Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

Zero's something old something new is brilliant.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:18

Any bets on Helen buying the Isabel Jennings dress from Kirsty?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:19

Gypsy, I agree. He's always second string to John.

Mrs CB, yes indeedy! Ribena in the same building would have been a risk, let alone in the same room.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/04/2014 19:19

Oh my hood god I literally refuse to wait 24 hours to find out what's going to happen!! Refuse I tell you!!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:20

... and I agree about the something old, something new. V clever!

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/04/2014 19:20

So the dress just gets ignored -honestly they're near Birmingham or phone Isabel and ask her to sort it.

I despair.

And yes Tony has just made it that much harder for Tom to walk away [still think he will though]

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:21

48 hours, Bit! It's Tuesday today, wedding scheduled for Thursday.

Selks · 22/04/2014 19:24

Poor Kirsty.

I can imagine Helen feeling silently smug at the fancy dress getting ruined. She clearly felt it was too good for Kirsty.

JollyGolightly · 22/04/2014 19:26

They couldn't have loaded that episode with any more Doomomens, could they? Small creature dies (missed the start so not sure what), groom sees bride in dress, dress gets ruined, groom gives bride PEARLS, which she should have known is bad luck, given her recently developed superstitious nature.

DodderyOldSoul · 22/04/2014 19:33

Putting the pheasant out of its misery... It's better this way...

Oh SWs, you are spoiling us!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 22/04/2014 19:34

Actually I think I agree Errol.

And there's still time to bring the reception back to the village hall! Only needs one tiny disaster. Will Helen and Henry be visiting Catheridge Hall in the next few hours?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:35

So right, Jolly! And yes, Doddery, I am loving all of this! So much better for not having heavyhanded trails on R4 all day long too.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/04/2014 19:43

Oh noooooooooooo! 48 hours

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:46

Good thinking, Zero! I can hear Helen now: 'It's all my fault, I really shouldn't have given him those matches...'

BitOutOfPractice · 22/04/2014 19:50

Pearls are supposed to be bad luck aren't they? I can't remember what they represent now though.

I expect she's got red and white flowers too Confused

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 19:54

Pearls are bad luck? I think I wore pearls on my wedding day. I can't remember, though, as it was nearly 32 years ago. Still waiting for the bad luck, then...

Bluestocking · 22/04/2014 19:57

I love your "something old, something new" title, Zero!
Would it be very wrong to have a little titter at Cheesey's favourite hymn - Dear Lord and Father of Mankwold?

JollyGolightly · 22/04/2014 19:59

Bit they represent tears, I think.

Mimsy Glad you've escaped unscathed.

LillianGish · 22/04/2014 20:03

Funny how Kirsty is so superstitious about somethings but not about others. I'm still not seeing this as a portent of immediate doom though more that as with the dress she'll end up with the cheaper option (though still the big bill) and realise that that would have been just as good anyway thus making the financial meltdown, when it comes, even harder to take.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 22/04/2014 20:09

Only for the first 32 years, Jolly.

Pearls are for tears, but Anne of Green Gables pointed out that the tears could be tears of joy when she got a pearl engagement ring from Gilbert Blythe. And she was mostly happy.

BasketzatDawn · 22/04/2014 20:28

Pearls and 'tears',as in weeping not damage to expensive frock. Oh dear, that's happened anyway. Sad I can't help wondering if Helen gave HellChild the Ribena deliberately. So she can get the dress herself. for the wedding that won't happen. Maybe '20 years' of tears, but maybe I'm dreaming that bit. Yes, why did K try the dress on yet again?? I just know this is not the last unfortunate incident before the nuptials. But no idea what.

BasketzatDawn · 22/04/2014 20:39

Just looked up pearls and luck around weddings - several versions, some with positive spin, e.g. pearls = happiness as pearls are substitute for bride's tears. I do like that one. Off to eat dinner now. Adieu.

LillianGish · 22/04/2014 20:42

Thinking about it I can't believe Helen would let Henry have Ribena in first place - surely he is one of those only-drinks-water pfbs!
