Roll up roll up for The Wedding special from Catheter Hall. Is the lark flying high? Will Krusty jam that ring on the porky finger?

Ewieindwie1 please can you explain your name? It's driving me mad trying to pronounce or work out the meaning!
(I love this thread as much as TA now-it takes up my time nicely.)
I thought Tony was out of order saying that John would be ashamed Sad

Selks · 25/04/2014 21:04

God I could just eat a prawn vol-au-vent or three.

Eastpoint · 25/04/2014 21:17

WillieWaggledagger One of my friend's fathers asked her if she was sure on the way to the church. She went through with it & then got divorced after 30 years of marriage. The marriage had started to fail within 2 years but neither of them felt they were the sort of people who get divorced - religious & traditional and so stuck it out until last year (they tried marriage counselling etc several times to try & get things right but it never worked out).

Abra1d · 25/04/2014 21:21

what John remark? I missed that?

Shalli, Tony said something like, If John was alive he'd be so ashamed of you.

ColdTeaAgain · 25/04/2014 21:22

Wish my friends were fellow archers fans, they don't know what they're missing Grin

1 - am amazed at Helen's honestly about the phone call from Tom, I would of expected her to keep quiet on that one!

2 - shut up and get lost Alice, it's not about you!

3 - even if the teeniest smidgen of sympathy was creeping in for Tom it was completely lost when he started trying to make out that what he did took courage!

4 - what was he thinking trying to talk to Kirsty some more? So desperate to try and make her and everyone else feel sorry for him.

5 - don't think Tom and Tony will ever improve their relationship after that outburst, was a bit harsh even for Tom!

There's only one thing I don't like about Saturdays - no archers!!

BirdingWidow · 25/04/2014 21:31

I did actually feel a bit sorry for Tom. He is highly annoying in general with his sausageyness but I thought that after an initial 'how could you?!' His family (well Pat at least) would rally and say he did the right thing, always better to call it off than get on deeper. I didn't think it was realistic that no one had a shred of support for him.

Loved joe today

CuttedUpPear · 25/04/2014 21:39

My DCs are long trained to only address me only through the medium of mime when the Archers is on.

I also have a special signal to indicate when a phone call is a work one and they must not interrupt. They are 22 and 17 now but they have been doing this for a good 10 years!

Back to the autopsy.....

InTheMiddleOfOurStreet · 25/04/2014 22:07

When my dad and I were waiting in the house on my wedding day for the car to pick us up, he asked me if I was sure. He did the same for my sister. I don't think he had doubts about either potenti husband, he just wanted us to know that we shouldn't feel railroaded into anything we weren't 100% sure of. Isn't that normal?

choccyp1g · 25/04/2014 22:08

I can't believe they wasted that food!

GypsyFloss · 25/04/2014 22:10

How come Pat can rally to Helen's side not matter what she does and yet Tom got nothing from her. His actions do not merit a positive reaction but he does deserve to be told that they still love him. Sadly he will realise, as mentioned a few pages back, that the one person who did love him was Kirsty.

MollyBdenum · 25/04/2014 22:17

DD did always go quiet for the Archers when she was a baby. I think she recognised the theme music from before she was born and from when she was around 3 months old I used to get her ready for bed, read her a story and then turn the lights out at 7 and feed her to sleep while listening to The Archers. It was lovely.

teenybash7 · 25/04/2014 22:21

I definitely felt sorry for Tom. Tony was horrible and his moany voice just winds me up. (I know I'm a softy though - I also felt sorry for Dreadful Darrell!)

Zero, to answer your question (pages and pages ago!) I listened on iplayer as soon as last night's was available, and tonight' s live. On the slippery slope to over-infestation ...

Gigondas · 25/04/2014 22:25

I was also feeling a bit sorry for tom then tonight as we had yet more about me antics , it was lost.

Didn't think tony was that harsh though John was not exactly lovely to women (poor Hayley though she did have a very annoying voice back then ) so that reference was bit ott.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 25/04/2014 22:44

MollyBdenum, I love to think of so many little future addicts having TA built into their early routines Smile. My 22mo dd has flapped her hands to the tune from about 7mo. Now she shouts "The tune! The tune! Bathtime!" when it comes on. Confuses her massively if i listen at lunchtime!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2014 22:52

The irony about that cutting 'John would be ashamed of you' remark is that this longest ever train crash in broadcast history began because John cheated on Hayley, then when they got back together, asked her to marry him too quickly. And the next day had a row with his dad and trundled off to his death.

I missed PM...I don't want to listen to the whole thing, can anyone remember the approx. time of the relevant bit please?

R4 · 25/04/2014 22:55

I liked the original Hayley with her genuine Brummie accent. I have never warmed to the replacement.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/04/2014 22:55

at least halfway through I think, Errol

I'll have a look

stealthsquiggle · 25/04/2014 22:56

Wasn't the original Hayley Jasper Carrot's daughter, or did I imagine that?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/04/2014 22:57

Starts at around 28 mins - it's not very long though Smile

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/04/2014 22:57

Yes she was, squiggle - Lucy Davis - Dawn in The Office

CuttedUpPear · 25/04/2014 22:58

It was about 12 minutes in Errol

NormanTheForeman · 25/04/2014 22:58

Yes, the original Hayley was Lucy Davis, and she was Jasper Carrott's daughter!

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/04/2014 22:59

& I much preferred her to the replacement too, R4!

stealthsquiggle · 25/04/2014 23:04

Random claim to fame - the girl who played Helen as a smallish girl (before John died, anyway) lived up the road from us.

stealthsquiggle · 25/04/2014 23:05

..or was at school with me. One or the other. I forget. I will ask DM Grin
