Roll up roll up for The Wedding special from Catheter Hall. Is the lark flying high? Will Krusty jam that ring on the porky finger?

I feel sorry for the Bridge Farm dairy herd now, retrospectively ... I suspect Tony is simply realising that he got rid of them on an entirely false premise, and misses them dreadfully.

Well he ain't called Moany for nothing!
Good episode tonight, Pat is desperately worried that she's going to lose Tom. Tony relished being nasty to Tom didn't he, his 'revenge' I suppose. How petty.

Tony has always been ghastly , always moaning , he has a huge chip on his shoulders about his sisters both marrying money .I used to listen with my GM in the seventies when he first arrived Pat and he was moaning then.

You'd have thought Pat would have had more sense than to let Tony go and talk to Tom alone, given his previous record (with Helen as well as Tom). I did think similar to mummytime... I don't remember him being this aggressive before.

My pendulum is swinging in favour of Tom... And I never really thought I'd say that. It did sound as though Pat was furious tonight. I really hope she gives him "wotfir" (as my dad would say) tomorrow. Pat was quite nice tonight, too...

I'm definitely verging on a "poor Tom"... Blush

I find Tom's dilemma very believable, I'm afraid. I spent years convinced that I was going to be an academic, did the MA and was well into my PhD before I realised that it wasn't really me at all. And I would have sounded as convincing talking abut my thesis as Tom was about his ready meals. Just such a shame he didn't share all of his doubts and worries with Kirsty - she could have helped him through it all (and been on his side when his horrid father got stuck in).

Can that really have been someone who was doing something that never came naturally to him?

Perhaps he was being someone who doesn't come naturally to the new Editor?

Sorry, just realised that 'marry' wasn't the best choice of words in this particular thread!

The thing is, it's still very hard to marry this Tom up with the person who's been so impassioned about the whole pig venture and put his heart and soul into it. Can that really have been someone who was doing something that never came naturally to him?

Tony was awful tonight and i actually felt sorry for Tom. If it wasn't the heart attack that caused his personality change, then maybe working himself up towards another one will help. Pat at least showed compassion towards her son.

I'm so caught up in this storyline that i googled Archers spoilers. How sad is that? Grin

I wonder - do heart attacks alter personality in the way that strokes seem to?

Even if not technically a brain injury? The initial frustration and helplessness might never completely disappear. There must be an increased impatience... And ime people who were once fairly calm and in control can become somewhat - shouty. So, while I acknowledge that he has changed I wonder if it's closer to reality than it first appears.

I wonder if 'real' Tony listens to new Tony? it must be quite painful for him to hear the scriptwriters betray the character in that way. Tony could be a bit blunt and insensitive at times but never as cruel as that.

I'm very unimpressed with Tony's fathering skills tonight. As I said before he and Pat really do deserve the children that grew.

Tony seemed to have a personality change around the time that he had all that plastic surgery a few months ago. he was painful to listen to this evening.

Definitely time for Tom to go NC with his abusive parent. I never really liked tony he has always seemed to be very self-absorbed "poor me, I'm having to do things that other people ask me to do. Boo hoo" maybe the Fergie should have rolled on him...

Oh my god, how awful was Tony?! What on earth did he think he was doing? He's absolutely vile. I never thought I'd feel sorry for Tom, but tonight has forced me to!

Report
OneWaySystemBlues · 01/05/2014 19:19

I think Tom will run away or attempt suicide after that tirade. Tony was an utter arse tonight.

Report
mummytime · 01/05/2014 19:17

I just hope Tony has brain damage, early onset alzheimers or something. that was totally horrible.

If Tom goes away and leaves them all in the lurch it would serve them right.
