Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

If he can play the pipes I'd be his tomorrow
They had him piping at the Highland Games didn't they?

Swannykazoo · 26/03/2014 20:48

Loved the twist that its the Chipolata Kid having second thoughts - had always assumed he was a simple brained serial monogamist but maybe not. Was waiting for eco-Kirsty to come to her senses over catheter hall/ new build heights etc
Who was it on here that described Brenda as the one that got away for Tom?

GypsyFloss · 26/03/2014 20:51

I hope Tom is having seconds thoughts about the cost rather than about Kirsty. I wonder if they will just decide to postpone the wedding rather than call it all off.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/03/2014 20:55

Perhaps we'll soon have a 13 minute monologue from Kirsty, voicing her doubts about the speed of their reconciliation, her feelings of inferiority to Brenda and her hidden dreams of a rain-forest, Archer-free, pig-free future.....

BasketzatDawn · 26/03/2014 21:04

No, please nor more of those looong engagements that go nowhere .... either marry or not, but none of that uncertainty.

Bluestocking · 26/03/2014 21:06

Kirsty should go on her dream eco-holiday to Costa Rica and meet her own Tarzan ... she's far too good to spend her life in a newbuild in the Midlands helping the Chipolata Kid with his Fisher Price business plans and LeapPad marketing strategies.

BasketzatDawn · 26/03/2014 21:10

Kirsty's is one of the few/only voices in TA cast I could listen to for 13 mins without wanting to throw something at the radio.

I'd prefer Tom just pulled out if he's unsure. Apart from the Grundy boys fiasco are there any other cases of cold feet before a wedding in TA? where the wedding went ahead and then the marriage was a disaster. I know there are numerous affairs but these have tended to be a few years in. There was Shula and Alistair and her pre-marriage fling, but they both seemed sure they wanted to marry each other despite that.

I must go to do other things now. And watch out for the night train from Brum.

Northernlurker · 26/03/2014 21:19

Sounded pretty clear cut to me. Tom got back with Kirsty on the rebound, the whole wedding farrago is part of that and he is just starting to wake up to the fact that he has made an awful cock up of things.

Rob was vile tonight - no surprise there. Good work from Ian :)

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 26/03/2014 22:43

Did Brian refuse to go to Debbie's wedding? I know he was dubious about it and with good reason, as things turned out. Pity she was so blind to Simon Gerrard's character flaws.

nauticant · 26/03/2014 22:45

Following on from the many comments about the wedding planning being half-arsed, this would fit in with the SWs having always intended to pull the plug on it a few weeks beforehand.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 26/03/2014 22:51

Kirsty would be a better wife for Tom than Brenda

Not sure Tom's a good husband for Kirsty mind you...Hmm

Anyway I reckon there'll be a showdown, they'll both realise they're not happy with the wedding/house escalation that's developed, but they do still want to get married so they'll slope off for a quiet register office do instead

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 26/03/2014 22:59

lurkity lurk

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 26/03/2014 23:05

Ok. If I had fairly recently arrived in a village, come to manage a controversial new project, had an extra-marital affair with one of the children of the "great and good" of said village, recently been lamped by another villager and been invited on the stag do of my new partner's brother but only because she wanted me to be invited, not because they actually liked and accepted me, I would sort of play it a bit quiet and not try and play a bigger leading part in said stag do than the best man.

But maybe that's just me.

ComposHat · 26/03/2014 23:05

He nearly refused to go to Adam's wedding til Ian's dad turned up (a fellow farmer) turned up in the bull. I thought that was really well played. Sid said something nakedly homophobic about Adam and there was a pause and I remember thinking I really don't know how Brian will repond to this. To my delight he stuck up for Adam.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/03/2014 23:22

Oh yes - that was a good episode (or 2?) I was proud of both fathers and I think I cried.

Bit worried about nuaticant's "unconvincing wedding prep" observation.... Combined with the fact that Peggy has recently realised she doesn't actually want her only son to drop dead of a heart-attack.

Do I seriously have to return my hat to the pushy bridal-wear designer?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 26/03/2014 23:39

I wonder what chance there is of Tom (Kenton/Jolene/Jazzer/Adam/Roy) telling Helen that Rob behaved like a complete tosser?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/03/2014 23:51

Quiz cont'd

Who has the most (or most impressive) tatoos?
a) The Bishop?
b) Adrian?
c) Kingsley?
d) the latest, hottest Home farm picker?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/03/2014 23:55

Hmm Would help if I could spell tattoo....

Helen will just believe that Rob is used to less rural entertainment....

stilllearnin · 27/03/2014 07:13

errol I'm all packed. Will let you know how I get on with J. Oh I can see Kirsty or Tom jilting the other and Jazzer suggesting to Fallon that it'd be a shame to waste all the reception grub!

cheminotte · 27/03/2014 07:15

I thought we were in for an all-male episode there until Helen popped up. I'm sure she rang Tom not vv. Would you really ring your brother on his stag night?

Bluestocking · 27/03/2014 07:26

I think you might ring your brother on his stag night if you were worried that your boyfriend and your best friend might come to blows on said stag night ...

justiceofthePeas · 27/03/2014 07:57

Lord this thread is fast....

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2014 08:16

Would you really ring your brother on his stag night?
No, but this is Helen you're talking about.

guineapiglet · 27/03/2014 08:29

in amongst all this angst, I still want to know where Darrell is and if he might be working on K and Ts swanky new off plan new build..

it will never be ready in time....

WillieWaggledagger · 27/03/2014 08:46

dear god guinea don't wake that beast!
