Hilary Noakes is a silent character who lives in one of the newer houses in the village. She has a parrot, I think. As far as I can recall, she has the reputation of being rather formidable which is probably why she and Lynda don't get on.

PseudoBadger · 09/06/2014 08:10

She essentially shagged him to death Kirk.

As an inveterate Talking Heads fan, Pseudo, I do like that! I shall have a little sing every time I see it. Off to mark my place now.
