Roll up roll up for The Wedding special from Catheter Hall. Is the lark flying high? Will Krusty jam that ring on the porky finger?

Also Tom's hopeful "Having a wobble?" when he goes to give Kirsty the pearls. Can't help thinking if only he could have spoken to her then there might gave been a different outcome. Or did the suggestion by Helen that she was having a wobble encourage him in his own wobbling?

Burmahere · 27/04/2014 10:42

Yes I'm listening intently to the Omnibus, not sure I can bear reliving the actual 'event' though.

Those Peacocks sound particularly menacing...

LillianGish · 27/04/2014 11:03

Heard the pearls that time - pearls before a swine!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/04/2014 11:24

Observer review. With rather mixed comments beneath.

LillianGish · 27/04/2014 11:49

Thanks for that link. Is it my imagination or does the phrase "tests Tom and Kirsty as a couple" hint at some sort of reconciliation?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/04/2014 12:00

I wondered about that too...

PocketFluff · 27/04/2014 12:07

Hmmm... Massive spoiler?

WillieWaggledagger · 27/04/2014 12:38

the annabelle dowler webchat sort of hinted at similar (or rather, didn't shoot down the idea of kirsty giving tom another chance)

TypicaLibra · 27/04/2014 13:26

I remember when Tom dumped Kirsty the first time (for Tamsin the supermarket buyer who dumped him in turn very swiftly after that). That was traumatising enough and in public as well - were they in a restaurant at the time? Just can't believe he's gone and done it again and in a twenty-fold more humiliating way.

Really hard to believe she would give him another chance!

DodderyOldSoul · 27/04/2014 13:35

She loves him, he's having a breakdown. She'll take him back...

Martorana · 27/04/2014 13:38

I bet if she came on Mumsnet there would be people telling her it was all her fault for letting the wedding take over and that she should take him back...........

AlbertHerbertHawkins · 27/04/2014 13:38

Can't stop worrying about Tom. Kirsty was getting on my nerves with all that OTT bridezilla stuff.

unitarian · 27/04/2014 13:51

I still don't get how Helen got a Ribena stain out of The Dress!

Abra1d · 27/04/2014 13:53

Is Tom supposed to be utterly gorgeous as well? I almost hope they do get back together.

Thanks for the Observer link, Zero. I had noticed that there were some deeper themes coming more to the surface in the Archers in recent months. Peggy as a kind of King Lear figure, deciding who she should leave her money to.

And the Hardy-esque Kirsty, definitely.

Is Fallon's policeman a kind of Sergeant Troy???

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/04/2014 14:03

..... something will probably burn while I'm typing...

unitarian Kirsty wore the other dress. The one she bought instead of the £2,500 one. From what was said I think I understand that she and Helen were at LL and Helen drove back to Ambridge to collect it.

Mr O'C isn't the first soap controller to aspire to classical references. I remember, about 13/14 years ago, a Lysistrata style withdrawal of services by the women in Neighbours - I think to try to end some silly menz feud. (I'm ashamed.)

Davros · 27/04/2014 14:07

Did someone up thread mention education if the younger characters including Coriander? Wasn't that Lyndypop's goat??!
I listened to the film and then caught up on thus thread. I loved every minute and - du du derrr - I feel sorry for Tom!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 27/04/2014 14:22

I love this film business! Thank you to whoever first mentioned calling it a film.

On a spooky note, my dad has just told me that one of my distant cousins has had to cancel her wedding because the groom felt unable to go through with it. That was a few weeks in advance, though.

Coriander - not the goat! Robert's daughters from his first marriage are Coriander and Leonie. The goats are/were Demeter and Persephone. The llamas are/were Wolfgang (RIP), Constanza and Salieri (offspring of the first two - odd choice of name in the circs, but there you go).

Davros · 27/04/2014 14:47

The animals did better than the humans in the name department

WillieWaggledagger · 27/04/2014 15:18

It's my family that call it the Archers film (I'm sure others do too)

I don't think MN would tell Kirsty to take him back. I think if given the whole back story she'd be told that he's messed her around so much, and he's told her he doesn't want her, so she should listen to that and go no contact until someone worthy of her comes along.

Bluestocking · 27/04/2014 16:04

I'd forgotten that Tom has form for dumping Kirsty in public! That restaurant dumping (after his head was turned by Tamsin's interest in his chipolata) was just a warm-up, wasn't it? She'd be insane to consider taking him back, but it would make for a great long-running storyline.
I did enjoy Kirsty giving Hellqueen both barrels about how crap the whole family are.

Selks · 27/04/2014 16:42

yes I enjoyed hearing Helen shrivelling beneath Kirsty's wrath.

GypsyFloss · 27/04/2014 17:28

I think Kirsty and Tom could get back together. He is struggling emotionally and she does love and care for him.

toldmywrath · 27/04/2014 18:24

You'll like this Bluestocking - I thought you'd typed humping Kirsty in public! Wink

Bluestocking · 27/04/2014 18:34

Hee hee, toldmywrath! A dogging storyline would certainly be taking TA in a new and interesting direction, and would bring new life to the fabled Borchester bypass. However, I don't think Tom and Kirsty are the most obvious adherents of this traditional country sport - perhaps Matt and Lillian in an attempt to bring some excitement back into their relationship?

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/04/2014 18:44

Poor Kirsty also got dumped in public on another occasion. In a restaurant, I think, by Sam who was in lurve with Ruth (although. Kirsty never knew this).

Patrick would never do such a thing.
